@@corruptedplayer Last year, actually! :) Its a Netflix exclusive continuation with the subtitle “Above & Beyond”. It has two seasons so far and is kinda different from the original series in a few ways. I feel like it’s most enjoyable after watching everything before it since it’s actually Very continuity heavy and carries on with a lot of previously established arcs? (PS I know you didn’t ask for all this and I apologize for the nonsensical ramble lmfao. Just thought anyone else who looks at this comment chain would be curious.)
Also it’s technically a franchise due to its multiple series, movies, the books that predate the cartoon, and just how profitable it is in merchandise lmfao 😭
I thought I was the only one who thought that... I always imagined that Wolfie and Dotty were married or at least were a couple (Off screen obviously) is that they look so adorable together~💙🧡
Special Agent Oso is an autistic king, and there's proof. He knows how to do complex maneuvers which he hyperfocuses on, making him block everything else out. Not only that, but he also forgets simple tasks, even ones that may seem like he knew before. When you're hyperfocusing on a task, everything else is easy to forget. When I watched this show probably too old, but waiting for school in my room, I'd watch this show and relate to Oso on a spiritual level for being an "adult?" who needs adult help with simple tasks. Btw this edible ain't shit.
when I was 6 I was so attracted to the blue wolf I can't explain it. this character's existence made watching the suite life all the more enjoyable idk. im glad society's gotten to the point where we can unpack everything that was this show.
2:58 My first thought was "because he's a bear" which is terrifying because it implys that all bears can drive 13:28 Dead Meat Kill Count reference, nice Also you should totally cover The Electric Company (the more recent one, because it's weirder). That show was my jam, jelly, and butter tbh. The lore was insane, as the rest of the show. my mother caught me watching this and i, unprompted, asked her, "would you love me still even if i was special agent oso" 10/10 would ask to be friends again
Oso seems like Mr Noodle from Sesame Street, who was designed to give the children confidence for being able to teach an adult something. And maybe it also helps show kids that there are always things adults don't know or can't do
You know what I always wondered? Why do literally all the kids he meets know who he is? Like, seriously, I've NEVER seen an episode where one kid asks Oso "Who are you?" when he shows up. They all know his name and some even ask if he's on a special assignment, and even the parents know him! And hell, in the first episode, the little girl Oso was helping ALSO knew Whirly! HOW DO THEY KNOW!? Is this not the first time he's helped these kids? Were they told about him?! THERE ARE NO ANSWERS GIVEN
I dont think i ever got to watch the finale but if i did I probably also bawled my eyes out, and i don't remember any of it if i did watch it i just know i would have because i did and still do that with every show finale i have watched

Fr. I actually had no idea until she mentioned this in the video lmao. Now I found out he dated Demi Lovato when Demi was 17 and that her song "29" is literally about him. Also, apparently he played Mirabel's dad from Encanto and Fez from That 70s Show? I'm learning so much today. Edit: Oh my God. Also, the Handy Manny voice actor was in some animated movie called "Charming" with Demi Lovato years after he groomed her into a relationship. 🙃

There’s an entire wiki page of former and current trademarked “generic names”. Some of which include Band-Aid, Frisbee, Jacuzzi, Photoshop, Q-tips, and the word of the day, Hula-Hoop.
I have no idea what you would call the "getting way too intense about a show obviously not meant to be thought about" genre, but it is my absolute cherished favorite. I'm not even half way in, and I've already had to choke back a spit take. You presented this so well. 1000/10 stars. 0 notes
Now that you reminded me of this show, I just realized Oso's name literally means bear in Spanish. I wonder what his name is in the Spanish dub. Unless they just called him Bear.
I vaguely remember in the intro he's called a "unique stuffed bear" so maybe in Spanish they call him Osito which in Spanish has a double meaning of stuffed bear/plushie or young bear. I don't honestly know..
Since the wolf agent is named “wolfie” I think they’d probably just keep Oso as Oso. In the handy manny crossover manny even pointed out what his name meant to him which was kinda cute haha
@@AthenaPOfficial but then there's Dottie, who's name doesn't match up to her species unlike the others. Which could possibly call into question the naming scheme. Screw it I'm Googling this...
