In our case, we filled out an attestation sur l’honneur tenant lieu de certificat de célibat et de coutume, or sworn statement indicating our legal capacity to marry, that we downloaded from the United States Embassy in France website.

Hi there, thanks! There isn’t quite enough information here to give you a comprehensive answer. Assuming both of you are foreigners who don’t live in France with parents who don’t live in France, one problem immediately comes to mind with this plan. At least one of you will need paperwork to prove that you’ve been a resident of the same commune in France for at least one month. Different town halls may accept different paperwork for proof of address, but you’ll likely be asked for things like a lease, rent receipt, electricity bill, tax assessment, employer certificate…and you’d probably have trouble doing that if you’re just a tourist staying in a hotel. Hope this helps!

Hi! During our ceremony, the officiant read us our duties to each other as spouses from the French civil code and asked us both if we agreed to fulfill these obligations. We each said a loud and clear “oui,” and the officiant pronounced us married. Yes, we could have married the following day. Our town hall performed marriages Monday-Saturday and there were plenty of appointments available. Thank you! 😊
And one more Question how long Marie give appointment for submitting file of marriage mean within a week or can get appointment or take long time and other thing is if we choose a date for marriage suppose i would have submit my file 20 may 2024 so i give my marriage ceremony date 25 june so is that possible fo get married same date or still take long time or Town Hall decid to give ceremony date please explain thank you
Hi again! This will depend on your town hall and whether they have a lot of time slots available or not. On May 11th, we asked to be married on July 9th, but there were availabilities before that as well. You’ll have to check with your town hall about this!
Hello sir my Question is that a about witnesses so i am living in France have residence permit and my girlfriend will come by visit visa so i have tow witness they are from France but my girlfriend have two witnesses from Germany one of her sister and second one her brother in law so is that allows them for segniture?
Hello, thanks for watching! Different town halls will have different rules. We were required to have at least two, but no more than four, francophone witnesses. You will have to check with your town hall to see if those witnesses will be accepted or not.
