House Plant head honchos, Tokyo Sexwale is the DJ duo comprised of brothers Dane and Ryan, originally hailing from South Africa by way of California’s West Coast. With their fun-loving, infectious energy, these two seamlessly fit into any room, stage, party, or festival.
The duo-half producer, half crate digger-are purveyors of dance music, spanning house to acid, Italo to funk, and everything in between. With an eclectic bag of tracks to pull from, Tokyo Sexwale has garnered a reputation for effortlessly dancing between genres, showcasing their unique ability to create diverse sets that capture their evolving sound and energy.
Since their start in 2019, Tokyo Sexwale has grown from house party favorites to sought-after performers at iconic Sydney venues, including Lost Sundays at The Ivy, The Abercrombie, Carousel, and The Island. With a series of international gigs under their belt in London, Fiji, the U.S., and most recently Nicaragua, their selections have captivated audiences far and wide. Their musical journey has led to supporting slots alongside legends like Roger Sanchez, Anna Lunoe, Ariwolf, Laura King, and Luke Alessi.
With a background in film composition and production-including scores for Australian Fashion Week, short films, and commercials-the duo is now channeling their production skills to establish Tokyo Sexwale’s vibrant sound. With a series of original productions and edits set to release just upon the horizon, they aim to solidify their sound.
As they gear up for their second appearance at Lost Paradise and celebrate House Plant’s second birthday, Tokyo Sexwale are ready to kick off summer in style.
