- We've started to renovate our bathroom and as I'm doing most of the work it made sense to incorporate some video projects. I'm making the vanity first from a local hardwood (Gympie Messmate) which I picked up from Darcy at Mooloo Timbers. Check them out here www.moolootimb...
I still need to make a sink, a mirror cabinet and a built in cupboard. And on top of that the waterproofing, tiling and painting. Let me know if you want to see videos of these.
As always I'm happy to answer any questions.

That's not just any big kangaroo, that's Matilda, the mascot of the '82 Brisbane Commonwealth Games.
To make it taller, just make a decorative spacer to go between the apron and the cabinet. It'll look great and no one will ever know you didn't intend it to be that way.
That's a great idea! I'm going through all my options before I do anything. :)
That’s exactly what came to mind for me too.
@@PaskMakes a "skirt" going around with a kumiko-like pattern? or patterned plywood?
As usual, freaking amazing.
This reminds me of the '60s - '70s futuristic furniture designs.
They were slick and molded and put legs on everything.
Master craftsman.
Glad you like it Stephen, I wanted something with a bit of style but not over the top. :)
Absolutely fantastic...No comment, looks like it came out of some render.
Try and keep count of how many clever woodworking tips are actually used in this video. You''ll lose count after a few minutes!
Those drawer fronts and pulls look absolutely amazing, Neil!
Love the sculptured handles. You came up with a genius combination of methods to achieve a Ferrari-like shape. The continuous grain plus the sculpted handles raises the look in a subtle, undefinable way. Thanks for sharing these!
The template setup with the belt sander is brilliant!
I second your comment enthusiastically!
I love the handles in particular but it all came together very nicely - great design Neil!
Thanks Jonathan - I was pretty pleased with how the handles came out! :)
The three-in-one leg jig is brilliant, Neil.
Glad you enjoyed it! :)
So great to see Matilda again after more than 40 years! My sister was one of the school kids involved with the '82 games opening ceremony. Great project and great vid as always!
I'm really impressed with how he knew how little tape he needed to remove the last bit of wood that's not even half a millimeter thick.
That ladies and gentlemen is absolutely crazy and it is very clear that he has many, many years of experience in this.
I'm trying to think if I did a test, I don't think I did though, so probably just lucky. :)
Impeccable work as always Neil. It looks absolutely beautiful.
I was trying to find the right adjectives... impeccable is a good one! I came up with elegant and gorgeous. And beautiful works, too. All 4, and probably a bunch more, really. :)
Thanks very much! :)
I agree 100 % beautiful
I really appreciate the shots in the video that are purely there for storytelling, like the view from inside the milk crate, or the camera attached to the panel as it went through the sander.
Neil,
This is brilliant work. Your jig to cut the leg angles was especially inspiring.
What a gorgeous piece of furniture. You've made some beautiful pieces in the past but this is just the best. There is nothing like a handmade, top of the line bit of kit. The love you put into this is obvious. Thanks for sharing this. My dad did things like this and you brought him back for a while. Thanks, mate.
Thanks very much Vickie - glad you like it! :)
Your videos are always educational, entertaining, and fun to watch. Thank you for all the effort you put into your craft and into sharing it with the world.
Glad you're enjoying them Tim! :)
Be hard not to enjoy your videos
That tape on the edge of the board to offset the groove trick was good, never thought of that!
Love watching a master craftsman. This man never disappoints.
The handle design is outstanding
That is a beautiful piece of furniture, looking forward to seeing the rest of the make over. I have loved that style of handle ever since I seen Ramon valdez use something similar them on his creations. If you've not seen his work it is well worth a look he also does some amazing work, the inlays he puts on his furniture are just amazing. 👍keep up the good work and those videos coming.
An incredible video, my friend. I am still amazed by the meticulousness of your creations, the details, and the fine craftsmanship. My most sincere congratulations once again, you are an example for everyone
You make it look so easy but I see years of experience in each step along the way. Beautiful piece.
Thanks Justin! :)
That tape trick to “nudge it over just a touch”… very handy trick.
Haha, I find it funny that you were not comfortable cutting the round over on the handles with the router, so instead you made off angle cuts on the _tablesaw._ Beautiful work as always, Neil. I always enjoy your approach to woodworking. It makes it comfortable to the layman.
