Nice one. Those conversion sets are pretty cool. They do cost a penny, not to mention a secondhand frontend but once you have that.. its almost like plug and play. Cool man!
Starting another one, Yes!!! That looked pretty easy to do, I dont have a press either, probably would be hammering away in the same manner. Great start to a cool build, thanks Zach!
My very first bike to ride after taking the course was a Honda 450 Can’t remember the model but ya!!! It was like my confidence builder til I could ride my 1200 Sportster that was also parked in the garage!
You’re definitely mechanical inclined buddy ! I am a mechanical engineer and would think twice before tackling this project ! Great vídeo, presentation and editing. Keep up the good work ! Cheers, Eddie
@@MotoMango Yeah seen those, but as I have steering axle that is ID 35mm thick all theway, they don't have bearing that has OD that fits to CB upper bearing housing. 😄 I try to explain this in video as soon as I have this sorted out. 🙂
Those kits make it a lot simpler for sure, but they're not cheap, right? I have done two swaps now, just with the adaptive bearings from All Balls Racing, but sometimes that is a little more complicated. Nice work, mate.
I just looked it up in my spreadsheet. I paid $405 after taxes and shipping for all the stuff from Cognito Moto. I might try cheaper options in the future idk
@@MotoMango I swapped a 2003 R6 front end onto my 77 KZ650 with just the bearing kit from All Balls Racing. Initially they sent the wrong top bearing but we got there in the end. Video on that coming out Nov.27 ruclips.net/p/PLb-9jEv5hdG_1vQv11xzd3-NvDAg9e-40
Probably should have pressed on those bearings as well. Its possible at the hammering could have messed up one of the rollers. But in that area there isn't too much movement so it should be alright.
Nice! I also have a Honda cm(400t) with r6 front end but now i know for sure. I figured it out by matching the throttle cable ( party number) and the grips. The real funny thing is i been playing with my pictures trying to change the paint color and modify the body style and i also pan on ain't done kind of number plate to the side and a rear fender like a dirt bike body kit. I found your videos just searching on head light fairings since i also like that idea....... are you spying on me and stealing my ideas?
Lots of places. In this video I bought the used front end off ebay, the conversion parts needed from cognito moto (as mentioned in the video), amazon, and 4into1.com
Those are the main sites I get my parts from. You can also try cafe racer web shop, cmsnl.com for oem parts, texavina or tuffside for custom made seats. Just do some googling mate xD
I didn't know there was a source for front end swap kits, thanks for that!
Yeah! Cognito Moto makes it super simple 👌

Yeah, it is easy, but not cheap that's for sure haha such a big difference maker in a build though!
You always make it so simple!!!
This build is going to be exciting to watch!!!
Thank you so much 🥰

Yaaaaas! I've been sitting on this cm450 for like a year lol. Yeah, always needing more tools am I right?
Someone made a good point that the hammering could have damaged the rollers so hammer at your own risk hehe

That's awesome! I've been thinking about doing a Sportster build for awhile... 😁
@@MotoMango I remember you saying that!!!

Appreciate you bro! Thanks for the kind words 👊🍻
you definitely make the job seem easy, love the fresh front end
👍
Thanks mate!
Excellent....a lot of hard work plus the recording and edit, outstanding!
Thanks mate! I'm trying to continue to improve my builds and edits :) glad someone is noticing 😎👊🍻
@@MotoMango 👍👍
Holy smokes ! Lots of wires inside the headlight 😮
Haha the 80s are notorious for over engineering. SO MANY WIRES 😭😭
I love that Cognito moto setup. I just wish mine would be that easy... 😀
Isn't your front end installed? xD
@@MotoMango Well kinda, without bearings... 😂
All Balls Racing makes it super easy :) They got all the bearings.

@Plan-B Motos fair enough, good luck! xD
Right on Zack very good.
Thanks Robert! 😎👊
so simple. i like this..
Thanks! 👊

Yeah, super simple and super expensive! I could have used the old top triple clamp from the R6 which would have saved me like $200

Appreciate the insight! I knew it was probably a bad idea, but thankfully seemed to have worked out. 👊🍻

@@MotoMango I need to finish watching your vids. Wife pulled me away from binge watching.

I think your front tyre may be a little worn.
🤣🤣🤣
Those old handlebars are really ugly
Yeah, idk what Honda was thinking. They put them on so many different models too.
I think I'm gonna use the old R6 clip ons that came with the forks.
I don't think clip on gives you enough leverage to handle a bike at sport speeds, they only look good and that is dangerous IMHO
Check out grips on the MV Augusta superveloce, that's the ultimate cafe racer. They aren't clips.
