Hey! Let me try to answer to you here
There are couple of variables here. First, what is the craftsmanship level. Because 50-80k in EU countries is around Mid-Sen position while in USA I believe it's around Jun-Mid. (but as far as I know get FTE remote USA job not living in the country is almost impossible due to some legal stuff. And they paid contractors not that much)
But let's assume you targeting around Mid-Sen level (like top Mid or beginning of Senior)
If you already have backend engineering experience, so you are not newbie and you want to use OSS to grow your Golan skills - most likely yes. You will have good showcase of your work + your experienced already.
But if it's is only your experience - honestly, I don't know
I never used OSS contribution to grow some tech skills, probably I am not the best adviser here.
I remember once we hired a guy because of his GitHub profile but not due to OSS, but to his own personal projects. They were very aligned with what we did. But again, it was around start-Mid position back then.
If you have a chance to start doing not only OSS in Go, but olso commercial development - that would be better

With JavaScript it's harder. At least in my perspective.
JS usually means what: Frontend development and a little bit of backend. And Frontend development in general has lower salaries as backend or many others. So in order to get to the same salary you need to have higher level comparing to other crafts with the same salary. Hope it make sense what I wrote
and I personally would recommend to switch into TypeScript. You still can use that for Frontend development, you can use all JS libraries ecosystem, but the language itself is way better and paid more
I did an overview of programming language for beginners. I believe you are not a beginner, but I described some points about TypeScript, maybe you could be interested
