    I work at an airport and we have these MT's set to the hi-lo tone for door alarms, which I much prefer. At my old airport, we had the same MT's, but all set to the continuous horn tone for door alarms and I swear going through any door was nerve-wracking not to set it off!

    I have the Agent Release version of the MT-24MCW in my collection. One time I wired it to strobe setting because every time I power the panel the alarms go off accidentally because I wired my heat detector incorrectly (now fixed)-and it made noise and no strobe. Then I figured out the jumper wires bypassed the strobe and went to audible so I removed it until the alarms weren’t automatically going off after I wired the heat detector correctly!

    • @NewEnglandElevators

      Seems like a pretty typical Simplex installation, with regular Simplex devices on the inside, and Wheelock devices on the outside (I believe they're approved by Simplex or the UL for use on Simplex systems). Even though there's new weatherproof TrueAlerts, still seems like there's installations with the Wheelock devices on the outside. Thanks for your input!

      ***** And what i mean by a "versus video" is a tone comparison. Like the MT on High/Low versus the GOS on High/Low. Just wanted to make sure you understand what i mean by a "versus video."

    • @ironmatic1
      @ironmatic1 7 лет назад +2

      I've learned that lots of newer codes in many areas require code 3. And Go Animate guy, the reason it's so often on horn and not tone is because it's more annoying so people get out faster. That's the purpose of (most) fire alarms after all...

    • @NewEnglandElevators
      @NewEnglandElevators  9 лет назад

      Goldenrod636 Interesting to hear about a system that used the "bell" setting. Usually, everything is set to the default "horn" setting.

    • @Goldenrod636
      @Goldenrod636 9 лет назад

      But it wasn't in the system. It was the bell change system. So I think it was hidden somewhere in the rafters so it could reverberate throughout the school. We did have a Wheelock AS in the multipurpose room though.

    WHY DID THEY PUT CONTINUOUS AS ITS DEFAULT TONE?!

    • @NewEnglandElevators
      @NewEnglandElevators  4 года назад +1

      Because this alarm was designed before Code 3 was a standard, as with most of the other Multi-Tone devices I've featured on here. I'm sure it would have been different if these devices were released after Code 3 was a standard (such as the Commander 3). Now why they didn't make it a standard on this one considering this design is after 2002, I have no clue, probably because it was already grandfathered or something.
