I get the hidden message actually. like at 1:05 it talks about how the lady cook, and if the men learn how to cook he can try cooking and see why his wife doesn't like to cook. It's basically about telling the man to eat what his wife cook, cos the wife took a long time to prepare the food. and how the wife cook, clean and attend to his needs. (like you know what I'm gonna say) and when the wife is in a good mood she will be humming a song and going around the house like a mermaid swimming in the sea. basically is about the typical housewife that society wanted. But this lady in the song, doesn't want to be one. yes she will clean and cook. But she also hope the man that she's married to will share an equal responsibility as her in the house that they will be living in. In conclusion is more like how ladies nowadays see marriage as an equal share responsibility. they do wanted to have a family and be somebody wife, but at the same time the men gonna need to respect them and not put fault at them when things get out of control. moreever even cheating on them. cos that's totally disrespecting your wife that has put in so much effort into the marriage.
Am I the only one who interpreted it a but differently? Especially “Want me as your wife but she is umm, umm, umm”? Idk about social issues specifically in korea but it just resonates sooo hard with men expecting women to perform wifely duties but not wanting to commit. I don’t think this is directly a poke at tradwife lifestyles, though that does feel like an adjacent theme. Like she does all of the traditional wifely duties expected by a man but there’s no ring.

I feel like the lyric "Want me as your wife but she is" is wrong, I think it's supposed to be "want me to wipe your shoes, mm-mm-mm (simulating grunting or wiping sfx)". This tracks with the choreography too. Please adjust this if you agree, this changes the meaning of that line significantly lol I also think that it's "taste this coco loco" which is the name of a mixed drink, this puts more focus on the various chores and favors the wife is doing for the spoiled husband, rather than the quality of the taste. Edit: As a reply from jayceyallen7745 explained, the posted lyrics actually do make sense. Read the next few comments to join me on a journey of understanding.
The official lyrics are I cook cream soup Taste is Cocoroco Want me as your wife but she is Umm, umm, umm I clean your room It's so twinkle, twinkle Want me as your wife but she is Umm, umm, umm Cocoloco and cocoroco can be interchangeable in the Korean language bc R and L are the same letter but when I look up the lyrics on apple this is exactly what shows up.
@@jayceyallen7745 Long overexplain incoming, I apologize! I appreciate that you looked at another source but I really think, "want me to wipe your shoes?" Makes a lot more sense in the context of the song and the choreo. There are times when Apple Lyrics are not entirely accurate and I believe that this must be one of those times. I believe they are submitted by the artists or people representing the artists, but there are times when they will submit what they think the lyric sounds like rather than the original intent. They're showing shoes every time that lyric happens, and the "mm-mm-mm" in conjunction with the choreo step they do seems like they are simulating wiping shoes. As for why it makes contextual sense in the song over the lyrics that have been posted here and there, the entire rest of the verse is talking about various household chores that the wife is performing. Shoe wiping/shining is seen as a particularly subservient one in many contexts. Conversely, there is no other reference in the entire song to another woman, and it doesn't make any sense that another woman is the wife in this scenario. Are we to believe that the narrator is taking on the role of a housewife somehow despite not being the man's wife? Who is "she" in this scenario? What does it mean for her to be "um um um"? I believe that if these are the official posted lyrics, it's not hard to believe that they may be wrong considering that Soyeon/CUBE don't appear to utilize a native English speaker to review their lyrics. As for cocoloco? Idk man could go either way really 🤷♀️
@@LunaWhitewing no need to apologize for the long comment, I do it all the time lol. I still think it's 'want me as your wife' though. The song is called wife and about a man wanting a wife who is traditional and performs 'wifely' duties, so it makes the most sense that the main hook uses the word wife and then the rest of the song is talking about said duties. Yes, it makes sense that Soyeon who wrote the song and the members are narrating, their music is always their thoughts/feeling from their perspective. I think you're just thinking about the lyrics too hard and it's creating confusion. She's saying 'Want me as your wife but she is...' As in, she's dating a guy and not yet married. He wants her to be his wife but he wants his wife to preform all these household duties. The 'other woman' you're referring to is the 'wife' that the man wants. SY is saying you want me as your wife but the wife you want is not me. The wife you want is another person who I do not want to be. In kpop they constantly use onomatopoeias and other sounds, sometimes it means something and sometimes it's just a filler. So it really might not mean anything. I'm not Korean or fluent do I'd have to look at other sources to see if the Umm umm means something in this context. I know apple isn't always correct but that would be a pretty big mistake for them to make and I can't find any instance where the lyrics say wipe your shoes and when I first listened to it (no lyrics) all I heard was want me as your wife.
I thought the lyrics were "I don't wanna wipe" instead of wife so I thought it was a message about how Korean women do the majority of housework and saying they wouldn't be a wife if it means taking all chores.
Here’s is an Easy Rap Version Mieyon Fast Rap. 1:04 ‘Do you really wanna start appreciating me, cuz’ everything I do is typically for free Betta’ stop treating me like i am your ‘WIFE’, cause I’m done playin’ nice Oh, this is not game.. (MAY USE FOR COVERS JUST GIVE CREDITS PLZ ❤❤) CHANGED/EDITIED: ‘You really need to start appreciating me..”
I think Yuqi's english pronunciation is more accurate, so I'd say it reads "Cocoroco" but both Miyeon and Soyeon have a korean accent that makes it sound like "Cocoloco". Soyeon also says "loom" instead of "room", which is quite common for native korean speakers who have a heavier accent. Btw english is not my first language and I don't think anyone is obligated to know perfect grammar and/or pronunciation, so I'm not criticizing their accents at all, just pointing it out 💕
Basically she don't want to be your typical "WIFE" WIFE is used to describe the perfect wife in korean society who cook, clean, do everything acc. to how her husbands wants her & doesn't care about her own happiness
I wish the lyrics were a bit more accurate- especially at 1:05 Miyeon's part isn't "if I do well", it's actually "if YOU do well"- meaning they also have expectations for the man.

