Another excellent video
Thanks so much Ruby!! We had so much fun with Mike, he is so great and that means a ton coming from you!
Very helpful video, thanks! What grit is the diamond stone you're using? Many that I see come in sets with multiple grits, is that necessary? Thanks!
The stone they were using in the video is a 1000 grit. You can totally use others as well depending on what you want and need.
What is he using for the "abrasive soap" on the felt wheel? Would Tripoli or White Diamond compound work?
Yes I believe Tripoli or white diamond would work for sure :-)
@@TurnersTv Thanks!
Are there any tips for sharpening the #5 in the kit?
Ohh good question! I will try to get him to go over this at SWAT and get a little video of it!
@@TurnersTv - Awesome - have fun at SWAT!
Where can I find "felt wheels"? I am having trouble finding a felt wheel for the grinder. Maybe I need a different search term than "grinder felt wheel". I keep seeing compressed wool wheels when I search. Do I want compressed or something else?
We are about to fly to SWAT and hang with Mike for the weekend (he is going to be doing some live demos for us) and I will totally ask about this and get a good source in the US, and get back with ya!
@@TurnersTv - Did you have a chance to talk to Mike about this?
Yes and he told us that we can make them, but is unaware of any US providers. Chad has been trying to source them as well since we would like to be able to sell them (as well as have one for our set of tools) I will keep you posted as we work on it :-)
Have you been using the tools? I have been practicing a bit with them since SWAT and am really liking them, but am also struggling with the sharpening lol
@@TurnersTv - Thanks! I've used them a bit but I haven't gotten them as sharp as I want yet. I've also been working on my St. Jude's items so haven't had time for carving recently.
Yeah I used Mikes while we were in Texas and then was like oh no... I gotta figure out this sharpening better lol. And yay!! Excited to hear that you are working on ornaments!! Yours are always favorites in the bidding :-)
