The silence at 5:50 is absolutely deafening. The fact the audience is so transfixed by her performance and drawn into her telling of Jenna’s story that they don’t make a single sound until the end of the song is something that very few artists can do.
@@sebastiancovington5093Shoshana is one of the few artists that embraces the use of cameras by attendees and knows that videotaping allows for more people to see the show and promotes the show. This is something she has always done even in her Hairspray days. It is why she was still drawing in numbers of attendance not seen by a newcomer leading a show because she embraced it rather than ignoring it. Shoshana is a talent so big that Wicked actually increased attendance during her tenure as Elphaba. To say that’s an achievement is an understatement, she was a complete newcomer (replacing a Tony winning Actress ) who kept attendance at 100% capacity her entire run as Elphaba. A newcomer being able to do that is astonishing.
the thing that's beautiful about sho's rendition of she used to be mine is that she puts so much emotion into it. I feel like I can really see her sadness and frustration with losing herself. I love how it builds up and how the sadness slowly turns to anger and frustration.
There is such a trust between the MD and Sho here. The MD is keeping the tempo in the knowledge that Sho will do her thing and they will both meet at the end. It’s kind of beautiful.
Wow. I've heard this song a million times. I've seen Katharine Mcphee and Sara herself at the west end... but this performance, wow. That's HER song. She's telling everything with every part of her performance. Amazing. Thanks for the upload.
The way she sings the word 'hurt' at 4:57. Wow, I could just replay that one line all day. What an amazing voice she has and this is one of, if not, the best version of this song I have heard.
ShoBean and Jesse Mueller are tied for me. Each of them brings something new to the character, but both are equally powerful and emotionally satisfying to watch. ❤❤❤
If ALL singers and entertainers put 1/3 of the feeling into their music that the IMPECCABLE and FLAWLESS Shoshana Bean does….WOW…I mean there are no other words."……
I’ve watched this a hundred times and am as transfixed now as I was the first time. I freeze in place and am so drawn in 😮. We all know by know what a powerhouse vocalist Sho is, but dam I sometimes forget what an amazing actor she is as well ❤❤
I found this song through Jeremy Jordan, and it quickly became a favorite. Shoshana Bean isn't just singing it, she's living it, and she makes me feel the lyrics right along with her. She is my favorite Jenna.
I really wish Sho had originated this role! she really needs to originate a role in an amazing show, win the Tony, and finally receive the acclaim she's deserved for years!
I think I always come back to Shoshana's rendition because she does such an exemplary job of portraying such contrasting emotions. She smiles, but it's strained. Her voice can seem bubbly, but there's something underneath. The final crescendos is our look into how she handles everything with a smile on her face.
It's not simple to say Most days I don't recognize me These shoes and this apron That place and its patrons Have taken more than I gave 'em It's not easy to know I'm not anything like I used to be Although it's true I was never attention sweet center I still remember that girl She's imperfect but she tries She is good but she lies She is hard on herself She is broken and won't ask for help She is messy but she's kind She is lonely most of the time She is all of this mixed up And baked in a beautiful pie She is gone but she used to be mine It's not what I asked for Sometimes life just slips in through a back door And carves out a person And makes you believe it's all true And now I've got you And you're not what I asked for If I'm honest I know I would give it all back For a chance to start over And rewrite an ending or two For the girl that I knew Who be reckless just enough Who can hurt but Who learns how to toughen up when she's bruised And gets used by a man who can't love And then she'll get stuck and be scared Of the life that's inside her Growing stronger each day 'Til it finally reminds her To fight just a little To bring back the fire in her eyes That's been gone but it used to be mine Used to be mine She is messy but she's kind She is lonely most of the time She is all of this mixed up and baked in a beautiful pie She is gone but she used to be mine
Ohhh MY God!!! And THAT is how you get it done! WOW, Shoshana! Im watching this in Ohio on RUclips and you still blew me into next Tuesday! Waitress GOAT!!!
I swear i can relate sooo much to this song. What a beautiful job she did!!💜💜💜💜💜💜
The way she smiles through her anguish during "Dear Baby" kills me. Perfect set up for the next song
literally. i’m not pregnant but i felt that so much. the smiling through the pain. forced to put on a happy face to appease others is so insane. 😭🖤

And that Sho was looking directly at the camera made my heart skip a beat.
This is the performance I always think of when I think is sho

I literally wasn't even breathing in that part. Too iconic!

