Desde hace 63 años estudio español. Nunca había escuchado una explicación tan clara de este tema. Ahora tengo que pensar si estoy usando "desde" y "hace" correctamente.

I got 100 percent in the quiz! What I did was write down the four phrases you are teaching and when to use them. Then pause the video and see what applied. For my fellow students the key structures are: (1) "desde" which can be translated since. (2) "desde que" Spanish speakers like to throw in the word "que" into sentences for reasons that are hard to understand, but the rule is when Desde is followed by a verb throw in a "que' to sound like a native. (3) "hace" which means ago but has a weird word order so they are saying 'ago three years" instead of the way we normally say it. (4) "desde hace" would mean since/ago So in English we would say they were married 30 years ago, but that does not tell us if they got divorced. Maybe better they have been married since 30 years ago. Well at least that was what I got out of the video. Mi internet esta trabajando desde 6:00 en la manana! No te precupas. Esta correcto?

Unfortunately I have already used up 85% of my cell phone data for the month so can't watch any more video for a while.

Hi when you showed the example with study Spanish for 2 years your tense for estudiar was pretérito but in the later example about haven’t gone to cinema for 2 years you use the present tense I.e. “voy”? Estudió was in pretérito?
Question: I play duolingo so I have seen these structures before. I see them on lessons about the different past tences. What tenses go with what structures. In other words happened in the past and is completed means preterite. But happened in the past and is still happening is present perfect I think, like I have been working here for five years and I still work here, in other words in the past and ongoing is one form. It might help to know which tence triggers which of the four different forms you taught us.
You’re right, so: - “desde” could be used with present (or present perfect), for instance: vivo aquí desde el 2017 / he vivido aquí desde el 2017. You could also used it with preterite but in this case just with some verbal periphrasis: empecé a vivir aquí desde el 2017 - “desde que” also can be used with present and preterite (also present perfect): vivo aquí desde que me mudé de Venezuela / empecé a vivir aquí desde que me mudé de Venezuela (verbal periphrasis) / he vivido aquí desde el 2017 / he vivido aquí desde que me mudé de Venezuela - “hace” is only used with preterite: Fui a Puerto Rico hace 3 años - “desde hace”: could be used with present, present perfect: estudio español desde hace 2 años / he estado estudiando español desde hace 2 años. 👍🏻👍🏻
