The most insane thing about this is the sacrifice that epic is doing, by keeping the shop nostalgically minimalistic right now. The biggest player surge ever, yet the microtransactions are being kept low on purpose, just to keep the bit going.
I remember when people were super over the top hating on Fortnite like it murdered their whole family, stuff like “i’m kicking any kids this halloween that dress as fortnite characters” fortnite wasn’t bad just popular, i never really liked it though, 50v50 mode was fun
Oh those years of Fortnite hate were horrible. For me it was even more horrible as I found out those who bullied people for playing Fortnite were the same people who got bullied for playing FNAF, Undertale, etc. I still see comments below saying nonsensical horrible shit about Fortnite and its players, but at least it’s way lesser than before.
I don´t play fortnite, not my type of game, but i gotta respect the developers for somehow managing to always bring something new. If all studios worked as hard, most of the og games wouldn´t be shit rn.
Let it be known that Fortnite today is a Nexus Hub World of crossover events, that's why it became popular (including a lot of memes that spawned from it) a few times throughout the years.
I used to love this game during the purple storm and zombie days 😂 ahhh yes, it was just seen as a mini battle royal games played ny indie gamers since it's still a new game it slowly picked up the pace and it eventually got popular when controversy and hate starts pouring in. because of the streamers and RUclipsrs seeing the opportunities, they started making content about it, targeted to kids, and that's where the downfall of Fortnite came, kids crashing in the game. that's also where I lost interest.
@@eiavops4576 Haha as someone who actually still plays Save the World (the mode you're referencing) after 5 years I can say you aren't missing much, Epic Games has decided to abandon the mode altogether so it unfortunately only has a campaign that abruptly ends because they didn't finish the last quarter of it. If they did make it free, they wouldn't be making money off it since they removed all the micro-transactions from the mode so you can't pay for anything in it anymore.
To add to my other comment, this map definitely fees a lot different than the other maps now that I het to compare them well again! Although the maps in the following chapters were more chaotic and I honestly did love that chaos, it felt pretty nice going back to this more open map!
Definitely, going back to this map felt like a surge of memory’s flooding back, helps that everyone I know is actively playing the game now like they used to back in 2018-2020
Stampy ended his lovely world, most of the classic youtubers are decling in quality, I can legally drive, Im gonna be an adult in a month. This is the last remnant of my childhood.
This is the same thing that happened to Minecraft, but on a much shorter time scale. Minecraft wasn’t super popular when it came out. It became that way because of RUclips and other social media platforms taking it mainstream. It was thought of as cringe for a long while after that initial explosion. And now, even with Microsoft forcing Mojang to make updates at gunpoint, people still play the game and still think highly of it, over a decade after its release.
It's so refreshing to have the old map back, there's been so many gameplay pollutants building up over the years that detracted from the pvp core of the game. It feels so pure now
One thing I can point to as a reason why Fortnite seemed to become popular amongst some of it's critics was the addition of the no-build mode. Many critics hated the building mechanic as with more skilled players could suddenly build massive structures in seconds if they were fired upon making the gameplay less fun and more irritating. No-Build completely fixes this issue for them and they can now enjoy the game as if it was a more traditional Battle Royale.
I am not a huge fan of shooters but I checked this season out because it seemed cool. I made a mistake, bought the battle-pass. I am afraid I may have wasted 10 bucks so I have been playing non stop to squeeze as much out of the 10 bucks as possible.
Also, nostalgias a hell of a drug. I started playing again because it feels good to remember those moments of waking up early with my little brother to play, and it just makes me happy.
As much as i feel weird playing this game again, i hope they add an OG map mode that could maybe cycle randomly through seasons 1-5 and their weapons (grappler being the only consistent one for zero build modes)
I don't really have nostalgia for this version of the map (it's from a little before I started playing off and on) but I am loving that it's back, the simplicity of the map feels right after how chaotic the maps have gotten over the years. I hope they keep this old map around in some way but I've got a feeling it's gonna go away again at the end of the season which is a shame, the old map being back actually convinced me to willingly play the Battle Royale mode for the first time in _years_
Yeah used to hating fortnite, especially bc they popularized the free game with battle pass (or paid game with battle pass.. for some reason..). But now, Fortnite's battle pass is one of, if not the most, friendly battlepasses out with you being able to buy the next battlepass by buying the previous one
Nahh man , the most friendly one gotta be the intergalactic one . From that game when the battle pass is finished they made that previous battle pass for free for everyone or just the people that bought it. It doesn't matter , the fact that they give back the battle pass and you can get one without giving money its amazing. Sure you can do it on fortnite but it takes sooo long. Not to mention that this battle pass is mostly s5 skins but better wow epic , you really made money from nostalgia
I remember the old video of kids doing Fortnite dances and feeling bad that adults were bullying 5 year olds for being kids, and then they would go another video and complain kids no longer act like kids, maybe if ya didn’t bully kids for being kids
