  • Greetings RUclips! Join me as I ride around the northwest section of the incredible NC500 route. Roads to die for, breathtaking scenery and awe-inspiring coastline. There was even some blue sky between the bouts of rain. The midges are out in force and I appear to be on the menu... yikes!

    Of course, this is on my long long ‘to do’ list. But after watching this, it’s a couple of slots nearer the top. Great job 👍🏼

    I have always wanted to do the nc500 but never had the confidence. I think I'm ready now though.
    It's beautiful. Thanks for showing us.

    The Drumbeg road is utterly stunning. You where so lucky not to get campervan after campervan as I did in 2021. Midge tastic

    • @TwoWheeledDreamer
      @TwoWheeledDreamer  9 месяцев назад

      Midge tastic indeed! Yes, there were surprisingly few campervans throughout the entire route which was an utter bonus. Every mile was incredible…. Thanks for watching 😊

      Hi Colin, it always makes me happy when I hear my videos fire people up for their own upcoming trips. Great stuff and hopefully when you go in early June there won’t be all those midges!! Thanks for watching! 😊

    We did it this way round in May ‘23 this year, I think that’s the best month to do this tour as there are no mosquitoes and no kids 😂
    This brought some memories back

      It’s a fantastic route but those midges are something else…. I did it a while back in early April and it was an entirely different experience! Thanks for watching 😊

    The sea inlets are generally classed as Loch’s as well as fresh water Loch’s, they are know as “sea lochs”

    The Lochinver road is one of the best, for midges they say Avon Skin so Soft is best don’t know if that’s right but believe it’s the British army choice.

    Lovely video, Steve. I'm planning on doing the NC on motorcycle as well, but on a rented one. What time of year would recommend to do it? What about campsites, are they far from each other? I've been to Lochness on March and the Highlands were freezing cold. Plane tickets on November are way cheaper, but I believe it would be close to impossible to do it on autumm. Love from Argentina!

    • @TwoWheeledDreamer
      @TwoWheeledDreamer  6 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you my friend, I really appreciate your kind comment! The summer months will be best or perhaps late April onwards… I know August is a bad month for the midges!! I think even with cheaper flights in November, it would be tough doing it then - as well as the cold it would get dark quickly each day. There seemed to be plenty of campsites scattered around, they shouldn’t be a problem. Very best of luck with your trip! 😁
