Loved the video, and definetly want to see more of this kind of friendly cometition! I really like this idea of a mini golf/mini tac. I am 18 and for my first two years of archery, I prepared by shooting every day after school until dark and watching every archery video that I could find. I will be shooting in the mornings before work, when i can after work, and hopefullt be shooting my first local 3d shoots this year. There is so much that i have learned and so much more that i want to contonue to learn. I have grown to love archery and i could not imagine my life without it. It is truly a lifestyle and i love seeing people with these same interests and drives as i have! Keep up the great content and Keep Hammering! 😂
Archery is my passion. I try to shoot my bow every day whether it be the indoor range going to the outdoor range or traveling between Wyoming, Montana, and Colorado for 3-D shoots. I like shooting an awkward positions. I believe it’s great for practicing for the hunt. You never know what situation you’re gonna be put into. I tried to practice with as much realism in the scenario as possible. Whether it be shooting uphill downhill Highwind bad weather you name it I like to be out shooting in it. Thank you for your videos. Keep up the great work. Big fan of all your gear and I’ve had zero issues with everything I’ve purchased so far thank you.
As far as getting ready for season. I shoot at least 10 to 20 arrows every day and then at the range on the weekends for an hour or two. Not only do I practice but start getting gear ready as early as right now! Sharpening broadheads, figuring out what arrows I am shooting! I usually don't hunt until last part of Oct to mid Nov. This still sneaks up really really fast. Thanks again for the Vid, that was cool, you shooting with Kyle. P.S. I also went through a spell with target panic. I Bought a hinge and use it with a click and implement Joel Turner's shot IQ. Get loud in your head with your shot process! It has truly helped with it.
What a fun time! I prepare my self for archery season shooting all different ranges standing, kneeling, etc. I’m excited for this season, I drew a pretty good archery Idaho Antelope tag. Good luck to the Muley Freak team this archery season. Can’t wait to watch your videos
Love the video ! Once the weather starts warming, set up my targets, dial in my sight, prepare my arrows (fletching, nocks, etc) and start slinging arrows. I try to vary the situations when practicing, from height to obstacles.
For me it’s the more I shoot the better I feel. Last year we built a 3D course at my club with some very challenging shots. I practice different distances, angles and positions until I feel more confident in my shots. Also, like my .22 league, archery is a total head game. One can’t dwell on what just happened except to analyze it, it’s the shot a hand that’s more important. Fling on everyone.
Just started learning archery a few months ago. I’m in love with it and I get get ready by going outside and taking shots everyday. I start off with a 60yd shot and work my way down to 20yards. After that I shot off my back porch and behind our bushes to switch up my angles.
I prepare by shooting every day and not leaving the range until I put 12 arrows in a row into a paper plate at 60! Helps me feel confident for closer shots. Great vid!
Great video! Kyle is so chill and down to earth. My prep for hunting season includes a backpacking trip into the Uintahs or Windrivers each year. Just got back from a 5-day 26 mile trip in Winds - it was awesome!
Awesome video, love the competitiveness. I prepare in lots of ways but the main one is 3D shoots with friends at our local course and it gets competitive but stays fun. Each target is a different distance and the nerves stay high which helps in those real moment shots. Good luck to every hunter this fall!!
I prepare by shooting as often as possible. And not caring where I hit the target, but making a clean shot and trying to stay totally focused. It’s helped me a lot while hunting !
I just got into shooting archery this last year but the cross over from competitive shooting in the fire arms makes it a great cross over. Im looking forward to pushing my archery in the coming year!
To prepare for the season I start close range. Close my eyes through the draw cycle concentrate on form, anchor point, then open my eyes to see how close my peep is on my pins to judge how consistent my form is. Then I’ll start backing up making sure im dead on at different ranges. And finally I’ll start shooting 3D from different angles, elevations, and having the targets facing different directions to work on proper shot placement. I also just got the Mathews Lift for this season. Excited to put it to work.
Great video. Always enjoy 3D shootoffs like these. Right now I jsut try to make sure everything on my bow is dialed. As the season inches closer, I like to transition to all 3D targets and introduce a little competition like this into the mix. Totally changes the game! Now go get that 180" deer!
I do a once over on my bow by making sure my bow is tuned, arrows are paper tuned, I check all my gear like my pack, range finder, saddle, etc. are all safe and in working order. I train all year physically so I make sure I can take on any challenge depending on where I'm hunting. And then I try and shoot my bow a couple times a week from different yardages, angles, and shooting positions. Hard to do sometimes living in the city so if I'm not shooting out at my buddies place then I'm down in the parking garage getting in reps and focusing on consistency!
I like this backyard 3d shoot series, keep them coming. I keep up to par with upcoming hunts by fitness and focusing on basic fundamentals of shooting a bow/rifle. If I did my reps and have confidence, everything should be hitting. Thanks
I prepare for archery season and hunting by shooting my bow daily minimum 100 arrows a day! I also go to local 3d tournaments and shooting in front of other people puts pressure on me cause I’m always shooting by myself in my backyard. Great video!
Realistic 3D practice! I live in an area where we have a couple 3D courses that are set up as realistic hunting scenarios through the entire course… awkward angles, shot platforms and crazy up hill and down hill conditions. I try and make it out every weekend. Another tool I use is a shot trainer. Living in town it’s not ideal to shoot but just getting comfortable with my release has helped a TON.
It’ll be my first year hunting but I’ve recently been participating in 3D shoots and doing research on what to pack for based on what I’m hunting. Your videos and others have been pretty useful thank you for providing such dope content!
Get ready for the season by going to the local bow shop to shoot 3D targets inside and out then also shooting at the house with wife and 6 year son as a family. awesome video!!!!
