Some more Arthur Russell ephemera... Here is another rare, albeit short, recording of Arthur's voice, discussing the vocal style of 80s pop stars Prefab Sprout with NPR host Andy Lyman in 1988. At the end of the excerpt, I also include samples of Prefab Sprout and Arthur's music, which mutually enjoy the close mic'd sound of a gentle human voice.

Wow I’ve never heard his speaking voice
So astute of Arthur to pick out the EQ of Prefab Sprout's work when he could have talked about all the other astonishing qualities of their music like lyrics and harmony. It wouldn't be the first thing that comes to my mind. As a fan of both artists, to me, this is a fantastic upload.
I wish Arthur and Prefab sprout had collaborated
Beautiful insight beautiful voice beautiful man
Love them both
Arthur had such a great voice all around! Thanks for sharing this little morsel. Reminds me that I oughta revisit Prefab too.
thank you for this very important life saving content
fascinating. they sound like the kind of band he would love
Nice one yet again Matt
what's the song of the intro?
Might be the outro from when love breaks down
The Venus of the Soup Kitchen!
@@dylanmedlock2864 One of their weakest songs. From Langley Park To Memphis is a highly accomplished album but that song is a let down.
@@eightiesmusic1984Are you actually serious? Thats probably my favourite song on the album. That song is beautifully written amd composed
@@gingerballin Of course, it is an opinion. I have been listening to the album since its release and for me it is the weakest track. It is great that you like it , that is the whole point. Music is subjective.
