Beware of ending jumpscare!
A thank you for 1k subscribers! 62 Close Lightning Strikes from 2017 to 2021!
4 years of living in FL left me with a huge collection of crazy thunderstorm videos, so I decided to clip out the best close ones... And there's no messing around. All of these were taken in East Central Florida, mostly at Florida Tech in Melbourne and my parent's house in Sebastian. - Наука
That last one was absolutely insane

Wow, that double at 5:30 was awesome
These sounds are required before I go to sleep
Lol🤣

😂
The positive strikes are the most impressive.
Love them good ole Florida storms! ⚡️⚡️
crazy compilation. i love lightning and crazy loud thunder. great sound and beautifull strikes. well done
Florida summer thunder sounds like bombs going off. I was in Boca one July and it’s absolutely deafening.
Must be because it is flat down there.
@@patcola7335 Flat and surrounded by very warm waters on three sides. Gulf moisture is prime juice for development of big storms.
Very nice compilation! The strikes you got around 3:55 and 4:05 are powerful reminders on why you should take cover immediately as soon as thunder is heard or lightning is seen: even if the storm's not dropping torrents of rain on you
Have you ever heard of positive lightning?
@@forgaven3346 yes. However, positively charged or not, EVERY lightning bolt that's considered cloud to ground is dangerous. And no matter what, once thunder is heard, everyone has to take cover right away as its a warning that they're in imminent danger
Love a Florida storm ;)
Finally a breathtaking lightning compilation!
6:34 ...When the power gets knocked out... First bolt hits behind lower left corner of square building - probably hitting a transformer as you can see a momentary after-glow then the lights go out...Cool video!!!
0:55 look at that flash of lightning
The Last One IS A Positive CG Strike!
The last flash was beastly. The sudden thunder and smooth channel does point to it being a positive CG strike. What's unusual is that there were multiple restrikes after the first stroke. Restrikes on positive CGs, especially more than one restrike, are very rare. This tells me that the flash may actually have been bipolar... in other words, the first stroke was positive and the restrikes were all negative. Basically what happens is that the side-branches will "back-feed" down the main channel after it decays, causing negative return strokes. You can even make out the side-branches up high... these should be positive leaders if the first stroke was positive.
It's very impressive that you were able to capture that flash on camera, along with the thunder.
I count at least 6 sonic booms, possibly 7, which would indicate 5 or 6 return strokes. I'm thinking this could be a high amp negative cg
@@theslayeroforyx3546 We're hearing the blasts from progressively higher sections of the ground bolt. *Maybe* there was another ground termination somewhere else, though you should still see a bright flash on the camera if it was that close.
If it was the subsequent strokes causing the additional noise, the temporal spacing would align with the flashing. You'll see/hear this effect sometimes with close -CGs. Also, the odds of every stroke in a flash having that high of peak current is basically zero. Even in ordinary -CGs, you only really hear the first stroke because the restrikes usually have lower peak current.
@@thelightninghunter23 the explosive cluster thunder from this suggests more than one lightning bolt. I'm thinking the initial +cg triggered a subsequent high amp -cg. Look at the video carefully you can clearly see a smooth channel lightning followed by several flashes. There's no other way you'd get a cluster of sonic pressure waves like this.
@@theslayeroforyx3546 Here's multiple cases of clearly single-stroke flashes that have the same sound effect.

Great job. That kind of insane lightning and thunder would cause me to change my underwear every few minutes. That lightning is freaking NUTS and the thunder is deafening.
Jason you're a rarity among RUclipsrs to upload this kind of gem of thunderstorm videos.
I swear if those kinds of storms happens where i am i would have a field day recording these destructive forces of nature.
We actually just had a small but intense storm here in Western NY a couple days ago that legitimately gave me jump scares and made me nervous because the strikes were so close, and I never get nervous. 😂
So many were close and normally I only see 1 or 2 per year at its peak. Sometimes it's even rarer for me to see strikes that close. Western NY isn't even known for storms this intense, but we've actually gotten quite a lot of intense storms this year which is shocking (didn't realize the unintended pun I made at first, talking about storms and the amount of them being "shocking" 😂)
I have a video but on another channel that I won't promote due to the hate of self promotion.

Last one is a rare strike, a positive strike with multiple return strokes.
i have lived here for 25 years and it is STILL awesome!

No
That reminds me of a song from Gwen Stefani.
That last one made a doggy jump up
When you see positive lightning like that, definitely brace yourself.
0:01 to 0:07 Pretty rare to get two different strikes that close apart.
It's not rare at all in florida.
Not even a little. Seems like we get a ton of those during every severe thunderstorm.
@@lamargoat2.054or in the plain states like Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas. Those states get incredibly powerful supercell thunderstorms with crazy lightning.
That’s Florida-land for ya
Agreed
Nice compilation. Greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱.

