Love the video ,I was born n raised in East Reading ,70’s 80’s ,we climbed all those mountains from behind Pendora ,Engleman’s ,up Neversink all the way to south mountain,,never encountered any bears thankfully ,thanks for sharing this ❤️ Be safe
This is the first big foot video I caught and I loved it! I feel confident that the family did have an encounter of some kind that spooked them. I also agree with you that if Bigfoot exists, he is in the more remote places of the world. I love how varied your channel is with natural history, geology, history, and folklore. Thank you!
As far as bears not being as far south as you are in this video, I think you’d be surprised, a year ago the was a bear that had to be shot with a tranquilizer and relocated, it was in Southampton Pa! Which is a few minutes away from NE Philadelphia! South Eastern Montgomery County! I guess he was looking for a picnic basket and took a wrong turn! 😆
Just found your channel; I’m from Reading and I love hearing about and seeing Berks County. Makes me super homesick. Thank you. Smashed that subscribe button.
I'm reading Wood Booger by Melissa George right now. Lol. So my mind is on Big Foot and then this Cliff video pops up. Decent book. Great video. Have fun y'all 👍 😊
A woman just saw a bear in her garage in Steelton. I personally saw one on the south side of Hershey a few years ago.. Don't think that bears can't find their way to a lot of places you wouldn't expect.
Really loved that thanks.. that story was fantastic.. I’m quite prepared to believe it. The area looks good for it. I just hope no-one ever catches one. Thanks for taking me along. Please take care
Geez, some of the folks in the comments section, "ItWasn'tABigfoot!", "There'sNoSuchThingAsBigfoot!", "ItWasABearThere'sNoBigfoot!". Just chill out and enjoy the story and relax a little, already! It's folklore, 'ghost-story-around-the-campfire' type story. It's fun. People see things they can't explain from time to time.
I think you're right and it was a human. You're definitely also right about your mind filling in the blanks so it may have even been a deer. Nice story man!
I guess the part that takes away from it being a person is that it ran through the brush. Not a normal reaction for a person, especially someone who doesn't spend a lot of time in the woods. I would think they'd try to stay hidden or take the easy route out.
My eyes lit up when I saw another bigfoot video. I worked with people suffering from mental illness for many years. Depending on the diagnosis or medication, such a person may feel cold even in 90 degree weather. I knew people who wore heavy winter coats all year round. A homeless person with paranoid schizophenia would fit the bill. if the guy really did see something like he describes.
i love bigfoot stories and i've been to the pagoda down the road but never got to explore the surrounding area. personally i believe ppl when they say they've seen something strange. bears and ppl dressed in all black are relatively easy to identify. could you do a video on the pagoda? the story behind it is interesting and it has great views of reading.
Bigfoot stories have been around for centuries... They would have to die at some point. Have any bones ever been found that would give evidence that such a huge creature exists? Thanks for the story, Cliff!
Exactly! When I’ve argued that same fact with a Bigfoot “expert” and apparently they’re inter dimensional beings that know when a camera is pointing at them
With the increase of population, practically every square foot of this country is claimed as someones property one way or another, hunters that frequent all parts that could easily shoot to kill, increased use of trail cams, dash cams from roadways, etc etc there’s not a single shred of evidence to date. Could it have been a creature centuries ago? Possibly, but today definitely no.
I would guess 60% chance it was a bear, 39.999% person, less than 0.001% bigfoot. Given that bears occasionally wander right into Scranton and the surrounding towns, being close to Reading, even in atypical area for bears, isn't much of a stretch. Love the bigfoot stories though. I'm doubtful of the existence of such a creature, but I'd love to be proven wrong.
Well, it don't matter if you were in the same place as that family because bigfoot was not at either place, he/she does not exist. I have never called anybody a liar or story teller when it comes to seeing strange movements out of the blue. I prefer to give them the benefit of the doubt and what he saw was probably a few deer. The woods would be pretty thick with foliage by Memorial day, it was also hot, probably had sun glasses on and he was tired, he admits to being tired, so, a large deer on it's hind legs leaping off?? That's my guess.😆😆😆
Hello cliff I think what you said I think someone got startled from the father wearing all black with long black hair that's what I think till next time stay safe take care watch out for bigfoot love from upstate New York
Great story, I like the series your doing on this. But isn’t odd how with most of these stories the folks involved always have an excuse for not being able to get a good picture, makes you wonder!!
Do you ever go Bigfoot hunting in other states , I’m from Oklahoma people claim to have sightings there including my own brother in law in Latimer county
I will never judge anyone, but my gut feeling after listening to the story is, once again, a bear. The story was kinda vague on the running away part. Did it run away on two feet? Or four? Running on two feet would definitely eliminate the possibility of it being a bear. But the story only said it ran away. Another part of the story that leads me to believe it was a bear was the "crashing through the brush" part after seeing them. Bears have very poor vision. I've witnessed, as a hunter, a startled bear crashing through whatever is in its path up to and including small trees. A seven foot bear would be a very large and very heavy animal that can run at speeds of 30+ miles per hour. A fast a location goes, near reading I believe you said, bears are opportunistic feeders. They will go wherever the food is. Be it berries, acorns, etc. Bears do try to avoid human interactions, but as I said, they will go where the food is. I live in a smaller borough in northern Dauphin County, population around 3,500 people give or take. The town is located on the side of a mountain. Bears, when hungry, have been spotted walking down several streets inside the borough. As a matter of fact, I have photos and video footage of a 600+ pound bear in my yard. As you said, I wasn't there, and I do not judge people, but in my mind after hearing the story I'm thinking it was a bear.
@Grizz Not going to argue about it. Just staring my opinion with my knowledge of bears. I will say this though, you could walk the entire Appalachian trail and possibly not see a bear. Does that mean there are none?
i would love to see a big foot or a ghost or a flying saucer But have never seen any thing like that . But i do injoy hearing about them. But i don' belive thay exist.
In regard to actual people, do you ever feel unsafe out in woods by yourself? I know most are friendly but there are those few that are less than friendly
😉 A quick Google search, stated... Caught on camera: Backbear in Berks, An article by, Amanda VanAllen... back July 2nd 2016 A brief part of the article said... "People living on and around Mount Penn are being advised to be on the lookout for a black bear roaming through the woods." So could it have been a black bear??? 🤔 apparently so...
Always like a Bigfoot in PA tale 😃
Great story, as usual. Thank you! I am a native of western PA. Our woods are mysterious.

