I knew I was meant to come to this channel. You have enlightened me to gifts my hands can’t give me right now. I can feel my mental energy flowing man You helped make the switch in me to put me on the map completely blessings and curses I know but I can be the composer I knew I would be at 4, and for that I couldn’t perceive of a means to show my gratitude🙏🏾 You changed a life today sir ✊🏾
EZ keys is the best simple solution for non-keyboard players such as myself. Synfire and Orb Pro are in theory THE BEST compositional tools for keyboard based MIDI music but they are very hard to learn. Currently, Auto Theory 4 is most interesting product I am trying out...
Great stuff as usual, exactly what I needed to see about how EzKeys works and couldn't find anywhere else, after a LOT of searching-Thank you for knowing just where the rubber meets the road, and how to explain it all SO well!
Mannn ! I think it comes down to ppl having to reimagine what they use these for. My thing is making music that resemble music from my home world. That’s how I communicate with the others. Most times I’ve been successful. U show me how u use them and I fly off from there. Thanks yet again MG!!🕸🦂🔥🔥🔥🔥
BTW MG, I think an in depth EasyKeys vid is in order, something an hour long or so. I'd like to know how you got the Scott Stoch stuff in there ect. Does the Midi hve to be quanitized? How long of a Midi loop is good? Of all the plugs I've purchased I have to say Easykeys was the BEST investment...
Thanks for the great video man, my trial on Studio one 4 ran out a week or so ago, I never knew that you could do that detect key signiture and then see the scale that its in. Very helpful. I'm going to upgrade from Studio one 3, to 4. Oh man, Scaler damn those pesky NDAs lol :) I don't know whats coming but it looks like my £9.95 investment is going to be well worth it from your reaction. Anyway as always man, thanks for the video and keep up the great work
Well explained, as always. And you are right. Some of these plug ins take a bit of work to set up. Logic has some serious catching up to do. I can't wait for your video on this thing you can't talk about.
With the wide range of tools that have been released over the past 9-12 months, you are very proficient at changing tires NASCAR style at 150 miles per hour lol 😂😂😂😂 One could easily lose a paw and brain cells because one either knows what they would use artificial intelligence for as a composer or the end user is focused on the performance side and/or programming side of the DAW of things. You are telling everyone what the fork in the road is and anyone really listening and watching has to decide what depth of the composer versus performer/programmer they are comfortable with. The question quickly becomes not only whether one wants a red pill but what complementary colors one is going to wear afterwards rofl 😂😂😂😂 You are standing in the gap and nothing to come will be capable of compromising your words today! 🏆🏆🏆🏆
I hope and I feel that captain plugins will add more expressive ways to play the chords as they go along... they seem to have added a lot of stuff so far
MG, I've got zero issues using Captain in Studio One on the PC... Just a heads up for the peeps.. Secret scaler knowledge... Hmm, drag in midi... I heard that... The easy path IMO, Captain to Easy Keys and or the Ujam plugs. Scaler if things are getting dicey with a sample or random Midi I'm working with scale wise. I use Melodyne rarely. I like to grab an interesting progression or two out of Captain and GO! The Captain Bass plug is incredibly unimaginative IMO, though handy if I feel like doing a more standard kind of joint...
Man i didn't kno Scaler detected the scales of melodies you played in yourself thats exactly what i was looking for although Reaper does something similar its not as intuitive.
It really sounds like you took the long way around to learn theory. Now that you have a better understanding of music theory is there anything that you would change if you could? It sounds like you have a predefined method that you use to create music as I'm sure that we all do. I only use the theory tools as utilities when I'm in beat block mode. I am also learning theory the traditional way with weekly classes. After having spent time with books and lessons and just general time at the keyboard I find all of these tools to be limiting as they don't teach you how to arrange chords and melodies in a specific style or way that you expect. You still have to depend on your understanding of music to get what you want.
I only learned what I wanted to do, I wouldn’t change it. The tools that have accelerated me In doing so...didn’t come out until last decade. If melodyne and scaler was out in 2002...I’d be doing concertos now
So I'm getting Captain: for a kinda quick preset based idea builder, Scaler: as more of analytical tool and Autotheory: best for live jamming out ideas? You know what I'm thinking? By the time it takes to learn to use all these plugins to their best potential you could spend a year with piano lessons and study some music theory, I might do both, learn the plugins and learn how to play properly.
Aye brother, let me preface by commending you for putting out all these top notch videos, I've learnt a lot and I've incorporated some of your techniques into my productions. You should check out J74 Progressive by Fabrizio Poce. It's an Ableton max for live utility and I feel it'd be a nice addition to the "godmode" collection.
MG, First off, thanks for all the information you are sharing. It has given new life to my production workflow. That being said, I've recently purchased EZ Keys but having a difficult time having it sound natural when applying to my chords. Any suggestions? Peace. PS: I posted on your recent Machine Masters video asking about a source of drum grooves. Also are you familiar with the Chordbot app, great stuff.
S Maurice Lilly yeah ezkeys requires some meditation...depending on the performance styles. But if you pick regular chord blocks...all the styles are programmed to work straight ahead.
I bought captain for windows earlier today, works in S1 so idk if it's a mac thing. I'm missing the cap melody but I hope they update soon. I always wanted to make music and the music theory part hit me like a brick to the face when my beats sound good but I can't keep everything in key. Cap works best for a noob like me so I don't have to worry bout what chords go together and I'm not confident enough to play chords with the others and trust they sound good so it's a nice stepping stone for me. Thanks for all the advise and unbiased analysis of all these tools MG! Much love and positive energies from Grenada
The main reason why i switched to studio one was because of mixing purposes, but man, didn't know i could do all that! Thanks fam! Got any good videos for studio one i can check?
@@MGTheFuture thanks fam I'll check them out. I'm coming from abelton, which was great for creating but didn't cut it for mixing. Mainly the bussing didn't have send panning. Been using that since 2007 with pro tools but can't stand avid anymore lol
Oh, MG I don't suppose you have used any of the Komplete Kontrol S series keyboards? They have built in chord/arp progression tools and I was wondering how it compares to the various plugins?
MG The Future aight I got to walk my lazy butt , ima watch it when I get back to the chair lol. And if I get done with house painting Friday I will be working on something myself 😁
Does this mean scalers new incremental version is coming out ..!because you used to be able to talk about it .... you probably have a new beta version NDA 😀
I bought Bitwig a few months ago, so I'm stuck with that for now. I did get Waveform 8 with the ROLI Seaboard block that I also purchased. I checked it & the new Waveform 9 features & it has a lot of features for chord tracking as well. However, it's a bit buggy in other areas so it can't hold a candle to Studio One. I'll just have to settle for music theory VST tools for now. Like you have said, it probably won't be long before every DAW has improved music theory tools. Perhaps there isn't much else to push on the other features anymore that would have as much impact as theory tools will have.
shitmandood Good to know i was gonna get Waveform 9 cuz i always kinda liked Tracktion. But the more I get into Reaper this DAW is insane its almost too customizable but im finding you can literally get it to do whatever you need.
Oh yeah. And the Waveform price is very reasonable, one of the cheaper DAWs out there. Maybe 9 is better but I feel version 8 was giving me workflow issues, like the way it sets up a project is cumbersome when it should be the easiest thing. One of the included free VST modules in 8 also has some great sounds in it, but getting it to work properly & stay that way or finding support for it was a mystery on their website. The Waveform 9 music theory tools look really good too, but I don't know if I could commit to using it & probably explore the othe DAWs I already have first. If you get a device, like the Seaboard Block from ROLI, you get Waveform 8 for free & can upgrade to 9 for pretty cheap. You can get nearly everything they have on Waveform 9 for $189 or as cheap as $109. Despite everything, I still want to like it. The interface looks pretty good with 9. GAS has got its grip on me..
Great video as always man. Once I got EZ Keys my whole melody game changed.
I knew I was meant to come to this channel. You have enlightened me to gifts my hands can’t give me right now. EZ keys is the best simple solution for non-keyboard players such as myself. Synfire and Orb Pro are in theory THE BEST compositional tools for keyboard based MIDI music but they are very hard to learn. Currently, Auto Theory 4 is most interesting product I am trying out...
Bought Odesi for the iPad some time ago. Also got Captain bundled with Odesi on the PC. Seemed worth the slight price difference.
Great stuff as usual, exactly what I needed to see about how EzKeys works and couldn't find anywhere else, after a LOT of searching-Thank you for knowing just where the rubber meets the road, and how to explain it all SO well!

