Tom Petty? This was one of my favorite tunes growing up in the 60’s ( around 1968 I believe) A group by the name of Music Explosion did this tune and so far nobody but nobody sounds as good as they did playing this . Thank you... Paul St Petersburg, Florida
On this day in 1968 {February 17th} the Music Explosion performed "Little Bit O'Soul" on the late Dick Clark's 'American Bandstand' Nine months earlier on May 13th, 1967 it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #2 {for 2 weeks} and spent 16 weeks on the Top 100 Written by John Carter and Ken Lewis; who also penned another song that peaked at #2; Herman's Hermits' "Can't You Hear My Heart Beat" in 1965 {and it also stayed at #2 for 2 weeks} R.I.P. Mr. Clark {1929 - 2012}
And our old high school band still renders it at occasional baby boomer reunions and dances. A crowd favorite, along with Stand by Me, Kind of a Drag, Love Potion # 9, I Wonder What She's Doing Tonight and Bruce Channel's Hey Baby!! Da-da-da-dat, POW!!!
This song is in my top 3 songs of all time, always has been!. Im also a massive springsteen fan so this clip....... PERFECTION!. thanks for the memories. x
@MOSKII58 they actually played it a step higher in key of "A" they should have done it the music explosions way..key of "G" he might have hit those higher notes..
@TubeNumber1USA Yeah, he can't hit the high notes. In turn, automatically makes Petty's version better...way better. But I will give Bruce credit, this was complete improv.
People should keep in mind when comparing this to other bands that they literally didn’t rehearse this ahead of the show. It was a spontaneous fan request. This is on the fly...incredible
@KleWdSide Anoying voice in your opinion, Stringsteen has an anoying raspy voice... I saw Petty live last year and am going to see him again in a month... I have seen both and Petty is Definately better live than Sprindsteen... And Tom Pettys songs are just as good If not better than Springsteens... Plus Petty is more rock n roll... Springsteens musichall and pop...

Thank you, Bruce is such a little liberal, could care less about him or his music🧨🔥🔥
@@bobbywall172 I’m sure he’s hurt. 😂
Bruce sounds a bit flat to be honest!
The origanal was recorded by the little darlings in 1965 on Philip's records look for it on you tube

Bruce looks like he having a great time-and isn't that what rock and roll is all about?

I love seeing Bruce give Steve a run down of a great song .awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great song from my childhood
Jamie Lyons is a tough act to follow!
An Ohio boy.
Bruce e Steve vi amo!!! 😍😍Amo tutta la band!! 😍😍😘🎸🎸♥️♥️💯💙💟💟💟💟💙
I hung out with Clarence (RIP) 1981 in Montauk. Went to his condo in Sea Bright, NJ.
Music Explosion was the best because they recorded it first.
Absolutely!!
Music Explosion made it a hit in the US but it was released two years earlier in the UK.
This song is in my top 3 songs of all time, always has been!. Im also a massive springsteen fan so this clip....... PERFECTION!. thanks for the memories. x
Tom Petty also has a version from the mid 80s, up on RUclips.
Yes. Petty's is much better and can hit more of the high notes.
THe best bar band ever!
This is great. Thank you so much for all of your videos. I have totally enjoyed watching them over and over. Great stuff.
Great cover!
@MOSKII58 they actually played it a step higher in key of "A" they should have done it the music explosions way..key of "G" he might have hit those higher notes..
Late Drunk and Ready to Rock N Roll
In ci sono parole per descrivere la LEGENDARY E STREET BAND
💖 Amazing 💖💖💖
I wonder what "Little bit of soul ' would sound like with Burton Cummings at the helm ?
1964 the little darlings on fontane the first recording of it they were from Coventry England
Gona do this song for an outdoor church service, gona change a couple words..Having fun worshiping GOD with Zeal
Petty rocks this song!
how bout that bruce played our song ..LOL
I'd really like to see him do a version of "Lies" by New Jersey's own Knickerbockers.
If the Boss says the chorus is a little out of tune then that's how it's supposed to be. Is this song available on any of his official releases?
@TubeNumber1USA Yeah, he can't hit the high notes. In turn, automatically makes Petty's version better...way better. But I will give Bruce credit, this was complete improv.
he didn't hit the notes for "make like you wanna kneel and pray".
great if he just would have lowered the key a step... i love this tune
This is not nearly as good as Tom Petty's version...
bs
@KleWdSide TOM PETTY Kicks Springstiens ass
haha!!! Petty muffed the lyrics at the start. watch?v=EULWqD2t6fM
song starts at 0:55
He is brave. Gotta give him that. Almost a train wreck. Ballsy though.
Too bad Clarence (RIP) is not there.
hey ho let's Ramones!!!
glad he like the oldies, but needs the origional drummer
Love Springsteen but on this one, Music Explosion has him beat by a mile. Great song from a great music era.
I think Bruce wasn’t sure what key the song was in
People should keep in mind when comparing this to other bands that they literally didn’t rehearse this ahead of the show. It was a spontaneous fan request. This is on the fly...incredible
It was my request you are correct
@KleWdSide Fine, you couldnt win that argument anyways....
Temazo, tocado por Bruce, Tom Petty, los Ramones o quien sea..
They should have chosen a lower key.
This would piss off Jamie, but he's dead.
He sure hacked the hell out of a good song.
@KleWdSide Actually He could... And by the wat, TP has a better singing voice and writes better music
I rather Ramones version :P
@KleWdSide Anoying voice in your opinion, Stringsteen has an anoying raspy voice... I saw Petty live last year and am going to see him again in a month... He's flat on too many notes. If he can't hit em', he should find songs that his vocal range can hit.
Sorry Boss .... but this one's weak. To be fair no one can do this like the original artists. ✌️💚
No......n...o...
No
Bruce can't hit the notes.
The worst cover ever!......Check out Petty's cover.....the best!
Out of tune !
This is why I hate covers...they are always a hack from the original
