So interesting note here, the last time Lingo had been on TV in the US was in the 1980s. The Dutch version was still going strong in 2002 (and it still airs) so for the 20 episodes here while they built a US set, they filmed it on the Dutch one.
This is an August 2002 episode from season one of Lingo (the GSN version with Chuck Woolery). On this episode, Neal & David play against Victoria & Julie. 🇺🇸 🇺🇸
I’m sure that the bonus round in this season of this Lingo series brought on little success. I wouldn’t imagine that teams would’ve easily guessed more than 4 words right and therefore had so few chances with making a Lingo on a Bonus Lingo board. There was even at least one team who didn’t get any words right and therefore didn’t even earn a Bonus Lingo board! The intention of free/bonus letters for the bonus round starting in the next season must’ve been to help teams guess more words right for more chances at a Lingo on a Bonus Lingo board!
This aired some point during the winter 2001 there is Christmas commercials and they keep referencing the new year in the commercials too

And ported over the graphics from the Dutch version, with modifications so only one team’s score was visible during each word played.

Thanks so much for uploading this, Jsach3!
I am from Washington DC. But I don't live there anymore. I live in Silver Spring Maryland .
I wonder if you have any more episodes from the first season, given how scarce they are online.