Love the occasional "project's" go-pro POV. Gorgeous end result!
In awe at your arcane skills in designing jigs that achieve magic: repeatability and efficiency.
It look`s brilliant, like made from a professional carpenter😇
Especially the handles are so unique!
Congratulation Neil!!!
My husband isn't particularly into woodworking vids like I am but we both always blown away by the simple, effective engineering of your jigs!
As a woodworker myself, the most satisfying thing about a jig is when it´s as simple as possible.
The two alternated 60 degree cuts followed by the 45 degree cut to create the rough curves is such a great trick. Love those drawer pulls!
Those drawer pulls are absolutely INSPIRED........................the organic flow of them brings to mind water...........an obvious intention, but so well designed and crafted that they are totally unique.
You got some really great shots in this video! The rotating shot on the table saw and the one with the crate going over it! Well done sir!
Pask the new legs are crying out to follow the same curve as those handles - it’ll all tie in lovely, blue 👌🏻👌🏻
Absolute masterclass. I wish I had a fraction of your talent.
Yay for more woodworking content!
This actually came at a perfect time for me, since the Overlord finally approved some serious bathroom remodeling.
Hopefully it's helpful to you! Thanks :)
Love your projects. Very nice. You should do a video on concealed or hidden drawers, false bottoms etc…
It looks great as per usual for all of your work. Can't wait to see you make the basin.
I love those drawer handles!! When i saw the thumbnail and the vid title, i did as I usually do and tried to figure out how I'd make handles like that. I had it pretty well worked out before starting the video, and as usual, i was nowhere near right. Not even close. And usilng the belt sander instead of router to shape the handles surprised me. What a beautiful solution that was!! Thank you once again for a fantastic, entertaining, and educational video As usual.
Fantastic as always. Also love those new dynamic camera angles!
Amazing! The belt grinder trick was genius!
Beautiful work! Also wanted to compliment your cool camera angles throughout this video. So fun!🤗
Looks great!
1. I love having the legs proud of the stretchers. Adds an elegant detail and saves the fiddly nature of getting them flush.
2. 21:24 Instead of dowels, this would be an excellent place to use pocket screws. Very strong, easier, and no one is going to see it.
Must mention, that kayak is insane. Nice job on the cabinet also!
Thank you for all your videos. You are very clear step by step. You are training this beginner wood cutter well.😊
dem drawer pulls are bussin
Beautiful, Neil. It'll be a showstopper in the loo!
Nice mid-century modern look…that’s how i decorated my whole condo!
Hadn't thought about messmate for about 20 years. Great for sprung basketball courts.
Lovely build with an interesting handle shape.
Very nice that you took us with you on the shopping trip too! 🦘
Love me some reno content!
I always find there's something poetic about good, thougtful craftmanship. I watch your videos religiously, they are so soothing and wholesome !!!!
i always marvel when any of your uploads get any downvotes. Sheer insanity. Keep on keeping on Pask. God help us.
You are a genius. I love watching all you build. Absolute perfection. ❤
17:09 Pask thinks out loud: “I reckon it look awesome”. This is an understatement. The sculpted handles ts what makes this vanity an outstanding build. Bravo!
The pattern-following concept using your belt sander is brilliant. I would love to see your take on furniture style kitchen cabinets
I'm really pleased with pattern following technique, I reckon it's awesome. A lot of dust though. I've tried designing a kitchen island so many times but I've never been happy with anything so far. :)
The handles are gorgeous.
I’m so happy you shared this! I’m building my own bathroom vanity, it’s 31” wide so mine is tiny but it’s nice to see your perspective on your own vanity which is stunning!!! I can’t wait to see the next step
Awesome! Nothing like making your own furniture. :)
Reminiscent of the 60's in the USA. Really solid work.
Love the handles. Timber is really nice and I think the legs look perfect.
A man with a plan, lots of wonderfull time saving trickery going on here. Fun watch.
Awesome. That's a nice tip with the tape on the guide to router a slightly wider rabbet too
Looks amazing Neil! Love those handles
I love the template sander! I've been doing this for a loooooong time and I've never seen that. Your kayak is beautiful, too. Thanks!
Lovely handles 👏 Looks likexa natural part of that piece
The handles have a complex and lovely shape. It's always a pleasure to watch your work and learn from you, Neil!
