      The amount of bruises, cuts, and broken bones these people must have gotten over the years is kind of concerning. He took a (blunt) throwing spear straight to the inner thigh, that had to have left a nasty bruise. And those hits to the head with the pole hammer must've been nasty.

    • @countervolition
      @countervolition 2 дня назад

      @AJWhite-qi3jo I feel like after a while you get used to it and start to enjoy the pain and adrenaline (except for obvious injuries), blood memory kicking in. One of the only times you get to experience that "blood rush" in the modern age.

    It’s no drawn out cinematic “so be it” kind of end. It’s a savage, swift, and frightening crunch of a rondel into the neck or armpits. It’s disturbingly non-personal. No monologues, no emotions, no deliberation. I love honest, real combat, because real men have died this way. It’s not romanticized, it’s terrifying.

    • @dequitem

    It is interesting to me how many of these "kills" end up with both fighters on the ground in a rolling brawl. I must imagine that in a large battle, this would be less likely, as it might not be so exciting to give up your standing position with enemies very near you -- to get down on top of your opponent to drive a dagger through him with your full weight. So, did that mean someone knocked down in a larger battle was less likely to be finished off with a "dagger kill shot"? Or finished off at all? Any thoughts on this?

    However, after watching so many of your videos I really have to ask. What's the point in wearing plate if your chances off dying is almost certain even if you win the duell?
    It seems to me from your videos that it's almost impossible to protect the gaps in the armor.

    Could you please gimme the links for your non-choreographed duels? I was struggling to understand which ones are so.
    Edit: i wrote it before watching this video (just saw u were saying about non-choreographed duels on another video so i thought there are both types of duels: that was a year ago so i guess all your recemt duels are non-chor).

    When you say knock out was your friend actually knocked out? Or did he just decide to go down after being hit hard enough?

    • @dequitem
      @dequitem  2 дня назад +2

      A mix of both. Knock outs can be only a few seconds. So he stumbled for real, but before he hit the ground he was okay again, so he was able to stand up again.

    Are there historical accounts of both duelists dying when they go to the ground stabbing each other with daggers?
    I can imagine with adrenaline rush you stand up over your defeated opponent and collapse as you walk away.
