  • Laser-based weapons, which years ago seemed like something out of a science fiction novel, are now a real option on the agenda of various militaries.
Laser beam weapons, which can also be guided, are merging with today's technology.
The US Navy's recent tests of a new generation of directed energy weapons have fueled excitement about this technology.
Imagine a warship that can incinerate a fast-approaching unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) with just a single beam.
It sounds almost like a dream, but the latest demonstration of a laser weapon called 'HELIOS' has made just that possible.
With a trial that was the culmination of £100 million of investment to date, the UK was one of the leading countries competing to develop and deploy what are known in military parlance as directed energy weapons.
While the technology is not yet mature, the United States began deploying early laser weapons on many of its naval destroyers and testing land and air-based versions as the UK invested.
Over time, the US has come to the forefront in the field of laser weapons.
In fact, in recent times, there have been reports that the US has actually tested laser weapons.
It was claimed that the laser weapon tested by the US instantly burned a drone, turning it into a fireball.

Ukraine hasn't got any lasers , why ? Because artillery will wipe it out ! Drones that could be shot down have to be just over a mile , drone crews are only 6-7 miles away max . Thats laser system is only 8 miles away from russians , russians would strike it with artillery or a missile attack .

The effect of laser weapons at a distance is greatly exaggerated, and a light aluminum or silver coating can easily reflect the beam. Bad weather and humidity in the air also reduce the effect dramatically. What about using IR lasers as used in industry? I don't think the Russians are as shocked as the headline indicates, clickbait.

Some U.S. citizens such as myself became aware of this laser but on a more extreme level about 6 yrs ago. It was being carried on a airplane that could stand still and fly at low cloud level altitude.
The test were done in California forest areas, where massive trees were set on fire. But, they burned from the inside with the bark still in tact. The beam could be narrowed down to walk a power line without touching the ground below. As several people uploaded videos showing such event occuring.
Several homes in California and in Canada were tested on to display the width of the beam. Such as a 2 story home in a cul-de-sac where half of the house burned completely away. No frame work standing. No glass anywhere. No plumbing. While the other half stood with no damage, no scorching on the paint. Car in the driveway untouched. Tree standing 5ft from house untouched.
But the News tried to explain it away as being the result of a forest fire. Like people are really that stupid to believe that crap.
