Loving the 70s pimp chic interior- if this was original Caddy stuff in the 50s, I’m guessing that might be part of the inspiration behind the whole gold shag rug, velour furniture, and avocado coloured appliances aesthetic that I remember from my childhood in the 70s.
Hi from Russia. It's a great car. And a part of auto history. It was glad to hear that it's not rusty, but covered with salt from the ocean. Hope that the present owner will manage to restore the car.
That IS original Cadillac fabric, but it is from around 1974-76, and most likely 1976 as they were changing them quickly in those few years. That striped pattern came in a few different flavors of browns, tans, reds, blues, and maybe even some greens. I absolutely loved them all. But this is definitely not even close to an original 50's interior.
I get the feeling that it was redone sometime in the 70’s given it still looks like lacquer paint. Especially if the motor was swapped I’d probably guess it was bought as a non running car, and was all done at the same time.
Those Braun and Gold Fabric colors and patterns ...were very popular along with avocado green in the late 60's .. Just makes me wonder how much unaccounted work the car has had. Nevertheless its an unusual and jolly sight .
That's not a Cadillac original fabric from the mid 1950s... Unless Lay-Z-Boy used that same exact fabric in 1975 for their rocker recliners. I sat in said recliner for most of my life; there's no mistaking it!
It isn't hard to find another Caddy engine to go in, I figure a mid 60's to early 70's one would be perfect with a TH400 to get those silky shifts. Wouldn't be original, but it'd still be all Cadillac and better then some chevy engine hack job. That interior is a precursor to the stylings of the late 60's into the 70's, kind of nightmarish, but cool and wild at the same time. Just amazing condition for it's age.
I worked at Trail Creek Cabin in Sun Valley my guess is that the colors of that Caddy were meant to look like a baked Idaho Potato 🥔 brown outside and buttery inside. They picked you up in a Potato 😮😮😮😮
Cool car. As a cadillac collector I'm not a fan of limo's but it's in decent shape. Now as far as the interior goes I'm no expert. However I'm not sure that fabric was out in the 50's. Velour was a 70's material please tell me the last time you've seen original Velour in a 60's car let alone the 50's. On a side note the engine doesn't sound like it's going to treat you very well. Years ago I had a chance to get a 1956 Cadillac Limo for free. All I needed to do was get a tow truck that would put it on a bed to take it away and I could have it. It had to happen quickly because it was in a barn, and the barn was getting ready to fall on it. I arraigned for a large flatbed to pick it up on the coming Saturday morning. Unfortunately, the owner called Friday morning to let me know not to come by. The barn fell on the car Thursday night, crushing it under the large barn beams. It looked very similar to this 55 Limo., but was in much better shape.
It's a Caddy. OF COURSE it had power everything & AC. THIS IS THE SAME CAR MODEL Elvis, Scotty & DJ used to tour the entire US in 54-55!! It was blue, painted yellow then PAINTED PINK! 🥰 They tied the stand up base on the roof & zipped it in a custom waterproof canvas bag!

The purple ran, both could drive.I was too young and broke. The interiors were cloth, button tufted, single color, and not velour./His is well worth tuning, polishing with the chrome missing parts replaced, and then just enjoyed for years to come.
it's real close to the velour stripe pattern on the 1974-76 cadillac's but all the reference images I could find they didn't have that many colors, they were usually 1-2 colors with a thin white dividing stripe. This more like couch upholstery from the 70s, I have actually found a few vintage ones for sale on google almost identical to this color/pattern but this is definitely not the correct pattern/material for 1955.
Feel like that interior is 70's, not 50's. Not sure what Cadillac was using for upholstery in their limos, but 1950's cars had more nylon and a sort of flat "sheen" to the upholstery. Fuzzy bathrobe upholstery hadn't become popular yet.
😅The interior does not appear factory. The Fleetwood 75 had tasteful broadcloth in the the interior front and rear. The limo (partition privacy window) had leather on the driver seat. Cool car. Fix the holes and any rust, replace the missing chrome, and then leave as-is so the history remains. Restoring loses all of that. Luv the interior but ya it's a late upgrade, no manufacturers used velour until early 70's...i think the '72 98 Regency was the first.

The owner should talk to the owner of ICON Motors in the San Fernando Valley near Los Angeles to see how to stabilize the original paint. ICON Motors have a line of cars called “Derelict” that have “patina” that they leave.
The engine just wrecks the whole experience of this fantastic Cadillac. It should be silent when running. It doesn't necessarily have to be a Cadillac engine but for heavens sake make it quiet!
Cool car but I’m sorry there is nothing factory about it. Just a quick search would tell you Cadillac never painted any cars brown in the 1950’s also that interior??? And the engine is a Chevy? Come on man. That’s someone cheap restore in the early 80’s
Car was special order from the Factory in the brown, reason it has a Chevy motor in it was due to the original motor being blown. Found it in an alley and wanted to get it running for the show. Definitely needs some work but like any car project it's a project and needs money lol

It’s a cool car, but I do not think the interior is original.
4:18 😅 *yeah, as soon as I saw him reaching for that light I had the same thought! Just a little professional paranoia from a 37-year medic and firefighter*
Don't think original.. that material we used in 72 to customize interiors. Velour isn't wasn't used in the 50s to my understanding.
That looks like the one "Judd Strout" owned he was know for the song "Daisy a Day".
An amazing car. But if you want to save it for the future, it needs some restoration. At least those holes in the left front fender.
The owner should talk to the owner of ICON Motors in the San Fernando Valley near Los Angeles to see how to stabilize the original paint. ICON Motors have a line of cars called “Derelict” that have “patina” that they leave.
Wonderful, restore and paint it it will truly pop 😅
The Caddy is begging for a 472. Can't you hear it?
... Or MAYBE an LT1 5.7 350, like mine has! 😏😉
Alas, mine is a Fleetwood... 😊
The engine just wrecks the whole experience of this fantastic Cadillac. It should be silent when running. It doesn't necessarily have to be a Cadillac engine but for heavens sake make it quiet!
The front clip is from another car.
Just put the chrome back and paint the front to match the rest of the car.
And fix the engine
I really think the exterior needs to be carefully and authentically restored to its original color.
Is the original color
Hes not a car guy...ya we can tell
Was that hole in the front from a bullet?
It looks like the exterior color is Tangler Brown
Cool car but I’m sorry there is nothing factory about it. Just a quick search would tell you Cadillac never painted any cars brown in the 1950’s also that interior??? And the engine is a Chevy? Come on man. That’s someone cheap restore in the early 80’s
You COULD get a brown Cadillac in the 50's, but otherwise you are spot on.
Car was special order from the Factory in the brown, reason it has a Chevy motor in it was due to the original motor being blown. Found it in an alley and wanted to get it running for the show. Definitely needs some work but like any car project it's a project and needs money lol
Looks like fabric from Oldsmobile Toronado
That's Don Barzini's car, sold off in 1957 because he didn't need it anymore.
sometimes patina looks cool but i would paint this one lost some elegance with holes in the body
Ella: “That is the interior of that car that I was in before it was owned by Miss Cruella De-Vil.”
Check the trunk, you might find Hoffa !! 😆
The interior fabric is not original at all but most likely 70s kitsch. E Gadz it's ugly.
This is ice T's first car
That is mint its beautiful
nothing mint about that car,are you blind?
@@michaeljacobs1022😂😅❤
