    At your age, your knowledge of classic muscle cars is impressive. I wish more young people understood times were so different back then. Thanks for taking the time and effort to make this video and share with us.

    Love this video! My first car was a 66 Impala. Had the 283, 3 on the tree, and glass packs. Drove all throughout high school and college. Lost it in a flood in '98. Sure brings back some memories seeing those curves and hearing that exhaust note!

    This makes we want to go back to my '66 Impala. It was white when I bought it but after two years I painted it red. It had the 283 cu. in. engine but it moved. There are plenty of parts/options to freshen one up today and it would be a hoot to do it.🙂

    I bought my 66 with a 350 in it since the original 396 was taken out long ago. These cars are really cool and your 327 it truly worthy of an overhaul and replace that single master cylinder with a dual one, some brakes are better than none. Loved the video!

    I bought a 66 Impala SS in 1973 for $695. Took the 283 out, put in a mild 327. Basically gave it away in 1976. Now I have a 66 Caprice coupe project. It'll have a 6.0LS,4L60e!

      Man, build an engine yourself if you want to impress me. It's easy. LS swaps are as boring as bug farts and every time I see an LS swap car at a show I basically say "nice car" and leave. Seriously do yourself a favor and build an engine for it. Be somebody man, build a Cadillac 472 with fuel injection.

    At 16 in 1972 I had a 66 Impala SS 283 powerglide, burgundy with a black bucket seat interior. I wish I had kept it.

      I was also 16 in 1972. Born 06/26/1956. My first car was a 66 Chevelle Malibu 327 power glide. Hard to explain, but she had her own personality. Most fun car I have ever owned.

    It’s worth noting the 66 B body cars were the only cars available with the L88 package outside the corvette. That particular variation of the 427 big block was not driver friendly because of the design. It was at home on the track
    Also I never manually shift my power glide I’m pretty sure my engine would fly apart granted I float valves at 70 it’s so worn out

    I'll never understand why people remove the side moldings from a 66. They don't just run down the side of the body, they also wrap around the tail lights, so the rear end looks weird without them..

    • @carolinacoins
      @carolinacoins 4 дня назад

      I agree 100%. They also protect the paint from door dings.

    Ermine white was the original white shade. Arctic white was not offered. Ermine has a lot of yellow in it and looks great in low light.

    PRNDL - I amost toasted the transmission on my 1957 Chevrolet Bel Aire by somehow dropping straight into reverse while looking for low. It made an incredible noise.

      Maybe had P N D L R .... Had my '57 Olds 98 StarFire 371" V8 4 speed Hydramatic floored taking off and decided I wanted to hold the gears and pulled it down for low or 1st whatever was indicated and went past it into Reverse... and it suddenly spun the tires backwards and I feared I killed it... but to my amazement it worked fine afterwards with no ill effects... P R D S Lo? 1? R ...... S = Super (3rd gear for passing) (Lo sometimes was 1st and 2nd gear, held 2nd from upshifting further) ....... earlier it was P N D-D L R... (OK to Drive/cruise in 4th or 3rd) ....... even earlier was N D-D L R .... (put in R with engine off was park function)

    I absolutely promise you, you can bump it into reverse at highway speeds. Really bad idea.

    Depending on the model and year, the 327 also came in 300 and 350 hp versions, even fuel injected version rated at 375 hp, but again, not sure which years and which models these were options.

    • @carolinacoins
      @carolinacoins 4 дня назад

      You're right. Actually the 1965 Impala had the same 327 as the 1966 but was rated @ 300 hp and the 1966 was rated @ 275 hp. Also the same 327 in a Chevelle in 1966 was rated @ 300 hp ,only difference was the carburetor. Impala had quadrajet, Chevelle had Carter afb.

    My grandfather gave me a 1966 Buick Skylark too bad the whole bottom was rusted out he was always polishing that car. I drove it 500 miles with that bed frame when I got down there Bedford Hills New York they could not even put it up on the lift there were tons of metal falling out and they could not inspect it but that 302 motor would fly it did not have anything except a tilt steering wheel automatic speed it was nice the interior was mint and I loved that car so much but I had to sell it.

      My brother bought a 1966 Impala SS with a 427 and a 4 speed manual transmission. It was worked over and was a real strong runner. He purchased his by special order from City Chevrolet in San Diego.

    • @BuzzLOLOL
      @BuzzLOLOL 3 года назад +2

      Chevy never put a 383" in a vehicle... people make a 383" by boring a 327 or 350 out and putting crankshaft from a SBC 400" into it... past few years Chevy has offered a 383" crate engine aimed at trucks but can be used in cars... it's not overbored but uses a 350 block and a crank with even more stroke than the SBC 400 crank... can also turn a 350 into a 400 by using an after market crank with still even more stroke... can also make a SBC 400 into almost 500" by using more tricks...
      Here's a hot SBC 400 crate engine: www.dailymotion.com/video/x3rfhrk