I'm glad it's getting the love it once lost. The game is a lot of fun and has a lot of charm. I hope they bring back all the old maps, even the chapter 2 map, back when I started playing.
I was 13 back when that game launched, I made and lost friends playing that game. I'm now 19 and in college. A lot really did change for me and I bet it's the same for many others too. 6 years might not sound like a long period, but it's enough to feel nostalgia in this case.
Dawg if I land and see a kid build (in half a second) a 5 star hotel with free WiFi and room service and a luxury pool when they get damaged a slight bit, imma just leave.
I've been playing almost nonstop with my old squad, we've been having the best time. So far, I can't think of a single time I've gotten angry during Fortnite OG.
The problem of fortnite was it's marketed in the most things gamers hate when it comes to corpa titles but underneath it comes a a flexible game due to its game engine, hinted by it large set pieces of seasonal events and being able to create other game modes.
Kinda funny to think Fortnite was supposed to be Gmod of Unreal or Minecraft, but as the time goes on... The game itself was all just either BR or creative thing but less versatile just for new players.
I didn't play much of the battle royale part of Fortnite, I'm one of the OGs that plays Save The World. But a few months back, there a sudden dm i got drom my cousins if i wanna play Save The World again and grind v-bucks. I still had is installed and we had fun, even tried some other modes like parkouring, prop hunt, zombies, even adventure maps. Impressive how Fortnite how progressed. 🙂
I just realized I was 15, 5 years ago, I'm 20 now. Never played it then though, But my little brother did a lot, So I've been playing the game with him recently and its been fun. Still not a game I would play myself, but its been fun hanging out with my little brother. he is 13 and was playing the game when it released. He is very talented, I struggled to get a kill on him when he was 8 on any shooting game, now I cant even get one.
Og fortnite map was the one i grew up with friends since season 4 and seeing the map change and transform was amazing. Chp 2 was also great but the other ones was just not my cup of tea. Im glad Epic games thought about this and their veterans players on bringing the classic map.
Eh, it's the same as modern political discourse. No matter how much evidence you present against their stance, they're just gonna double down and refuse to acknowledge it
Its not because of the og map but instead because we only have a month to complete the entire battle pass which requires people to grind play the game to level up
The ghouls at Epic knew they could manipulate people into playing again with nostalgia. It’s the second best surefire way to entice people into doing something.
Funny thing about this OG map is that it's still new to me. It's newer than the last time I had actually played. So to me this isn't nostalgic at all, it's just a new experience. And tbh I'm loving it!
Honestly I expected this update to flop after seeing it, as it seemed like just away for epic games to fill their pockets again, a lot like Geometry Dash Lite, Meltdown, World and Subzero, but I guess not. Very impressive revival.
It's only 5 years old the game can't be nostalgic... Tf? Child be damned that game is way too modern and still updated to be nostalgic. Peoples brains must be fried from all the corpratism
Your brains are actually burned to a crisp for believing this. Age and years hardly do anything on nostalgia, it’s about how much things changed from one point to the other. I’ve seen people finding Fall Guys nostalgic 1-2 years after it’s release, cuz many things happened at that time. Chapter 1 map is nostalgic cuz Epic used to bring updates weekly throughout, that it felt like we’re playing it a long time.
yeah people trash on it a lot because of the players, mainly sweats who a. are you and have nothing else to do and get good at the game or b. playing the game is literally their job and they can’t help but get good at it, seems epic games has kinda fixed this with adding zero build mode and sure it has like half as much players as build mode but 500,000 is still a lot of players.
When fortnite first came out, I only played it a small handful of times, never won, then dropped it. For just about a year and a half now it's been my go to game to play with friends simply for the fact that the game is really fun if you just fuck around. People made fun of it for being "cringe," but that's just cause kids played it, and I won't lie. I made fun of it, too. I called it cringe, said fortnite sucks. But it's just a good fun game that didn't really deserve the hate. But this new "OG" season brings back a lot of memories for me. It's like when the game first came out on mobile before it disappeared after a couple of months. It's really fun to see them going back to what started it all when the game was at its biggest
Bro just because you don't like a game doesn't make it cringe I bet your favorite game is some random indie that no one knows about like wolf simulator.
Interesting how how something only 5 years old can be considered ""nostalgic."" Here's an example of a better *nostalgic* video game that holds up even a DECADE after release; Team Fortress 2.
its actually kind of smart berceuse of from what i heard how mid chapter 4 was and the lack of live events aswell as the ceo of epic stepping down they were loosing players so they added nostlotiga to the game they did that in season x (10) before they pulled the black hole stunt. It holds alot of nostalgia for alot fo people too 2018 was 5 years ago most people who played during that time who were kids now are almost adults and have to worry about actual life. its surreal to say the least seeing the old map after that much time kinda like talking to a old friend you haven't seen in 5 years

