What makes it a future classic? It is slightly more potent than the IS 200 and has a high revving 4 cylinder instead of a 6 cylinder. It is less potent than the IS 300 or Altezza Gita with the 2jz-ge. Just because it is good or at least decent doesn't make it a future classic. 🤔
How's it going for you? Debating selling my IS300 to import one of these once they are legal for the same reason. Just with a manual transmission instead of the auto in the IS.

This thing does burn a lot of premium gas though, even on the highway... I actually want to sell it now. I did not expect a Yahama made 2L 4 cylinder would be so fuel inefficient. Mine's even a 5 speed automatic.

When I drive normally, plus occasional fun on straight roads, I get around 10-11L/100km depending on how hard I push the engine. Doesn't seem that much better than your IS300 if not worse if you drive the car like an actual sports car that it is. How do you drive to get 17-20mpg?
@@ddcll9538 that’s not too bad, mostly city driving, I wouldn’t say I push the car super hard but occasional sporty driving. 20mpg is when I drive like a grandma too, 17mpg is pretty much spirited driving. I’m mostly looking at them just to get the chassis with a manual for an affordable price. I see 80k km altezzas with beams/6spd going for like $10,000 usd in Japan. An Is300 with the 5 speed with similar mileage (or more) would be $15,000+ usd I also have the beams/6spd in my 240z (not running/driving yet) so I’m fairly familiar with the motors. I’ve also had an Is300 for most of my driving lifetime so I’m just comfortable with the chassis.
