Its hard to tell because they all technically were on something when they saw her. Emily was knocked out, Hannah was on medication, Spencer had painkillers, and Aria had some of that tea.But at the same time theres evidence she was there.
This show had so much lore and supernatural mysteries in the earlier seasons. Just so much edge. It was all just thrown out the window from season 4 onwards.
My fave is When Ali visits spencer

This show was literally lightning in a bottle during its early seasons! Everything about it just clicked, and the mystery aspect of the show was so much fun! In the first three seasons, I relished every single flashback or “visit” from Alison bc she was such an intriguing character and Sasha IS Alison Dilaurentis! She was so enigmatic and everything she said was mesmerizing, as if she were speaking in riddles that needed deciphering. I remember when they started to hint that Ali was actually still alive that I would love it bc I hated to think such a mysterious and engaging character was truly dead. Sadly, the show changed its storylines and the direction it wanted to take the story so many times that these early moments with Alison are still just as mysterious as they were when they aired bc they never amounted to anything. The same can be said with Alison’s character, they stripped her of almost ever ounce of charisma and confidence that made Alison so interesting to watch. There are times that I wish that she had remained purely in flashbacks, bc she lost all that power, allure, and ability to affect peoples lives in so many different emotional and psychological ways once she returned. If they weren’t going to fully commit to her being A or a villain in general, they should have allowed her to remain the “boogeyman” of Rosewood and hold onto the immortality she longed for in life and to always remain the alluring missing girl in the painting, just like she admitted to wanting in Spencer’s film noir dream.
That so true if you think about if Alison did have a twin who was A the girls would never have seen what kinda person Ali really was. It would have made her an interesting character.
It's different episodes. But when Alison visits Hanna: 01x11, Emily: 02x12, Spencer: 02x24 and Aria: 03x16 :)

Also, ending song of 3x16 when Mona is drinking Spencer and Toby's anniversary wine; the song playing is called "Aria with 30 variations". I believe Aria has a split-personality. Hello Black Swan? Byron also mentioned that mental illness runs in the family. And in the new Season 4 promo: Lucy says "A's ALWAYS WATCHING." (Acting like A).

And she obviously didnt want them to know she is alive and even if she did it doesnt explain why she visited Hanna and Emily and didnt visit Aria and Spencer, she just wanted to take something from their houses. I think she doesnt trust Aria and Spencer. Idk why though

In the last scene where Ali and Aria are talking... Ali said she knew who A is but since it happened on the third season that couldn't be possible. How is she surprised "Spencer hasn't figured that out" if not even Ali knew who A was in that moment. They were all surprised when it was revealed!

They all saw allison and everyone of them thought they were dreaming or hallucinating. Not one of them ever realized she was right there. Alison is really good at not being seen or getting in and out before anyone realized she was actually there

Such an amazing actress. While the others were like 22 playing the roles of 16 which they've been obviously.
Sasha was only 12 pretending to be 22 playing the role of 16. To act so mature like an adult to the point no one suspected she was a child. Then to play the role of a 16 year old when she hasn't even been that age yet is truly impressive.

Whatever happened to this 'bigger role' storyline? Weren't they sort of hinting that each girl did *something* that night that had something to do with Ali's disappearance? They only did that for Spencer but forgot the rest

My Pll theory: Ok, this may sound crazy but it kinda makes sense. Alison is really dead. The person the liars see is her ghost. Yes, Alison's ghost. I know it sounds cray but here are my reasons:
(1) She appeared in everyone's hallucination (or was it?) How is it that she comes to Spencer's and Aria's house, Hanna's hospital and that barn for Emily without anyone seeing her? It was real since Alison (her ghost) tells them and she leaves hints behind. Aria's doll gone, Spencer's door open.
(2) She appears/disappears. When Hannah goes to find Toby , she sees red coat (Alison's ghost) running inside the building, Emily runs inside too but finds Toby's work colleague and people working inside there. None of them saw Alison come inside. How's that possible? Also, in the latest episode, Alison just disappears inside the elevator. Even Spencer goes like, 'Where did she disappear, how is that possible?"
(3) In the Halloween episode, when the liars see Alison, she suddenly disappears (again) when Ezra appears. And he goes like, "You guys look like you've seen a ghost". Not that Ezra knows she's a ghost but kind of like a hint and giving the audience and indirect idea.
(4) In the other Halloween episode, a small child comes to Hannah's house. Who resembled Alison and she suddenly disappears too when Hannah's mom goes back up. Some kind of relation between her and Alison?

Good point, or it could be another reason or clue why Alison is alive. Why didn't she tell Emily who A was if she was dead anyway. But if she actually was alive she couln't tell Emily the secret because two can only keep a secret if one of them is dead.

She is the only in the opening theme that put her finger on her lips and says "shhh." Also in one of the scene endings, they show a doll house with all the dolls, Allison is seasted on top and there are four dolls on another level, 3 of them are wearing normal cloths and Aria's doll is wearing jeans and a black hoodie!

In the story Vivian Darkbloom wrote, (the book Lolita) there is an 'older' guy that falls in love with a younger girl. Don't you see? Ezra and Aria are the characters and Alison is the authoress!! Alison is "Vivian", Ezra is the "older guy", and Aria is "Lolita".

Ally is alive and I have known that forever. Even though they are not going by the books the books do mention Ally all the time in the books. I have known Ally has been alive. I can't wait for the special on Tuesday!