She's saying 'Want me as your wife but she is...'
As in, she's dating a guy and not yet married.
I know apple isn't always correct but that would be a pretty big mistake for them to make and I can't find any instance where the lyrics say wipe your shoes and when I first listened to it (no lyrics) all I heard was want me as your wife.
the english lines make absolutely no sense lmfaoooo but is it a bop? YES. I COOK CREAM SOUP
Soyeon did it to be more catchy for the koreans.
I thought the lyrics were "I don't wanna wipe" instead of wife so I thought it was a message about how Korean women do the majority of housework and saying they wouldn't be a wife if it means taking all chores.
Damm ...such motivational lyrics.... literally moved me to tears 🗿
Man This hits hard I love this so much
The way Soyeon said room as 'loom'

CHANGED/EDITIED: ‘You really need to start appreciating me..”
Miyeon and Soyeon: cocoloco
Yuqi: cocoroco
After all, which one is right??
I think Yuqi's english pronunciation is more accurate, so I'd say it reads "Cocoroco" but both Miyeon and Soyeon have a korean accent that makes it sound like "Cocoloco". Soyeon also says "loom" instead of "room", which is quite common for native korean speakers who have a heavier accent. Btw english is not my first language and I don't think anyone is obligated to know perfect grammar and/or pronunciation, so I'm not criticizing their accents at all, just pointing it out 💕
@@malicechaliceThank you very much for explaining.❤️
SO CUTE
“want me as your wife but she is umm umm” what does this mean
Basically she don't want to be your typical "WIFE"
WIFE is used to describe the perfect wife in korean society who cook, clean, do everything acc. to how her husbands wants her & doesn't care about her own happiness
0:57 thissssssssss❤
I wish the lyrics were a bit more accurate- especially at 1:05 Miyeon's part isn't "if I do well", it's actually "if YOU do well"- meaning they also have expectations for the man.
especially because this is right after Shuah's transition in the song, telling the guy if he learned it from watching her, it's his turn to try

(Song End)
What's fascinating about this song is that it's ostensibly about the perfect wife/housewife, but there are sexual innuendos beneath the surface.
Some of them singing the same part but Soyeon is the only one pronouncing room as loom?
Yeah, I think it's just issues with Soyeon's pronunciation
this song and concept is genius but people don’t get it 😓

The meaning is this(according to me)➡️
When it says “want me as your wife but she is mm mm mm”
-it means ➡️”you want me as your wife bc I cook and clean for you but you want another girl bc she is pretty but she cant cook or clean” thats what it means