The most insane thing about this is the sacrifice that epic is doing, by keeping the shop nostalgically minimalistic right now. The biggest player surge ever, yet the microtransactions are being kept low on purpose, just to keep the bit going.
ohhhhh nooooo they’re suffering sooo much
As a fortnite player, this was truly was one the most jonesy moments of all time
Some people do call him "The Legend".
Being able to put together a squad of with Naruto Uzumaki, Optimus Prime, Rick Sanchez, and Darth Vegan has to be a sin against God.
Darth Vegan from Johnny Test? Sounds like a blessing.
if that is a sin against god then Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny would be sent straight to hell
dont forget doom slayer, daryl dixon, rick grimes, kratos, bender, boba fett, megatron
I used to love this game during the purple storm and zombie days 😂 ahhh yes, it was just seen as a mini battle royal games played ny indie gamers since it's still a new game
it slowly picked up the pace and it eventually got popular when controversy and hate starts pouring in. because of the streamers and RUclipsrs seeing the opportunities, they started making content about it, targeted to kids, and that's where the downfall of Fortnite came, kids crashing in the game. that's also where I lost interest.
I still remember when epic blue balled us by saying the zombie gamemode was gonna become free
Nostalgia is a powerful tool
Dude, It’s Peak again, that’s all you gotta know
This is the same thing that happened to Minecraft, but on a much shorter time scale.
Minecraft is objectively better than Fortnite
I got my first job when Fortnite launched. As I was fumbling around in it, I kept reading how Fortnite was buggier than a grannys ' garden
Guess what….
@@orynx2835 oh damn that's actually cool. But at least both are better than other games' battle passes which is just predatory
That wasn’t really Fortnite fault though, that was just companies band wagoning for money
I remember the old video of kids doing Fortnite dances and feeling bad that adults were bullying 5 year olds for being kids, and then they would go another video and complain kids no longer act like kids, maybe if ya didn’t bully kids for being kids
I never played Fortnite even when it was big. Now I kinda want to give it a shot with some friends.
The amount of memes about Tilted Towers, What Happens on the Battle Bus SFM, and RUclipsrs like Berd doing animation skits of "Early" John Wick.
Don't forget the Tomato Town Massacre
I'm glad it's getting the love it once lost. The game is a lot of fun and has a lot of charm. I hope they bring back all the old maps, even the chapter 2 map, back when I started playing.
I was 13 back when that game launched, I made and lost friends playing that game. I'm now 19 and in college. A lot really did change for me and I bet it's the same for many others too. 6 years might not sound like a long period, but it's enough to feel nostalgia in this case.
I played for the first time in a while recently, and the no-build mode Is heaven. I love not dealing with the sweaty 9-year-olds.
Its not sweaty they are just good at the game
I don't care if they're good I don't want to deal with them
I was supposed to go out with some guy this weekend but all he said was “i’m playing fortnite” and we didn’t go 😭
don't blame him for it
this feels like when fall guys made a comeback for like 2 months in 2022
Dawg if I land and see a kid build (in half a second) a 5 star hotel with free WiFi and room service and a luxury pool when they get damaged a slight bit, imma just leave.
There's a Zero Build mode now if you don't like fighting people who can build.
1:39 Epic Games vs Fortnite, who has the better metaverse? Minecraft will catch up eventually.
My opinion still is that sweats did not actually want the old map back, they wanted the feeling of playing for fun when playing for the first time.
I hate Fortnite.
I HATE it with a passion.
I will not, and won’t EVER play it.