I definitely DO look forward to these!!!
11 bears were harvested in Berks County last year, I wouldn't doubt that one could have passed thru there.

This was an interesting story. Thank you for the telling. Maybe it was a person, maybe even lived in the spring house.
Love those stories!

Thanks for the story, Cliff!
Cliff,
This story was by Connie and Bess Sativa!
Cheers,
Rik Spector
Springhouse s are naturally cool. If it was hot out maybe a Bigfoot creature was seeking a quiet place to "Chill Out"?
Definitely a Bigfoot or the Ghost of Old Black Joe!
a bear was strolling thru topton just last summer and a bear was seen around doe mountain in longswamp township
Love the story…knowing what I know about human nature and human imagination…prob a prank
Is Neversink Mountain considered PA state game land?
nope
It’s no mystery that there’re no confirmed Bigfoot sightings on this planet.
Exactly! When I’ve argued that same fact with a Bigfoot “expert” and apparently they’re inter dimensional beings that know when a camera is pointing at them
They; but there is no proof they do not exist…love the argument on both sides for sure…it’s cool to imagine sometimes😁

He was smoking 🚬 the good stuff o yeah
Bigfoot behind you watch out
I watch a lot of BF documentaries and they are seen a lot at springs, so there is some credibility.

My thoughts on having strange encounters; Cliff you rather see no strange encounters. Just my thought

He saw something it might be someone up to something 🤔
where can I find this story?
I feel like it was a person. Black hoodie could conceal a face if it's big enough.
READING PA? RIGHT

I'd be more apt to believe a story if they saw it for more than just a second...the mind can fill in unanswered questions
