It's amazing how the locations are so easily recognisable despite the changes. Like the building next to the Colonial Mutual Life Building at 0:24, then with balconies and festooned in advertising.

I love Bendigo. Interesting seeing all the changes over the decades. Let's hope future changes are for the better, not the detriment.

Brings a tear to my eyes some of these scenes. Because it’s only a heartbeat between those times and our own and only last week was standing in the exact same locations as many of those photos. Wondering if the ghosts of the past were walking round me.

Thanks for a very interesting video, good memories. I grew up in Bendigo, and my father owned a 1937 Dodge, a 1954 Vauxhall Velox (Bendigo Motors), and then a 1960 Peugeot 403 (J Woodman), a 1960s Ford Falcon (Provincial Motors), and after I left a Toyota Corona. Merry Christmas from Europe!

@@johnfh Wow, bendigo boy makes good in sweden, well done.. I often remind the Lost Bendigo facebook founders that there is much interest in their site from ex bendigonians... hard place to get out of your system. I left Bendigo in 1977.

We're from Eaglehawk going back 170 years to the Albion Brewery in Sailors Gully. Left in 1972. HW Farmer (McCrae St) was my grandfather on my mother's side. She had an Austin 8 and dad a MkIV Jag. It was a challenge getting the Austin up Big Hill; that took 2nd gear. Later VW's, Cortinas and a Zephyr. I see a couple of Cortinas in these shots. Any reason? We had a fuel contract with Fitzpatricks in Eaglehawk.

    Hi Bendigo cinescope.
I'm an Aussie music fan. I'd love to see photos of the soundshell. Hush, Cold Chisel, Angels etc played there.

Hi PP, the plan is to produce or 'knock up' something in a clip on Bendigo bands and venues next year. If you have any photos of those major bands playing in bendigo please let me know. The Lost Axedale & district facebook page have been actively posting band photos... take a look. Cheers Jack