Okay I checked it out. Oso is yes still called Oso. Paw Piolet is called Garra Guía. Wolfie is called Lobito (little wolf - aww!) and Dotty is still Dotty.
I LOVE DINOSAUR TARIN it took the idea of ok what do little boys like the most and trains let's put it together and learn facts yes yes that is the PBS kid way the end each episode a guy will basically say them go outside and touch grass
There’s some MAJOR problems 1. Oso never gives time for kids to think of the answer (if they even WERE trying) 2. Paw Pilot either oversimplifies or overcomplicates (shown in A View to the Truth and For Sleepy Eyes Only) the tasks to 🎶 THREE SPECIAL STEPS🎶 3. Imagine if the countdowns were realistic. I mean, there’s ABSOLUTELY NO FLUKING way you can make wind for kite day in 10. FREAKING. SECONDS.
19:35 Mother of christ, that Smiling Friends clip was just an orbital strike on my sides, especially since seeing that it was directed at yourself right at the last possible second killed me all over again.
This show gives me Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends vibes. A show that’s supposed to be for kids, but contains weirdly dark lore. Highly recommend a rewatch. It contains everything from eating sentient creatures, forced deportation, and straight-up slavery.
I used to love this show when I was a kid. Whenever I had trouble with something, my dad would pretend to be Oso and teach me the "3 special steps". This was how I learned how to use a yo-yo and how to pour juice into a glass without making a mess. Also, I don't remember for sure, but I think the Oso/Manny crossover was my first crossover as well. I remember getting super hyped for it as they played promos on Disney Jr. even though I didn't watch Handy Manny. Anyways, I was heartbroken when the show ended and came up with various spin-off ideas while processing my grief for the show, which featured Dottie, Wolfie, and my OC, Osita, who was Oso's little sister. I even had a somewhat Oso-related dream. You see, I had a lot of school trauma when I was in elementary school, so one night, I dreamt that my teacher had made a new rule that involved a 3-strike system. This was an actual thing at my school; if we got 3 "warnings" by the end of the week, we wouldn't get to go to the treasure box, and I hardly ever got to go. However, in the dream, it was revealed that there were guns in our desks and, if we got 3 warnings, we would be shot. I got 1 warning on Monday morning for calling out, so I began to fear for my life, but then, a short while later, my mom came to my rescue, and _she was in Whirly Bird._ Anyways, it's cool to find someone else who ships Dottie with Wolfie! I didn't even know what shipping was back when I watched the show, but I always saw them as Oso's adoptive parents. Also, it didn't occur to me until watching this video that the watch was a communication device; I thought that Dos _was_ the watch, like a less advanced Paw Pilot; so the reveal didn't surprise me.
I remember Disney Channel aired this promo with Phill Lewis back in the day being all “you know me from Suite Life On Deck” (I mean I know him from the OG Suite Life moreso but sure yes that too) “and now I’ll be on Playhouse Disney’s new show Special Agent Oso” I was bewildered, I wasn’t even the target audience of this show but every time I watched it I was like “MOSEBY IS WOLFIE”
I now deadass wanna see you cover Mickey Mouse Clubhouse/Mickey Mouse Funhouse lore because I'm a huge Disney Character Cartoon fan and my Autistic ass has binged the two entire series. (I'm the kind that talks to myself and if a show talks back to me, I respond, no matter how "Babyish" it is. IT'S LIKE HIGHFIVES! YOU CAN'T LEAVE SOMEONE HANGING WHEN THEY ASK YOU A QUESTION!) Anyway, that or the Paul Ruddish Mickey Mouse series!
@@StillSomeoneI think roadster racers is actually a different continuity from clubhouse and the recent series, funhouse is in the same continuity with RR.
I remember watching this show when I was in preschool. The only episodes I remember were the Handyman crossover ( I had no idea about what the voice actor has done until seeing this video ) and the last episode where he says goodbye to Paw Pilot ( specifically that part ). I had NO memory of Dotti or Wolfie and the other side characters. Along with your Word Girl video ( a nostalgic favorite of mine ) I’m glad I got recommended this
15:20 HOLY SHIT ATHENA YOU LIKE GHOST This show is wild. I remember watching it sporadically when I was pretty young, but all I remember is how bizarre it is and how much I stanned Dotty.
