Yes, you watched correctly! These balloons take a large amount of helium. If you fill it up to 16" with air first and then top it up to the full size with helium it will still float, and reduce your helium costs!
Hi Annette, if you are inflating the balloon like we have here then you would get a float-time of around a couple of days. If you were to Hi-Float the 3ft balloon then it would stay floating for over a week! Just be aware that the more weight you add to the balloon the shorter the float-time would be. If you add something heavy like dry flowers or beads underneath the balloon, then it won't last as long.
