I’m on tretinoin cream and the aveeno oat wash is great for me! I have dry acne prone skin and it’s nice and gentle for my skin. I don’t wear makeup much (once in a blue moon) so I personally feel it washes my face fine.

The oat cleanser has definitely replaced all my Cerave cleansers. I initially got the foaming and SA for my oily, and acne prone skin. Turns out those cleansers were stripping my skin so much that my skin would produce more oil. Only been using the oat cleanser for a week, and a half and I'm not longer looking like a greased up pan. My redness and acne has calmed down by alot, so I'm sticking with the cleanser.

Thanks for doing an update! I’m so sorry these didn’t work for you. I was a huge CeraVe person, but have actually discovered in the last half of this year, that, for my face anyway, I’m a Vanicream and Aveeno (this line) girl now. I have used CeraVe since way before it was popular (easily 6+ years), but I’ve had such better luck w the Vanicream cleanser & new moisturizer + this Aveeno line. And I think CeraVe is an amazing brand, but will not be using it for my face anymore. I never thought those words would come out of my mouth. I have literally only used Cetaphil or CeraVe cleansers for 20 years. But I took a leap this summer & the oat gel moisturizer has literally changed my skin. And the Vanicream cleanser is my jam now. I am just happy you have something that works for you that you like. And you’re obviously doing something right. Your skin looks amazing!

Thanks so much!! I love vanicream!! I still need to try their new facial moisturizer! I’m going to try the oat gel moisturizer again soon to see how my skin reacts because I love how it feels so much lol! I’m going to only be adding the oat gel into my routine and nothing else new to see if that changes anything! I’m hoping it works!!

@@SarahhhBeth that sounds like a good plan. I adore that cleanser, but only on days if I’m not wearing water-resistant sunscreen or sweating heavily. (I bust out the Vanicream those days.) So I can absolutely see how cleanser + moisturizer might cause the milia/bumps you noticed, especially with you being oilier. I’m dry and dehydrated, so if I need more on some days, I can see how your skin type def might, and that might lead to pore-clogging. I think just the moisturizer by itself would be a winner: that’s how I started: just did the moisturizer and slowly worked in the cleanser after that. I have no data to back this up, just a hunch, but I bet it’s the cleanser giving you trouble. That moisturizer is just too good to be the culprit 😂

I’ve tried the Aveeno oat cleanser and I love it! But the serum isn’t the best especially since it’s kinda expensive. Where I live it’s around 11 or 12 dollars and the moisturizer is too. I think overall the cleanser and the moisturizer are the best. For a serum that’s cheaper and more affordable I would recommend getting (The Inkey List) HA serum. Overall I rate these three products all together a solid 9.

So I too have loved Cerave’s cleansers. But left me with slight dry feeling as well. I tried the Aveeno calm cleanser and was not a fan. And as others mentioned it was not enough cleanse even though it is very gentle. However Dr. Dray mentioned the Aveeno moisturizing Bar……..boom! It has been my diamond in the rough! My slightly oily skin feels clean but NOT tight or dry patches. No redness after washing either. I feel it sets my skin up the best before using the oat gel on my face. I make sure i leave my skin damp before I apply. If my skin is dry i will just lightly mist my face with water before applying. This has been the only thing that has calmed a rosacea and acne flare from having to wear face masks at work now.

I have acne prone and sensitive skin as well. I recently came across dr sam bunting's channel and she advised for a period of cutting back on actives for a few weeks at least and going back to basic steps with minimal ingredient list. She recommended the avene tolerance line which has less than 10 ingredients in each product and that has made a big difference to the resilience of my skin thereafter. She also recommended a non foaming cleanser while recovering your skin. I do that too but use a separate oil cleanser to remove my sunscreen in the evenings.
I would oil cleanse, and follow up with avene tolerance cleansing lotion and the emulsion. After a few weeks, i started adding back other actives and now my skin doesnt freak out at every single thing. Hope this helps u as it did for me

    Sarahh,
I struggled with acne for 15 yrs & was wrongfully treated with isotretinoin. I had very sensitive, slightly oily yet dry, very acne prone skin. Turns out over washing, stopping birth control & a high carb diet was causing my acne. You only need to cleanse once a day, any more than that is impairing your skin barrier. Even if you feel oily this is probably your dehydrated skin trying to over compensate. Cleansing the good bacteria off your skin weakens the skins immune system causing inflammation which causes acne. A high carb diet causes increased insulin which causes increased androgens which causes oily pore clogging skin. Also I went off & on combination birth control multiple times which was causing a hormonal imbalance which also lead to my acne. Not sure if yours is caused by any of these same things but just wanted to inform you since no one ever told me. It can take 3-6 months of consistent gentle cleansing, hormone balance & diet change to see improvement :)