I used to love this show as a kid. I'm pretty sure I was supposed to like Oso, but as a someone who had no patience whatsoever for any of my classmates stupidity, Wolfie was my absolute favorite and I was so sad he never got a solo episode or anything. I think I ended up creating my own but I don't remember what happened to it lmao
16:07 My personal theory is either 1. It was meant to be some sample animation for the "stalking training exersice" 2. The Wolfy and Dotty staring at Oso could just be their robot selfs or.... 3. The storyboard artists and animators were probably stoned when animating this episode (I think this one is the least likely of the 3 theories but I just thought this one was worth sharing).
You should do octonauts at some point. I may have some bias, it was my childhood show, but I would love to see you analyze it. I remember specifically one of the characters, kwazi, has an entire story about his dad being a pirate, and the vegemails... exist. Another idea could be yo gabba gabba, mostly because id love to hear what you have to say about creatures coming out of a suitcase and coming alive. I don't remember anything else about it but

Fun fact: I saw the finale (Which I'm thinking is Thundersmall and some of the episode listings are just somewhat different from production order) the other day or so, and I can't be the only one who felt robbed when at the end of the episode, Oso doesn't even need Paw Pilot after he's a real special agent.
I was listening to this video while doing college work and when I got to 14:12, I first thought you said “Oso freezes a bunny pen15 style” and had to pause to wonder if I was having an aneurism.
I remember loving this show Edit: Paw Pilot also used to terrify me. Im pretty sureit was just CGI that was aggressively obvious that scared me when I was little because motherboard (i think that was her name) in Cyberchase scared me too.
How long until she watches Thomas the Tank Engine and realizes all the things that come with it. Like how according to the movie Thomas and the Magic Railroad that the entire show supposedly takes place in a multiverse. Or how according to the books, Thomas is a deserter of war. Or the multiple railway operations that they blatantly ignore on a daily basis. Or how there's a constant race war against alternative fuel sources. Or how a large number of steam engines around the world have been killed off in some sort of human caused genocide. Or how the controller of the railway, Sir Tophham Hatt, regularly steals property from other railways. Or how we see multiple engines die on screen. Or how the engines worth is determined by how "useful" they are.
i was in the hospital a lot as a kid, and one show that was on constantly was Special Agent Oso. i fell in love with the show, probably bc i also had a childhood love of Winnie The Pooh, and Oso kinda reminded me of Pooh. the show holds a special place in my heart, something comforting during a rough time.
Ahhhh, Oso Special has always been one of those shows that I don't think about until I'm randomly washing the dishes and sorting through my mental "nostalgia files." This used to be the *_shit_* for me and my brother back in the day! I still remember watching the series finale and how I cried so hard when Oso had to give up Paw Pilot... Paw Pilot was done _dirty_ throughout the entire show...
I loved Special Agent Oso as a kid, and I love these videos of you doing deep dives for kid’s shows! I don’t know if you take requests, but if you do, I’d recommend you looking into the 2009 reboot of The Electric Company! It was one of my favorites growing up and there’s a lot of bonkers shit in it. There’s a group of aliens, a computer game that (unfortunately) can no longer be played, and Lin Manuel Miranda was in it too. I’d also like to highlight the episode “One Bad Apple”, which is possibly the most insane episode in terms of story and visuals and I lose it laughing every time I look at it. Either way, keep up the great work!
