I have this tent. The stakes are awful, the guylines are way too thin, my exped 5r mat just barely fits, it gets dirty fast, it's not the easiest to set up etc. etc., but i love it! Just think of it as a tarptent but better. It has so many of the tentfeatures I'm lookong for, but without the weight! I would recommend using a groundsheet and drybags tho, much easier to keep everything dry and organised. Big plus: you can seperature the inner fly when it's all wet! And it's pretty easy to put back in before next times setting up (you can't really set up the tent without the inner fly). It's also really easy to spot mosquito's!! And keep in mind that a darker tent get dirty just as fast, you just won't see it. Only design flaw is probably that part of the flat side near the left little tentpole that you mentioned around min. 9.20. That's where I have some problems sometimes too, the outside tent is really close to the inner fly there and on uneven ground in rain it's sometimes difficult to get it right, i found. So I don't think it was necessarily how you set it up. But yeah, its the best of both the tentworld and the ultralight world so, good tent overall.
Sounds like a good assessment! Yeah if the flat side had more of a separation from the inner that would be perfect. I've ordered a carbon fibre tent pole to see if pulling up on the top tag will help.
I have the undyed version of their sleeping mat. Not as conspicuous as the tent obviously but I think it’s a great idea. Setting an example in the industry maybe?
Maybe, I just wonder how much of an impact it actually has when you think of how much dye is in clothes. That’s were the real contribution would be and no one is going to wear undyed clothes into the hills. But maybe every little helps.
Great review Stephen, slick, entertaining and very down to earth, thanks. I can see why its sold so well, reminds me a bit of my old BD Distance tent. Bet it looks great in snow :-)
Nice tent and nice review. I have a Nikon AW1 camera that is white and I have found it gets a certain level of "dirtiness" and really doesn't get any worse. My thought with a white tent is that it would be too bright inside. I do like the weight and packability though. I doubt it is available in the US.
I actually liked how bright it was inside. I forgot to talk about it though. Made it easy to keep track of all my stuff. I sleep with an eye mask when camping so it didn’t wake me
I know I’m a good mom… we all get horrible queasy with sympathetic pain when someone gets hurt. Ugh…that hurt me as well as you. Sorry you got injured!!!😢😢
Stealthy? No. Easily found in a snowstorm? No. But not a bad little tent all things considered, from my observations. Thanks for the review - AND some awesome scenery shots.
Use to acrylic spray decathlon tents to make them stealth... After 8 years of use, still waterproof. Of course some marks of altered paint with all packing and use. Ok white ecology will go to trash with all chemical spray paint used 😅😅😅😅
Race is on Sunday. I think I’ll be ok. That part of the leg is just thin skin over bone, which is why it hurt so much. But no deep tissue there to hurt
I have the 2 man with the coloured floor , I regularly camp on Dartmoor and used it in winds of 30 mph, also some of the south west coast path , its spacious with 2 vestibules , does suffer condensation but on a clear night you can roll back the doors and sleep with them open. Great for space and with coloured lights insde its very ambient for photography. Id use this on good to moderate weather days with a groundsheet . Its a great tent for the price
@StephenJReid it's better for space , give it a go when there back in stock. There's also an option to attach extra pole or twig etc for extra foot space , only a mere 300g extra it's worth it , not flappy in your face it it gets windy 🙃
@@StephenJReid That vertical wall is a waste of space and bad for wind pressure. It could be the same as on the other side and the tent would need the same amount of space to pitch as guy lines need to extend on an angle anyway. Also, 10 cm in width would not make much difference for pitching but a massive difference for the human inside that coffin :) BTW: I am thrilled Decathlon offers this tent and I might be going for the 2P tent for my solo trips. Thx for the review. Please do an update if you experience that tent in the rain.
Hmmm one of the poles attaches to the inner, but still might be possible to take the inner out and just stick the pole into the ground a bit. I’d be unlikely to ever use it like that though. Especially this year. Came back with loads of insect bites as it was
Well that’s the confusing part, Decathlon don’t mention anywhere that it can be used without the inner 🤷♂️ although you’d assume it can with that name
Great video Stephen. The Alpkit polestar seems comparable option for similar price and weight (also trekking pole tent). Oh, and it only comes in green 🤷♂️😂
I think this is a great tent, but it just feels like you're camping in a shopping bag 😂 (I know every tent is essentially a big plastic bag but this one looks the part)
2 Days later and my leg is mostly fine, although the cut did get a little infected after the camp with some mild pus. Enjoy your lunch!
Some applications of hydrogen peroxide should clear that up.
I hear if you rub some nuggets over it you get a lot more pus 😎
Was at it with hot water and disinfectant. All cleaned up now and properly dressed
🤢
THAT IS THE GREATEST TENT EXIT EVER.
😂 I didn’t realise how ridiculous it looked until I was editing

Absolutely brilliant and such a professional presentation my friend! Brilliant work 👏
Thank you very much!

Knowing my luck if I used it in snow I’d probably loose it 😂

Thanks for the sympathy! Don’t think they will need to amputate
Wish Decathlon would make this available in Australia. Currently they only have the 2P.
Hi Stephen,
It was nice meeting you and your family today in Glenarm forest.
Ps watch out for the bears. :-)
Hey! I’m a week late, but thanks was good to meet you too. So far been avoiding the bears 🙂

Thanks Ken, decent little tent depending on your needs!
I kind of like the white to be honest.
there is a certain appeal to it

Hoping you can complete the half marathon without leg issues. Marathon tomorrow (Saturday)?

I think your channel is awesome mate, hope you get more subs because you deserve it.
Thank you!

I’d like to try the 2 man to compare, although it’s just over the 1kg

Rumour is if you say the tents name three times it will bring you bad lu............oh to late! 😁Great stuff as always!
😂 think I say it different every time I say it!
I am interested in that tent for solo trips but definitely 2P version. I prefer to keep all my staff inside.
I like the small footprint of a smaller tent, easier to find a pitch but yeah not much space inside. Ok for summer but in winter I’d want more space

this tent is good... for deserts. Other than that, I don't see a trip where I would like to bring white, see-through tent with me.
Snow?
People only care about saving the world when it inconveniences someone else lol.
Good vid, thanks for the info
Looks a decent tent for the money , but yeah white not ideal lol . Hope the legs on the mend in time for your 1/2 marathon 👍
Thanks! Leg has fully healed
Can this tent be used with only the flysheet?
How was the set up time compared to the hammock? 😂
Don’t get me started! 3mins Vs nearly an hour 😂
what about in tarp mode? without the inner.

Yeah it worked really well. Just need to pitch it on flat ground next time!

Your damaged shin, splattering blood and medical trauma is our entertainment. More please😊
Erm no promises!
We enjoy your antics enduring the hardships of the outdoors but you need'nt damage yourself for our sakes. 🤕
Haha hurt myself enough accidentally without doing it on purpose 😂
Great tent for the price, just a pity it looks like an iceberg.
FORCLAZ! DEAD AHEAD!!

funny how people always bash my white tent for not being stealthy....meanwhile i wear full camo gear, and they wear high vis insu clothes..
Is that funny?
Looks a good well constructed piece of gear
Except it’s white
Why white, not very stealhy, unless its snowing
Not everyone needs stealth. Most of my camps are in places were stealth doesn’t matter. That said, I would have preferred a green version
God that must of hurt
Yes yes it did. Why do shins have to be so vunerable 😭
Would have thought you would have woken up surrounded by sheep with the colour of that tent 🐑🐑
There was actually a small flock of sheep in the morning about 20m below the rock stack
@@StephenJReid they maybe thought it was the king of sheep 😂