Love your voice and chill way you talk to the camera. Just a normal articulate dude not hamming it up for the camera.
great video. I watch your vids often and find them inormative. Thanks for your dedication. Using scaler
Very detail. nice break down! Always learning from you MG
I love this channel so much
Thank you
Scaler update coming soon! I hear the hints lol
Great video ! I like prople being objective and that is very objective comments. Keep your good work !
Nice work. Great unbiased info!
Thank you MG
Thanks for the great review!
I have Studio One 4 and I have Captain Chords in Studio One.
Melodyne Scaler and Ezy key all day for my work flow 2

I'm a logic user and I have no problem using all the plugins that MG has introduced.
I subscribed, excellent channel and you speak like Doug Judy "Pontiac Bandit", thanks for the info DougMG

Same, still quite a few modules to add in general too
Would you still get ez keys engine or wait? It’s a huge sale right
I have ez keys. Use it for a very different thing
MG, I've got zero issues using Captain in Studio One on the PC... Just a heads up for the peeps..

I think I heard Captain Chords is basically only a problem in Studio One when using a Mac.
I just got Odisi a week ago. It has an iPad app that can export tracks to midi. You have to pay extra for it.
Dope vid next time can you go in depth with ez keyz and also when the NDA lifts give us an video on the new scaler update
Zander Cage I have some ezkeys vids on how I use it
Man i didn't kno Scaler detected the scales of melodies you played in yourself thats exactly what i was looking for although Reaper does something similar its not as intuitive.

That boy Doss
I agree.
Autotheory 5 works within the DAW, no sequencer necessary. Might be worth another review, I only see one other on RUclips

Good plan
Nice job...
Thanks
any ETA on scaler? beyond excited! 🔥🔥🔥
When does your NDA run out? Thanks for this vid
You are absolutely right about IOS apps .. there are currently no less than 30 chord apps
Yeah, just wish those were like the ones described

Jamie S very dope..Captain is indeed great for beginners. Glad it works out
The main reason why i switched to studio one was because of mixing purposes, but man, didn't know i could do all that! Thanks fam! Got any good videos for studio one i can check?
I did a few in past year...just browse the channel when you have time.

Sounds like a plan 🙏
I know this is an old post but in scaler it's detecting b dim#5 but ez keys detects g7/b what's with that?
#RapidComposer Please review this composition tool!!!! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 Its not the best looking but you will love what it does with midi!
Nuno Zaqueu
I've used Rapid Composer. It's pretty cool.
Audio off from video on my end. Straight 70's Kunfu
Rigondeaux RUclips tracking.? double tap to rewind...it fixes it most vids
sb...Captain + Scaler + Autotheory + EZkeys
Inharmonious? Discordant?
Both and all 😭
Second!
Chord Gadget....
So scaler got a big update on the way LOL
faceicu nah...something else