@@KwikBR fortnite's a game idiot
I've been playing almost nonstop with my old squad, we've been having the best time. So far, I can't think of a single time I've gotten angry during Fortnite OG.
the only time i have gotten angry is when someone donkey laughs after killing me
The problem of fortnite was it's marketed in the most things gamers hate when it comes to corpa titles but underneath it comes a a flexible game due to its game engine, hinted by it large set pieces of seasonal events and being able to create other game modes.
Kinda funny to think Fortnite was supposed to be Gmod of Unreal or Minecraft, but as the time goes on... The game itself was all just either BR or creative thing but less versatile just for new players.
@@FALL-LAFF-7477 Epic wants to expand Fortnite creative to become something more akin to Gmod, we'll see how far they'll get.

Epic after bring back og fortnite map:🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑
I just realized I was 15, 5 years ago, I'm 20 now. Never played it then though, But my little brother did a lot, So I've been playing the game with him recently and its been fun. Still not a game I would play myself, but its been fun hanging out with my little brother. he is 13 and was playing the game when it released. He is very talented, I struggled to get a kill on him when he was 8 on any shooting game, now I cant even get one.
I feel like this going to be a none stopping repeating cycle of Minecraft & Frotnite being popular.
I like how thy say og and there’s some new dessert I have never seen in my life, I was hoping for pre season or season 3
Well og fortnite returned with milk
Haven't missed a single season for 6 years, and I sure as heel aint missing a second of this one

Og fortnite map was the one i grew up with friends since season 4 and seeing the map change and transform was amazing. Chp 2 was also great but the other ones was just not my cup of tea. Im glad Epic games thought about this and their veterans players on bringing the classic map.
I'm laughing at people who called it a dead game😂

How is it even cringe 💀

Its not because of the og map but instead because we only have a month to complete the entire battle pass which requires people to grind play the game to level up
....Did you miss the part where literally everyone played the game? A simple event grind can't be that strong.
Oh no…
i was hoping this game wouldn't be revived out of nostalgia
why
@@KwikBR you got no idea how unbelievably tired i got hearing the word "fortnite" in 2018 and now hearing it creep up on me again

Honestly I expected this update to flop after seeing it, as it seemed like just away for epic games to fill their pockets again, a lot like Geometry Dash Lite, Meltdown, World and Subzero, but I guess not. Very impressive revival.

I now know LIMC uses sponsor block seeing that "exclusive access" tag (this means nothing at all)
It's only 5 years old the game can't be nostalgic... Tf?
Child be damned that game is way too modern and still updated to be nostalgic.
Peoples brains must be fried from all the corpratism
I thought it was 6 years?
There's no age requirement for nostalgia just that it has to be happy thing that happened in the past doesn't have to be 40 fucking years bro
And who decided what was the cut off point for nostalgia?
Your brains are actually burned to a crisp for believing this.
Age and years hardly do anything on nostalgia, it’s about how much things changed from one point to the other.
I’ve seen people finding Fall Guys nostalgic 1-2 years after it’s release, cuz many things happened at that time.
Chapter 1 map is nostalgic cuz Epic used to bring updates weekly throughout, that it felt like we’re playing it a long time.
It’s actually an interesting idea with the destruction and building concept it’s like battlefield but a cartoon version
Because it always has been a good game
yeah people trash on it a lot because of the players, mainly sweats who a. are you and have nothing else to do and get good at the game or b. playing the game is literally their job and they can’t help but get good at it, seems epic games has kinda fixed this with adding zero build mode and sure it has like half as much players as build mode but 500,000 is still a lot of players.
It's really fun to see them going back to what started it all when the game was at its biggest

its a free game that knows how to advertise and it constantly has updates one of the few live service games that know what they are doing
Suddenly playing Fortnite
its actually kind of smart berceuse of from what i heard how mid chapter 4 was and the lack of live events aswell as the ceo of epic stepping down they were loosing players so they added nostlotiga to the game they did that in season x (10) before they pulled the black hole stunt. It holds alot of nostalgia for alot fo people too 2018 was 5 years ago most people who played during that time who were kids now are almost adults and have to worry about actual life. its surreal to say the least seeing the old map after that much time kinda like talking to a old friend you haven't seen in 5 years
