I absolutely love Inktense, they’re unique and I love that they don’t need layering to pop off the page or whatever substrate you use. I got this secondhand (greyish) T-shirt one day with a plain girl/woman face in white on it and I colored it in with my Inktense pencils. Vibrancy got less after washing it again and again but I wear it, wash it and immediately wear it again so it has gone through A LOT of washing cycles without any fixative or other treatments so I’d say it’s definitely a win. Although I’d love to get the sticks one day, to get more into dyeing fabric with drawings and such
The beauty of watercolor pencils is that one can use them together. The ease of mixing is such that you can get as much or more out of a smaller set. There are a couple of useful colors, but not much that I really need.
Just FYI, you can also order individual pencils from Jackson's art store in the UK. The pencils are US $2.15 each. Shipping is as low as $5 - $6, takes 10 - 14 days if you're not in a hurry. I've always had good luck with them. Derwent seems like they're always in stock, but they're a UK brand.
Cultpens has the new colors as a set and they are insanely cheap compared to dickblick. What would have cost over $80 from blick cost $50ish from cultpens.
I've ordered pencils from Blick that came broken or mangled. I've received replacements that were also broken or mangled. Now, if I order pencils from them, I'll order something else with them so they will be shipped in a box and not an envelope. Their customer service is wonderful though. The only complaint I have is, if you order enough for free shipping, they use FedEx, and it takes forever to get here.
For about the past 4 years I have also experienced hit-or-miss packing from Blick, and I have seen a lot more comments to this effect on their website, too. It's very unfortunate. I feel like they forgot the maxim that a good reputation takes ages to earn and an instant to be destroyed.
Lime green is my fave of the new colours, along with dark cerulean, which I seem to use a lot. Thanks for the video, love to see people’s colour choices! 🎨
Really beautiful colors! I love Derwent products. I have a set of 12 inktense pencils, and all of the pan paints except for the pastels. I really love the graphitint. I wish I could afford the big tin of Derwent inktense pencils. Maybe one day, lol.
Hullo Becca, I have purchased full sets in the past and if I can offer others a small bit of advice? STOP! Buy a few open stock pencils and just in colors that you use most often! I have enjoyed working with Koh-I-noor watercolor pencils since I was 14 when I got the 24 pencil set! I purchased replacement pencils from the local art store for years. I find I use the same colors and others that never seem to be touched much less used! I have the full set of Albrecht Durer pencils from Faber Castell and they do have a grand reputation for a reason. Yet I know that there are pencils that will never be used! I am truly surprised that Blick’s messed up your order! I get items shipped to me as the closest retail outlet is 4+ hours away! My local art shop closed 5 years ago when the owner’s wife passed away and the “kids” took over the business and they decided not to continue to sell art supplies and concentrate on dive equipment. Yes, my local art store was a combination store. SCUBA Supplies with half the store dedicated to art supplies! I look forward to seeing you create some artworks in Inktense mediums! Stay safe and be well!
I have seen so many businesses being taken over by the ‘ kids’ and they always end up making the worst decisions. They kill whatever vision their parents had and run the business into the ground. Sad. You re right about the full set arguments. We all have those colors we gravitate to time and time again. ❤
Hi Becca, I hope you received all your back orders. I’ve been waiting two months for one final new color. I love these pencils! Thanks for sharing your swatches.
I've had this same issue with Blick products both with pencils and brushes. Even to the point where I will only use them as a last resort since I have Jerry's Artarama and Jackson's UK as alternate sources for art supplies. I've had pencils broken, brushes smashed and crushed in plastic bags with nothing protecting the bristles and wrong product shipped several times. I just don't understand what's been going on with Blick packaging and shipping for the last several years. Clearly Blick needs to do better.
wow what rotten luck with blick! They must've had their holiday crew in charge or something. I've rarely had issues with their shipping/packaging like that. I've been a customer of them for years. Hopefully they'll get their act straightened out for you.
I’m team mauve- long o as pronounced in French. I think most Canadians use this pronunciation. I confess to doing a double take the first time I heard it pronounced (maw-ve). It’s so interesting how regions adopt sayings and variations like this.

I love Jackson’s! I tell everyone about them . The shipping is so insanely affordable.

They have so many open stock options. 😊
Wow. I like to order pencils from Blick as they are usually packed so much better than Amazon.
I hope you didn't scrap the broken ones, yes you definitely deserve the replacements because they're damaged, but also they're totally useable!

Great thing about broken pencils is you can STILL use them 😊

Cultpens is so much better, and cheaper than blick.

Thanks so much for the review and swatches! OMG how could Blick package those pencils like that, I hope that doesn't happen to anyone else!
thank you for sharing

Confused...You said on DB the list price is $2.10 but on the sidebar in your video it shows list price is $3.59 (?)

They don't dissolve very well on that paper....
Hate the hands in the beginning. Lazy