Oh my god does anyone remember the muffin episode? The one where all the villains turned nice because of the opposite muffins? That shit haunted me as a kid. Still, that show is so good
two theories after watching this: 1: oso is a creation of unuquie, he was programed on the basics of how to operate as an agent, so he was born knowing how to drive and living in the agency. my guess he's the first of his kind or something went wrong with his programing and that's why he messes it. that and or they are purposefully setting him up to fail his training so that he's dependant on the medals for validation and loyal to the agency. 2 and this one is a bit wild : oso takes place in the pixar universe after the humans have left but before the entire car take over. the pixar theory is very complicated but the idea is that toys and humans gain sentience and sapiance and basically take on the memories of their past owner. it makes a lot of sense if the characters (except the vehicles and paw pilot) are toys that have come to life after the humans left, the "humans" are dolls that are acting out the memories of their humans, while the agents are acting as a mix of their humans and what their humans imagined them as: aka they're reliving playtime. the vehicles are just cars from the pixar theory. the one thing this doesn't explain is the baby pictures of the train
I remember watching the show when I was a kid, and there was a episode where Oso had to help a girl clean up toys in her living room literal seconds before her mom got home or something. That legit gave me the same kind of anxiety that a QTE in a video game would give you as a kid. 😆
I remember this show because it was the ONLY Disney Junior show advertised on the regular Disney Channel at the time (because Agent Wolfie was played by Moseby). And as Disney Channel do, you got his promo twice every single commercial break. I have always wanted to bring this show up whenever someone talks about the Suite Life Universe just because of how out of left field the connection is. You have finally given me an outlet for this weird knowledge that had almost convinced me it was a weird fever dream
You just unlocked a DEEP forgotten memory in my brain… I totally forgot about this show’s existence even though I was such a big fan when I was around 5-6 years old. Legit the only thing I remembered was the holiday special and even then I couldn’t figure out what cartoon it was. Thank you.
Literally never watched this but the way you explained it????? It really sounds like I watched it with you and I was here for the while journey. Also that finale, OSO MY GUY IM SORRY TO TELL YOU THIS BUT YOU JUST CANT DO IT! Paw pilot was carrying you around like it was NOTHING, yes you did it once but can you at least do it twice??? I know I'm a bit harsh on you, but you do have some criminal records, which doesn't mean that you're the bad guy (as explained in the video), though you still need to be careful because we know now. What else can i say, great video, like fantastic, and now I ship Donfie or whatever the ship is called!!
Special Agent Oso was literally the best show when I was small, still is honestly Edit: I almost forgot the Handy Manny crossover! Even though that was literally my favorite episode
Looking on Disney + all those “Season 3” episodes are just Season 2 episode names just made weird for some reason. Edit- Speaking from personal experience I can tell you FOR A FACT that Disney + has a problem putting episodes in order. When Disney + first came out Phineas and Ferb was very messed up.
18:21 That strangely makes a lot more sense. This is why we're learning basic things. He's training ai to be human, or to be used as a tool to teach growing children. I like to think so, though i'm sure it can be disproved somehow. Edit: well now realizing that paw pilot exists. Idk. Maybe they're trying to recreate..... her..... technology??? Idk.

Now that you reminded me of this show, I just realized Oso's name literally means bear in Spanish. I wonder what his name is in the Spanish dub. Unless they just called him Bear.

I got 1 warning on Monday morning for calling out, so I began to fear for my life, but then, a short while later, my mom came to my rescue, and _she was in Whirly Bird._
Anyways, it's cool to find someone else who ships Dottie with Wolfie!

So she's a gravestone?
(Yes, I looked up epitaph and the first thing I came across sounded NOTHING like Paw Pilot lol)
two theories after watching this:
1: oso is a creation of unuquie, he was programed on the basics of how to operate as an agent, so he was born knowing how to drive and living in the agency. my guess he's the first of his kind or something went wrong with his programing and that's why he messes it. that and or they are purposefully setting him up to fail his training so that he's dependant on the medals for validation and loyal to the agency.
2 and this one is a bit wild : oso takes place in the pixar universe after the humans have left but before the entire car take over. the pixar theory is very complicated but the idea is that toys and humans gain sentience and sapiance and basically take on the memories of their past owner. it makes a lot of sense if the characters (except the vehicles and paw pilot) are toys that have come to life after the humans left, the "humans" are dolls that are acting out the memories of their humans, while the agents are acting as a mix of their humans and what their humans imagined them as: aka they're reliving playtime. the vehicles are just cars from the pixar theory. the one thing this doesn't explain is the baby pictures of the train
this show is also another example of "separate the art from the artist" due to Phil Lewis voicing Wolfie