I definitely love it. I’d be proud of it. I can’t wait to see the finished piece. One love!
I think it looks brilliant Neil. I really like how the grain stands out and it has a really retro look about it. Kind of late 70s and solid build.
Wonderful video as always mate 👌🏼👍🏼😉
I was concerned at first about the pulls, but really liked the way you cleaned them up.
Yeah, they had to evolve and go past the ugly stage. :)
I would love to see a follow up in a year or so, about how it fares against bathrooms dynamic climate :)
Great pieces . Can't wait to see all put together in the bathroom.
It does look quite nice and I like the sweep of the drawer pulls.
modern and retro vibe...lovely piece!
That does look really nice. The handles are the eye catching feature. Nice work.
Absolutely stunning mate. Your wife must be so chuffed to have your hobby produce such immaculate pieces of fictional art. The timber choice is beautiful too 👍
thats insanley good, its the best basin unit ive seen and im a plumber
Beautiful! I love that your work must be popping up all around your home. Thanks for sharing
That's a very beautiful piece... Watching woodworker like you is what encouraged me to take up woodworking... thanks!
Knowing that it isn't complete without a sink yet, I think that the leg height looks perfect. Nice work again, I love how it turned out.
Thanks Tobias - I still think it's a touch too short even though I reckon I could just get away with using it as it is. :)
Neil you make it look so easy but I know it isn’t. I. Have none of the space, equipment, skills or experience to do this myself but watching these videos really makes me appreciate the effort and skill required to make these sorts of pieces. Amazing work, thanks for sharing.
Neil, this is another beautiful piece and a testament to your ever growing mastery. Thank you for sharing it with us.
The handles are elegant and organic looking, like if you'd persuade the tree to grow them like this.
Your jigs.. they are simple, efficient and once I see them, they make total sense. But I would have crazy difficult time to come up with them myself. Your brain, and spatial and geometric perception are on another level, I think.
I also really enjoy the production quality of your videos.
Thank you for showing us a bit of stunning Australia too! Have a nice day
Beautiful piece. Love that wood, light coloured, but still some sweet contrasting grain that you don't need to try and "enhance" it with any special finish/oils. Also, looks especially sweet with all the following/wrapping grain going around on every part. Handles turned out really nice.
Thanks very much - I've never used Messmate before and I love it too. :)
Always a present, a video of PasMakes. Thanks so much ❤
its absolutely beautiful! looks like a bit of kernov in the sweep of the handles, very elegant.
As always, another fantastic project by you!!!!
Beautiful piece. Also: loving the new camera angles. Getting adventurous! Tough to do something like that without ripping off Frank but you've managed it. Looking forward to more.
Neil, your multiple skills and workmanship blow me away. What a beautiful piece of bathroom furniture.
I think this is one of you best pieces so far! Nice work.
surely i wouldn't had the patience to do the six handles, great work! greetings from Switzerland.
I really enjoyed seeing how to made the handles. My parents had a dresser with a similar style of handle, and I'd always wondered how they made it. Thank you.
The proportions seem perfect in the video. Unless your ergonomic requirements demand, I'd suggest you left the legs as they are. Mate your videos are great. Well paced and thoroughly explained. It is a pleasure to watch. Keep'em rolling!🙏🏻👍🏻😉
16:13 Fun fact, this is not sped up. Lots of people think he's speeding up the footage but he's just done so much sanding that this is his regular speed. ;)
Superb Neil, like the retro look too
Cannot wait to see it come together with the sink!
Awesome job!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻❤️❤️❤️
LOVE this cabinet. I can't help noting the time it took to make it. For your sake I hope your wife doesn't strangle you before you get ALL of the accoutrements done for her bathroom.🤣😂😉😉
The handles really turned out great and the grain matching across the drawers looks fantastic.
Those drawer pulls set it off really nice work mate I love it
The leg jig was amazing!
Love the cabinet, can't wait for next video.
The handles really make it, nice one.
Looks great Neil! 👍👍
What a beautiful piece
Awesome project, very beautiful. Also, I liked the dynamic camera work throughout, it made an engaging video 👍
Great design and execution, beautiful work. I actually like the proportions just the way it is, the legs look right to me.
