Netflix would never do this? Does no one remember the documentary about the junk yard guy that was falsely convicted of rape and murder served like 20 years , got out committed a rape and murder and Netflix made or bought a documentary (Making A Murderer) that made it look like he was framed by dirty cops ? He s back in prison after found her burnt remains on property , her car and young nephew accomplice confessed.

I saw the Piers interview and Fiona did NOT react with any sort of emotional credibility. She didn't even seem truly hurt and angry - just greedy for a piece of the money from Netflix and Richard on their big hit. And she admitted to having six email accounts and many different phones -and even said she might have sent him tons of emails after all...but the worst accusations weren't true. She changed her story constantly and she seems very unstable. "Baby Reindeer" was amazingly intense and disturbing. Episode 4 was hard to watch but very important in the trajectory of the tale.

You're even down playing it in this conversation saying he was "abused" like it's not that serious. Is it because he is a man that rape isn't as serious? I think they did their best to disguise her identity while keeping important character traits intact. Firstly, they changed her name, which is the least one can do. Her appearance, which happened to resemble hers, is important because it invokes a feeling of pity and, at first glance, appears to be harmless. It highlights how we make assumptions about people's appearance to make ourselves feel better, self-righteous, and superior. The character being Scottish adds familiarity and provides reasons for him to have talked with her. Also, her being a lawyer highlights flaws in the system regarding stalking and how someone familiar with the law can exploit it, portraying the other party as the harasser by recording their conversation. The fact that both the character and she have a history of stalking further emphasizes this point.
One thing we can argue about is the language they used, especially concerning the sexual innuendos. On the one hand, she undoubtedly said those things to him, and since it's his story, he should have the right to tell it that way.
On the other hand, he should've known that using the exact same phrases as she said could lead people to identify her. So it's a double-edged sword.

The thing that is strange to me, is the clearly mentally unwell lady is being crucified (through her own doing largely) . While the character was closely resembling and sounding to her. I think the truth is in a grey area here -based on legal evidence, her illness causing a denial of the behaviour-which could be symptomatic, rather than calculated necessarily.
However, what’s strange is the man who groomed and SAd the protagonist; has been given far more privacy -yet committed an arguably more serious crime. He also as far as we know, wasn’t unwell and as vulnerable himself. Infact the opposite, he had the power imbalance . In a way, leading her on a bit and admitting a codependence-causing her the same rejection he also felt. Maybe that’s why he also feels sorry for her. But inadvertently , or not that was a weapon he knew how to hurt her with. Doing the show too. Don’t you usually go nocontact? Esp if they were “jailed”. Not world wide. Both are damaged people and it’s a bit icky to see in a way. Like folk u know Facebook fighting dirty laundry-or something.

They changed the story to protect her ID yet she went nuts and decided to go straight to the media for millions of views. She cant even decide what her own story is she is trying to sell to the public. Also in order to sue for defamation you need to have a good reputation. The show wasn't even her first brush with the law for stalking.

At 7:38. Actually Megyn she can sue in the UK. They have rather strict slander and libel laws. If Fiona can demonstrate loss of reputation the damages can be rather high. The producers of the series billed it as based on true events. And she has said Piers Morgan may be sued as well for the way he handled the interview. Plus as a lawyer, Fiona has access to a lot of legal resources, including civil lawyers.

    • @sineadking1824

Netflix did have subtitles in the episodes that state things have been dramatized for the show. I saw it with my own eyes. Even though they said “true story” they do mention how some things have been changed.
I’m sick to death of people repeating this misinformation when simply watching an episode and looking for the words that literally pop up on the screen would discount this argument. They’re covered for liable. Even Piers wouldn’t listen when one of his guests kept saying it’s literally written in the episodes.
There could be some case along the lines of harm caused to her based on people harassing her because of the show or other possibilities but as far as the “true story” argument goes, Netflix are covered.

None of this would have happened if Netflix had done their job in NOT forcing this 'outing' in the first place. I just pray she doesn't commit suicide over the pressure. She seems to have absolutely no protections. This must be an absolute nightmare for her. I wish people would just show compassion.
The fact that no-one in comparison is harping on about the identity of the successfully protected male sexual abuser >>> AND WHY "miss episode 4" graphically depicting sexual abuse which took place in LONDON, not as Megyn said in Scotland - then JUST FOCUS ON BULLYING HER????
