I am considering driving to the start line from Orange County on race day, this year. Is that a good idea? Want to check with folks who have raced this one before.
The race usually discourages people driving to the start line, but there is a place to park where buses will take you to the start and buses will take you from the finish back to parking.
The weather at the start line was pretty awesome! Which was really helpful for the rolling hills at the start of the marathon. It does start to heat up at towards the last 1/3 of the race, but nothing extreme. If you're on the fence about this race, you'll love it!
I think the first 6-7 miles of rolling hills was a little tough to hold back. Sometimes a lot of nervous energy can be spent here. Going downhill for the rest of the race is a lot of fun! However, the downhill can beat your legs up quite a bit. I suggest including strength training a few times a week to help prep your legs for the race!
Big Bear is about 5000ft net downhill whereas CIM is only about 350ft downhill. Huge difference there. Consequently I’d imagine Big Bear is faster as long as you don’t get too crazy and get injured from all that impact on your body. I’m doing both races this year in November and December 😬 so I’ll be able to let you know for sure after. Lol
I just did this marathon a few days ago and your post really helped me prepare. Thank you!!!!!! Oh, and I crushed it.
Cool video!
Thanks for posting! I'll be running my 1st revel on 11/18/23!
Awesome!! Big Bear is one of my favorites! You're going to crush it!!
Thanks for sharing
You're welcome! Enjoy the race!
Enjoyed this race! Would love to do it again. Thanks for sharing 🤙
I'm looking forward to this fall. I hope to see you at the start line!
What a bummer that the bus got you there late but at least you could run still.
Another year, another run! Let’s go! 11/12/2022!
I was 3rd overall last year for the marathon. Hopefully they have it this year. Those views were beyond amazing.
I agree! Views were 🔥🔥🔥
What hotel did you stay at? I’m gonna do the race last minute this year!
I stayed at the Homewood Suites by Hilton San Bernardino.
@@delsolrunner Thank you! That’s the one I’m looking at!
Which leg cramp tablet did you use? Link to buy it??

Way to go! Any advice for running downhill? I'm doing Wasatch soon!
Good luck with Wasatch! I wish I was running that race. I'll have to put together a downhill running technique video soon!
Great job! The views look spectacular. What were the temperatures like?

Has anyone ran CIM before? Can you tell me how the two races compare or contrast? Was this faster?
