- Smitswinkel Bay - We love this place!
In this video we explored the Cape Peninsula from Muizenberg to Smitswinkel Bay, and stopped at some of our favourite places in Muizenberg, St James, Kalk Bay, Fish Hoek and Simon's Town.
We stayed overnight in Smitswinkel Bay and the place stole our hearts! Tucked away and off the grid, yet so close to Cape Town, what a special breakaway! Join us as we show you our sea shack hideaway...

What a magical place, I’m obsessed! If I could get on a flight to CT tomorrow I would. I come to your channel when I need to de-stress and fill my eyes with beautiful scenery, listen to good music, and watch the adventures of two lovely people. I will have to put that cottage near the top of my list of places to go. Wow.
Hi Alannah, thanks for your wonderful comments! 😀 It is humbling to us that you come to our channel to de-stress, but we love hearing it! When are you getting on that flight to CT? Smitswinkel Bay is very special in its rugged beauty, and yes, that cottage just fits the whole experience... 😉 Thanks for watching 🙏
@@backroadchronicles soon I hope!
@@backroadchronicles I’d come in a heartbeat if I could! Soon soon.
Stunning videos guys, your an inspiration to everyone to get out and explore our countries surroundings 😉
@@peterwilson3495 Thanks, Peter! 😀
Ah guys... I'm such a fan of your channel!
Annelie, love how happy-go-lucky and free spirited you are.
Werner, you're a rock star for literally driving up practically vertical rocky terrain 😅 I kinda hold my breath every time lol
This video has made me so lus for the Cape- my dream to see it one day!
Love how you film, the choice of music, and Frikkie was such a cute addition to the video!
Love it guys ❤
Thanks so much so nice to get such lovely feedback! Hope you will get a chance to explore in Cape Town❤

Thanks Annelie- me too! 💗
I know that you guys do probably want to try showcase new places with your videos, but I do hope you might do a longer segment on Fish Hoek if you ever revisit it 😊
My mom told me wonderful stories about her childhood holidays to Fish Hoek on the overnight sleeper train, and treats at The Green Parrot Tea Room which I believe ran for many many years 😊 She also used to bravely go for long swims at the lovely Fish Hoek main beach back when there weren't even shark nets 😖 Also told me about wonderful walks along the Fish Hoek catwalk.
So would be lovely if you did showcase some of these things and give my mom a little nostalgia 😉
In general thanks so much for your lovely videos. I enjoy them so much and even my mom liked them very much when I showed her 😊
Can't wait to see your next videos 🤗
@@poetryinmotion23 ah that is such a lovely story! Sadly we Did take some footage of Fishoek but somehow it didn’t film👀
I've spent a few weekends at Smitswinkle in that big rondawel house. Just love it there.
@@lindakukard1557 thanks, Linda, for your comment 😀 We agree, Smitswinkel Bay grabs one’s imagination…
Nou ja, slim soos die RUclips Algoritme is, is hierdie toe ook die volgende video op my "recommended" lys!!!😅
Nou ken ons julle ook sommer beter...
Dankie, het die video baie geniet!!
Groete,
Gerhard & Elma.
Dankie! 😀
I came for the views...I stayed for Frikkie. Amazing video!
Thanks, @bridgetsmith5740 ! Frikkie is the best. We cannot take him on all our trips, but do so whenever we can 😀. Frikkie also features in the ‘Back to the Past’ and ‘Car Bed’ videos… 🙂
@backroadchronicles they are added to our list! Thank you friends & Frikkie.

Awesome video
Great editing
Very entertaining
Thanks! Glad you liked it and thanks for the comment 😀
So happy to meet Frikkie and delighted that he accompanied you on this trip - hope he’s going to be a regular - I’m a dog lover! Just tell “them” that he’s an emotional support dog 😉
Thank you for “really introducing yourselves” in this episode, Annelie and Werner. I’d already decided I liked you a lot, but this really cemented my decision to follow your wonderful channel. Your wonderful filming, music selection and easy informative chatter is truly delightful! I absolutely loved this episode! Thank you 🙏🏻
Frikkie made this cottage his home without a second thought. He’s a precious little chap. BTW, I also love Terbodore coffee!
Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback. We are so glad that you’ve enjoyed the video. Your comments made our day! 😀 Werner, Annelie and Frikkie
Love this ❤❤❤
Thanks! 😀
Thanks Lerato❤
That is really nice. How did they build there must be some way or roads. Thanks. Stunning
Thanks so much Leon, apparently each piece of building material was either carried down or brought to shore on small boats…. A very special place!
Hi Leon, there is a much longer trail down the valley where one can reach Smitswinkel Bay ride with a quad bike, but nothing larger than that. It must have been a challenge to build houses there, and it remains a challenge to stock and maintain the houses, e.g. gas bottles need to be carried down (and up!) all the way 🙂 Thanks for your interest, Werner and Annelie
@@backroadchronicles thank you very interesting
Very nice place. Would love it to spend a night there
