Agreed. This aria is even in the Limited Range of Jenkin's voice! Also, ENGLISH? She sings pop songs in Italian, so why can't she sing this legitimate aria in Italian? I do have some respect for her, but still, she's pathetic! It's awful that legitimate opera singers remain unheard of, but Jenkins and Bocelli get all the glory!

I think that Hayley Westenra used the same translation in one of her CD's. Both Westenra's and Jenkins' attempts at this aria are vastly inferior to other sopranos, or to even Miss Durbin at such a young age.

Listening to this not surprised she avoided an operatic career. Why she should have chosen an aria for a soprano surprises me Plenty of mezzo-soprano arias. She is lucky to be very very pretty, with a good figure, but no opera house would consider employing her services. She is a pop classical singer, like Bocelli. Sad there are so many superior singers out there struggling to make a living, vocally superior to this third rate singer. You Tube Angela Gheorghui, KIri te kanawa singing the same aria in the correct key, these two ladies are the real deal.
Yes, she certainly is a classical Pop / Cross-over singer and never pretends to be anything else. She is pleasant on the eye and provides easy listening, semi-classical music for a less critical type of audience. Nothing wrong with that and as you say, there are plenty of the more 'serious' artists to listen to. So please don't be so condescending and just enjoy it for what it is or move on.

I can’t for the life of God understand what language she’s singing. Googling the lyrics shows up something that seems to be rap?! I can’t even know which part is English and if she’s mixing Italian or not! I can’t understand a single word, can’t even read her lips, what is going on???
She is singing in playback. A cheap pop version of a great aria. A very poor voice extension and a childish interpretation. If you listen Callas, Caballe', Tebaldi, Scotto, Netrebko, Fleming etc. etc. you understand my critics.

Look for deanna durbins version if you want class. Catherine Jenkins version is really good but deanna durbins is great.