Best singer of this song EVER, she puts so much raw emotion into it and she has such an amazing voice it’s insane
Yes!!!!!
Hands down the best version. The soul is unreal
Just so much emotion! Like she’s singing for her life.
Shivers, tears, ugly sobbing. This, Sho is perfection.
Shout out to the accompanist for following her timing too cause lord knows she was doing her own thing 😂

She’s using rubato. The accompaniment is just keeping a steady tempo 😊
@@KatieJPrice-ri3by It definitely isn't at the end
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Im auditioning with it tomorrow
The audience was in absolute shambles when I saw this live

Amazing! I love Soshana as Jenna, I really love the emotion and rawness that shines through her voice
The difference of singing the piece compared to performing it. 🤩 Love it
I actually cried a little. Wow
this is my favorite version of it. i love the rasp in her voice, and her actually crying, it makes it feel so much more resl
That couch is broken and won't ask for help.
BAHAHAHA-
I would eat that couch if it meant a touch of greatness. Lol. I would buy her calendar off this video alone bro. Mmm
ShoBean and Jesse Mueller are tied for me. Each of them brings something new to the character, but both are equally powerful and emotionally satisfying to watch. ❤❤❤
the waterworks 😭 understood my mom a little bit after this. just whoa
I'll go watch 4 or 5 covers and then come here for a cold reminder...then back to covers....then cold reminder. What an incredible song.

I love this song but her performance is just amazing and I have never felt so much catharsis after a Broadway song
the BEST version of this song
I saw her opening night as Jenna. It was magical
Wow...found the best version finally
I found this song through Jeremy Jordan, and it quickly became a favorite. Shoshana Bean isn't just singing it, she's living it, and she makes me feel the lyrics right along with her. She is my favorite Jenna.
SHO IS A GOAT!
literal shivers.
Wow. I just can’t. I’m speechless. 😶
Best version ever!!! Sho is phenomenal.
Unbelievable artist.
This is the best version I've ever heard 😭😭
I really wish Sho had originated this role! she really needs to originate a role in an amazing show, win the Tony, and finally receive the acclaim she's deserved for years!
She wouldn’t have won anyway because Hamilton came out the same year
best jenna
No one does it like her
I will watch this one thousand times in the next year. Thank you Neekoboi for getting me here. Wow
Chills. Sobbing. Ugly Crying. Everytime 😭
Shoshana is Mother and she was mothering 👏👏
This is my favourite version of this song
Queen
SCARED at 5:14 is a chefs kiss
I love this version. It's different than a lot of them, but she embodies Jenna.
that echo!
wow.

It's not simple to say
Most days I don't recognize me
These shoes and this apron
That place and its patrons
Have taken more than I gave 'em
It's not easy to know
I'm not anything like I used to be
Although it's true
I was never attention sweet center
I still remember that girl
She's imperfect but she tries
She is good but she lies
She is hard on herself
She is broken and won't ask for help
She is messy but she's kind
She is lonely most of the time
She is all of this mixed up
And baked in a beautiful pie
She is gone but she used to be mine
It's not what I asked for
Sometimes life just slips in through a back door
And carves out a person
And makes you believe it's all true
And now I've got you
And you're not what I asked for
If I'm honest I know I would give it all back
For a chance to start over
And rewrite an ending or two
For the girl that I knew
Who be reckless just enough
Who can hurt but
Who learns how to toughen up when she's bruised
And gets used by a man who can't love
And then she'll get stuck and be scared
Of the life that's inside her
Growing stronger each day
'Til it finally reminds her
To fight just a little
To bring back the fire in her eyes
That's been gone but it used to be mine
Used to be mine
She is messy but she's kind
She is lonely most of the time
She is all of this mixed up and baked in a beautiful pie
She is gone but she used to be mine
Ohhh MY God!!! And THAT is how you get it done! WOW, Shoshana! Im watching this in Ohio on RUclips and you still blew me into next Tuesday! Waitress GOAT!!!
YUP. 😮💨🔥
Why didn’t I find this sooner
It was up maybe a year or two ago, and then it just vanished. I was GUTTED. I am so happy to have found it again.
I don't know why my tears just fell from my eyes 🥺🥺🥺 I really felt the song... 🥺
❤
This song was written for her I swear
That echo!
