Cleaning mouse pad in the bathtub

I wonder if other people out there clean their mouse pad like I do. I started doing it this way about a year ago and it works for me. My wife just puts it in the washer machine like most people may do, but to me it seems like it's never the same once you do it that way. One thing I wish I would have done was use a stain remover like shout-out like my wife does, I'm sure it would have been even better.