I think I'm gonna stick to what I know for now as I'm seeing good results
But this was a great Review Sarah!!!!👏👏👏
For some reason the Cerave foaming cleanser is too stripping / drying on my skin 😔
(honestly makes no sense to me as I use much stronger products guess everyones skin IS really different / tolerates different chemicals😅)
My current routine going into the new year
I use the SA (salacylic acid) cleanser from Cerave
(useing this only if I feel I need a bit of chemical exfoliation after other products make my skin peel)
the 4% Benzoyl peroxide cleanser from Cerave I find it helps if you leave the Benzoyl face wash on the affected acne area for a minute or two, letting it soak in,
its activated by heat so some gentle circular motions for face to help it soak in are good!
bonus you give yourself a mini massage
( I recently replaced the benzoyl peroxide form Cerave with the %10 benzoyl peroxide from Panoxyl as I had/have a bad break out and needed some extra strength- if the %10 is too strong for you try using it as a wash off spot treatment works great, apply it on your acne let it dry then rinse off with a damp cloth or just water)
switching between the SA cleanser and the Benzoyl cleanser every other day or so (whichever I feel my skin needs)
I was prescribed Tretinoin 0.025% from my Dermatologist it's been helping with Scaring and my cell turnover rate shedding old skin faster to help stop the clogging of my pores,
I use it at my discretion (I've been using it for awhile now) but I'd say especially for people new to it follow your Derms advice I use it around every 2 - 3 days at night before moisturizer
I use the Cerave moisturizing cream in the tub (beware I had a weird reaction to the cream where it made my skin really itchy stinging and very irritated I think it must have been an over exfoliating incident but it went on for months only recently have I started using it again with no problems)
And fun pro tip I just found,
instead of applying a lip balm I've been using the walmart equate brand Neosporin with pain reliever and it works so good for hurt chapped lips its thicker and doesnt really melt? Like using aquaphor or the healing ointment from Cerave does it's pretty sticky at first but keep rubbing it in and it dries down nicely!

I have used up one jar of Aveeno gel moisturizer. It felt amazing at first. But after about 3 weeks, I also got irritation especially around my neck area. So I stop using it and switch to Cerave moisturizer and my skin becomes less irritated. Hopefully, this will be my cost effective moisturizer!

I have used vanicream in the past and it’s great!! I’m going to incorporate the oat gel moisturizer back into my routine by itself to see if I get different results! If that works I will then add the cleanser in too! I will update again if it works out better this time! All of the products are great and I would give them a try! My skin just got clogged up, probably because I’m oily and these are very moisturizing products!

I'm going to try it, but the only thing with aveeno is they use soy in a lot of there products and soy makes me break out as well. That's why I don't use it as much but this line I don't think has soy in it? Well vanicream has a new moisturizer I did buy that one a couple days ago and it's great. Very hydrating And has 4 ceramides in it. Thx for the review enjoy your honest opinion.

Hi I think this did the same to me but you know when we question ourselves and think no no it can’t be this. I have rosacea and it I feel it calmed redness but I do think this definitely broke me out started getting bumps side of my nose and forehead and I also loved the feeling of all 3 products on first use but after that the cleanser felt like it was drying me out. When rinsing off my face felt strange. And the serum and cream gel just felt not that great. Almost sticky. But yes it’s so hard to find things. Especially when I’ve seen and paid to see dermatologists but yet I’m still no further with my situation?? I’m losing my mind now. First appointment he said he’d recommended oral isotretinoin then the other day I messaged home to say I’d had a think about it and I think I might give it a go he said he wouldn’t advise it. But gave me no reason why. He’s ignored my last 3 messages. The stress and emotional distress of this is making things worse too. Somtimes I want to give up completely. I’m petrified of spfs because I worry they’ll break me out no one will help me with that. I’ve had a few suggestions but I want a professional to say this is the one you need. Spf is very important for rosacea too as the sunlight can make it worse and prevent it from being successfully managed. Xx
