      he tried to do this once shooting 700 Nitro out of a 10 gauge it was pretty underwhelming to get it to finally blow up he had to pack the barrel full of mud and use standard 10 gauge rounds. Think IV8888 did a video with this once also with some no name .410 shotgun they shot .454 casull out of it and it worked just fine. In short shotguns don't blow up easily.
      That being said here's his 10 gauge video of 700 nitro express in it. He does eventually do a bore obstruction in it as well.

      I've been praying for Kentucky, we had a flooded basement ourselves a while ago and it killed our washer and hot water heater. But at least we're all safe, and it happened during the summer so it wasn't bad going without hot water for a while. I'm shocked how expensive those things are! We have some insurance, but flood insurance costs way extra, and this is the only time this area has flooded since before I was born.

      At least I woke up to myself, and stopped TRYING to make EVERYTHING Forever Worse - for reasons amounting to how Selfishly Convenient it was, and remains, to "simply" burn ever more Fossil Carbon and Hydrocarbon - because it has been always "Cheap enough to burn"..., for all of our lives.
      Until now.
      I live atop a Hill, too, only a Kilometre West of the Continental Watershed, and when it floods locally then the Spring under my Hut starts to run, and my place smells mouldy.

    My two thoughts for barrel obstruction: first, a lever action. I think that could be very interesting to see how it rapidly disassembles itself. The second is some kind of .22. I’d be curious to see what would happen with an overcharged .22. It’s tiny, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it has quite a pop. Might be hard to make that one happen though.

    Scott, look for the top strap somewhat forward of the guns position. Being familiar with cases of dynamic disassembly of revolvers, the top strap generally will break at the rear sight first as it makes it's way upward. It is then detached from the frame at the barrel shank at the last of the event. I believe this is a intentional design so material is deflected away from the shooter. The recoil shields on a revolver, both double and single action, act as guards for any pieces that seperate from the cylinder. Although it is a small area, it does translate into a greater area of protection for the shooters face. Most dynamic events with revolvers leave the shooters face and head areas with little or no damage due to their designs.

    • @TAKIZAWAYAMASHITA
      @TAKIZAWAYAMASHITA 2 года назад +6

      That is what we call failsafe designs. Not all firearms have this as seen with scotts incident with a 50.cal. Most other rifles and handguns have those built into the design from defectors, intentional weakpoints etc so if failure occurs its less likely to injure or severely injure the user.

    Glad to see this series again Scott very informative. The only thing I wonder is that with those round being so hot if they blow the gun apart totally different than what would happen if you encountered a round that was just enough to break the gun, if the debrie pattern would be different or not? Just something I have thought of, would be interesting to see if a 100,000 psi round would blow that round if it would inflict more injury towards you or not? Always love your videos!

    • @ebreshea1337
      @ebreshea1337 2 года назад +1

      That's an interesting idea but that's difficult to test. It's hard to say if a round would be "just enough" to break the gun. And repeated testing on the same gun could introduce weaknesses that cause it to break differently when you do finally find the right PSI to break it. Or it might change what the "breaking point" PSI is altogether.

    • @mfree80286
      @mfree80286 2 года назад

      @@ebreshea1337 On these guns (revolvers) you're pretty much always just going to end up with injured hands and little peppers of shrapnel. Remember, revolvers have been in this general format for over 160 years (talking with a solid frame, top strap) and for the longest time were prone to chainfire and bad metallurgy. It's a system that's been proven in trial by fire. So long as you've got a recoil shield on the frame, your face should be safe for the most part.
      You'd have to be so supremely unlucky as to have the top strap fail at the front and then peel backwards before failing at the rear to get anything significant to you.

    Fun ideas just for the heck of it... Blow up smaller guns too (big boom is so 2021 ;) ), like 22lr and up to 9mm. Things that people will actually have and might manage get a squib load obstructing the barrel and then pull the trigger again. Maybe also most common carry guns.. will you still have a hand after a "squib" and a boom in your glock 19 etc?

    We’re all thinking it. I haven’t read all of these comments but I’m not the only one who’s thinking it. Episode 5 - “when elephant guns go boom” I load my own ammunition and I see the size of that brass Scott puts in those rifles. The .50 cals were epic, the elephant guns would be other worldly!

    You are going to give me a heart attack. Those booms when you are loading make me jump every time. I love your videos. I think you are a little crazy. I hope you have the best medical insurance on the planet.

    Visiting Scott's range is like going to a Gwar concert - you might as well wear a white shirt and have fun with the aftermath

    So, I was watching the video, seeing you blend all the poupon and gravy together. Adding layers of different color..
    So I thought, maybe you should shoot cans of stuff with different colors, then keep the tables, labeling rounds/guns/products on a note on the side, used for the.. painting you've created 😅
    This could be a new genre for abstract painting lol. Abstract Gun Painting or sth 😝

    Next on Kentucky Ballistics...painting with Scott. Let's get a canvas and some various food and light up the canvas. Auction it up for charity.
