The fact these bags can be faked and sold at a fraction of the price just shows how much the luxury brands are ripping people off. Yes quality and materials might not be the same but some dupes are pretty good. I’ve wasted so much money on designer bags and, as a 50 year old, could have bought another house or many *esluxs* with what I’ve spent. My advice is to only buy if you can afford it plus other important things and don’t necessarily turn your nose up at a dupe!

Yes the deals seem good with their first price, but the value of what they give you. I’ve been to many markets and I’ve seen them go from £50-£10, that’s a bug drop. They make immense amount of profit
They mark their prices up insanely high so you have to haggle if you don't want to get ripped off.
I absolutely hate hagglers. I'd be the best customer, they would give me a price and if it's reasonable I'd buy it.
I swear my Chinese parents would argue until they r satisfied with the price (kinda) and since we in Canada not much people speak Cantonese or mandarin...but somehow they manage to get the price lower

The reason why I prefer leather, it's soft and it's not plastic. it's hard to buy leather goods in Asian countries so the best bet goes to Designer bags which uses leather. From experience, any PU leather feels rough, it doesn't feel nice to hug it at all

you already stepped foot in that market as a foreigner who’s “apparently more rich than the locals” (that’s kinda their mindset ngl they always charge us the expensive shit thanks) but anyway by that point you must’ve thrown away your pride so you might as well go as low as you want 😂 it’s better to lowball the fucck out of it and then leave if they don’t take it, then you get their desperate offer which is still more than you offered but you lowballed so hard that the price they gave you doesn’t matter.

I’d be surprised if she didn’t. I’ve been to Chinese markets like that in a Beijing and Xi’an and you’re supposed to barter. What you do is lowball them, they say no, you start to leave, then they quickly sell it to you.

Not purchasing leather good because of the environment and animals is great and all but buying fake stuff is not the way to go, most of it contributes to unethical labor ,is actually not good for the environment and you know its just illegal. I agree with the fact that it's not exactly environmentally friendly BUT she stated first and foremost that she's vegetarian, so she's a lot concerned about the animal aspect of leather. In this case, she is right in her opinion on not purchasing real leather. (And I'm very sure you won't find vegan leather bags in hong kong faux designer remakes, so this decision would only be plausible if that was an option or what she even set out to do.)

Just because the leather may not be real there might be other traces of animal cruelty and most definately forced/low paid/child labour. The trick is go very low then work back up slowly as they come down. Figure out what you're really willing to pay and be firm just as they're firm. Walking away shows how firm you are - sticking around too long will not get you the price you want.

At least leather is biodegradable plastic lasts for hundreds of years and takes gallons of precious water to produce and chemicals that are carcinogenic. You do the math.
Dell Plummer some places are recycling plastics so in a weird way if you could know it was recycled at least that way it's not going in landfill , but no way are they going to tell you either way . I can see why ppl would buy the cheaper version not everyone can spend the huge prices , also why pay out thousands when you can get a great fake , as long as it's not overpriced and not going into a collection . It's all becoming a catch 22 though .

I agree. To much plastic waste! I bought a Louis Vuitton purse and wallet in 2004 and it’s the only bag and wallet I own and use. It is in fantastic condition. The quality is worth it. I’ll probably never need to buy a purse again. Buy these cheap ones and they fall apart fast and you have to replace couple times a year. Adds up $$ and also creates so much waste!
@@shanarablue339 I can guarantee you that plastic bags like these ones being sold for 10-15 bucks were DEFINITELY not recycled, recycling plastics is an expensive process.

You talk about saving the world but the real leather is much better for the environment. Wish, Ali Express, and cheap things like that are made in sweatshops where the works aren't paid and the amount of the cheap fabric and things is worse for the environment than a single good quality leather bag. You can also always go to thrift places and reuse. The amount of waste you make from these types of videos annoys me. I just want to educate, not start a fight.
I agree with you. The amount of plastic that is made from these fake products is horrific. The world is trying to get rid of plastic and yet there are people all around the world making fake designer items made from plastic so what's the point of even ditching plastic straws? And the cheap labour that goes into these items as well.. actually shocking..
@@Bandhan01 I'm aware. But the fake stuff is certainly worse for the environment as it won't biodegrade as fast as leather is. I don't agree with a lot of places and how they farm leather, im sure there are few farms that treat cows correctly. I'm saying in the context of this video, real leather that is collected correctly is better for the environment. That's why brands like Gucci, LV, and YSL are so high dollar. With the whole child labor thing, it is the same with fake leather and most cheaply made fabrics.

@@Bandhan01 You think these plastic made bags don't involve child labour? They're all made in Chinese sweatshops, who do you think staff those - adult artisans? Labour laws in china are easily some of the most lax in the world.
As for actual designer brands, many of the high end designers actually control the entire process of production and own their own leather farms, child labour is NEVER involved in the production of high end designer goods because LV, Chanel, Hermes etc. have a lot to lose if governments start cracking down on them for child labourers - lawsuits and arrests are both expensive and embarrassing. Whereas, like I said, there is next to zero oversight in Chinese sweatshops.

One thing I've learned is that people with money aren't shy to bargain or ask for discounts/waive that bank fee. So I try to be more like that.