Best one. 😍
That last one sounded like a positive bolt

guess that frame is not a greenhouse but just the remains of a house right?
7:39 veeery rare multi-stroke positive lightning. Amazing shot ❤
i recently heard this in long beach today, and at started at like 1:30 am for me. same loudness as these thunder strikes and there was rain too
I noticed in a couple of these videos you got almost no partial exposure. Is that because you running a slow shutter on your video?
*just an average day for Florida Man*
Question for any storm photography experts.
What's going on when we see those broad horizontal white stripes across the picture during a strike?
I've watched lots of these types of films and it seems to me that maybe if the strike isn't in the field of view this happens. Don't know really though. Would love somebody to explain. Thanks.
I’d totally light a joint and sit out there in that glass house and watch the thunderstorm
0:08 How scary can that be when you’re in the villa and hear the sound of the lightning coming over
7:46 wow! That was an epic timpani solo
How do you sleep during night storms.....
When was that last one taken?
That very last one!!! Definitely a positive strike.
Other than the flickering, it does look and sound positive.
@@hermanuslemmer1695, flickering positive CG lightning is the best because it is so rare to see them. Another video I saw that showed a flickering positive CG strike did a return of four flicks when I slowed that video down. This positive CG flicked about five times.
@@erikflynn3376 It's possible that these are bipolar lightning flashes. Positive restrikes in the same channel are rare... more than one restrike is REALLY rare. As a matter of fact I was just reading a paper that analyzed a positive restrike.
Bipolar lightning flashes are usually positive first strokes, negative subsequent strokes. Basically what happens is that the side branches "back-feed" down the main channel after it decays.
Listen to this with ear buds. It sounds so realistic!
What part of Florida is this? I'm in Jacksonville FL
you are very best

Really love it very dangerous and interested sounds ,I hear by handfree
Lots of CG's. This video is so cool. Here in the San Fernando Valley, summer thunderstorms are very rare. 95% of thunderstorms here usually occur in winter, especially during El Nino, usually in February.
Unless you get a rare monsoon boomer coming off the San Gabriels in August.
@@oldiesmusic76 I think that happens once every five years here in the San Fernando Valley.
Amazing
Last one I never heard in my life, and I wish I would. Other than that last one was the best
Very cool! OH YEAH!!! Noss!!!
0:01 begined the bolts sound like bombing😂.
How hasn't every house in C. Florida not been burnt to the ground yet? Jeez, in the UK we are lucky to get a couple of storms a year, let alone get lightning strikes this close.
here were i live in Belgium is also pretty boring thunderstorm. almost no chance of Lighting strikes, let alone loud extreme thunder and some close calls. i miss the older days were it was crazy but most of the time (especially the last three to four years), thunderstorms in the West Flanders are realy boring and few and far between. and when there is a crazier storm it was after all just another boring Belgian storm, not much hard loud thunder or crazy CG's.
These storms happen every day in the afternoon from May to August
@@ketchup75 how are they so fire resistant?

@@LucasVanderBartlett for one, homes don’t go in flames when struck by lightning, for two, it’s a thunderstorm so it’s raining… and for three the moisture in Florida is way to high for that to happen during summer
Scary Lightning 😰😨
These lightning strikes are so scary
The last one impressed the dog.
I got my new iPhone 13 Pro Max for Christmas and I’m looking forward to using it while videoing storms
Scary Lightning 😰
That last one is impressive for how far away it was. That had to be at least 4.5 miles away and sounded like it was right overhead
These GREAT t-storms happen all year long or is there a specific month/time these amezing tstorms happen?
OMG! The last thunder I LOOOOOOOOVED IT.
How can I capture good pictures of lightning at night?
Great video man i wish I lived in Florida, Good ripper storms in America and I live in Brisbane Queensland Australia get similar Storms and gets pretty bad and really good giant balls of hail.
What an incredible sounding positive strike at the end of the video. They look different as well, very straight with no branching deviations.
That might have been what's known as a strike of branchless lightning. It's very rare. Pecos Hank speaks of it during one of his videos about lightning.
Nice

You know a lightning strike will be close and loud if you hear a faint clicking noise before it strikes. I always instinctively plug my ears when I hear that during a storm here.
This reminds me of Florida
Honestly, I find this shocking.
Oh that was a real hum-dinger! Awesome!

Wowwwww
I remember in Romania i was in a roadtrip the thunder struck and the entire mountain range suddenly went from quiet to boom and its like 80km