This was a fun round of mini archery, I like to try and stay in shape, and of course practice practice practice, take the time to scout, and go through all my gear make sure everything is ready to go for the season.
I prepare by shooting nonstop, I shoot 3d, and other ways just to be ready for anything and everything. Another thing I do is hit the gym and run. I want to be in the best shape possible for season. Love the videos.
I have been shooting at least twice a month. I shoot until fatigued to train for those shots where you have to hold at full draw for what seems like forever until the animal steps out and presents a good quality shot. I also get the blood pumping and heart rate up to help with curbing those adrenaline dumps and then the deer spooks or never presents a shot and you end up with the shakes. During the shakes, it never fails is when they decide to present the shot and you have to know how to remain calm and focused in that moment. With Florida season getting closer, i will start practicing on shooting at least one arrow a day with no warm ups due to sitting in the stand, you only get one shot with no warm ups.
So I prepare in a couple ways. One I shoot regularly at 3d courses around the area at least once a month. I also do a lot of whitetail hunting so I shoot from a stand to double check elevation. I also do a lot of running and working out before the season starts to be in the best shape possible since I will not make the gym much during the season. This video was fun to watch!
I don't really prepare for hunting season as I shoot every day. I do shoot a fair amount of 3D shoots leafing up to archery season. I make sure my bow is in tip top shape prior to opening day. I go over it with a fine tooth comb. Loving the content, keep up the great work.
Just did it today as part of my preliminary practice. Went through all my gear, packed up my pack, put my saddle on, climbed into the tree and took a few shots. Went up the tree in 13 minutes and after shooting back down in 9 minutes.. good first run at it.
Awesome content! Backyard practice out to 60 everyday, different angles from sitting to shooting off my roof for those steep angles. Good luck to you this season. Can’t wait to see your hunts this year.
Awesome video we love the tournament...preparing by every day practice from difrent angles and positions ...have a blessed season.......All the way from South Africa...were the BiG FIVE runs LOOSE.... keep on Hammering
I always found I shot a lot better on the mountain taking my deer target up there setting it up in the trees and on hills. Shoot in the environment I plan to hunt. But a ton of sticks thrown in the yard to stay dialed and ready. Loved the video. Haha the hammer was a great microphone for sure. Props to showing the misses and sharing the target panic. I’ve also developed it myself. It’s a bigger for sure hard to shake it. Super frustrating to have shot so well for years then deal with it now. I watched a video by Chris bee on target panic. He had a lot of great advice and a good program to follow. Hope this year treats you well Eric and muleyfreak crew!
first hunt coming up this year but i have been trying to shoot at least 50 arrows a day and at different ranges making sure bow is dialed in and watching a ton of youtube to make sure and get all the extra tips from guys with way more experience then me is how i am preparing this year.
Awesome video! I prepare for hunting season with first make sure my bow is tuned. I check, cam timing, cam lean, and weight of bow. Then paper tune for the broadhead of choice that year. Then go outside double check my sight tape. And keep shooting with the broadhead of choice.
I do several things to prepare. I have my wife and son drop arrows at different distances and angles. They also tell me if I have to stand, kneel, etc. to take the shot. I also do a drill where I’ll sprint 50 yards, grab my bow, acquire the target and shoot. Good luck this Fall everyone!!
We do something similar another thing we do a lot is take each other's arrows and throw them all over the place and you have to shoot from where they land and there is a lot of trees and brush around my yard
Great video, way to bring the fun to practice. Hope to see more like this! We shoot year round 3d and indoor target to stay fresh. Both kids shoot competitively for their schools, so all our practice becomes competitive eventually!!
That was your best video yet. I was laughing outloud. First of all Erik was humbled speechless, but the friendly competition was a great video choice. Let's see it again with long range shooting. Well done guys and better luck next time Mr. V!
To prep I hang a stand in the backyard to shoot from a platform and spend a lot of time at our local range judging yardage on the fly. Also get my daily workouts in. Thanks!!
Enjoyed the video! My preseason practice consists of only shooting one arrow, pulling the arrow and changing distances rather than shooting groups. Best of luck this season!
To prep for archery season i sight my bow in up my local mountains. I take my dog up there to the mountains also to practice calling and try and glass the area just to get my eyes back in to hunting mode!
For me getting ready starts with local 3D Tournaments in February. Broadheads go on in July and I make sure to get Broadhead reps in right up to the opener.
At home we practice awkward shooting positions (seated, draw laying down and sit up for the shot, use a corner and lean out etc) and we get to as many 3D tournaments as we can to put some pressure on. Shooting spots sounds boring but it helps get the form repeatable to!
To prep for hunting I try and shoot as much as I can in the backyard, right now the goal is 50 arrows per day. I also shoot 2-3 local 3D tournaments to try and get used to shooting under pressure.
Still pretty new to archery. Haven't gotten drawn for a hunt yet but have gone to 3d events. I like to try to shoot a few times a week if not daily. At a bag and 3d target. Like to shoot in different angles and from standing and kneeling. Also do so running just to stay in some type of shape. Really enjoying this new archery journey i am on. I got bit by that archery bug and is my new favorite thing to do. Also gone and did a little rabbit hunting down at the family fields. Which is some good practice. Thanks for your time. Have a good one.
I enjoyed watching your video, what I do to get ready for hunting is practice at longer distance than I would ever shoot at for Deer. One year I was going Moose hunting for the first time, I started off practicing by hunting ground hogs with my bow it was perfect practice, the stock and the long shots helped me be successful on a nice Bull.
Best thing I do to prepare is shoot a resistance release and then I start to trickle my hunting realse in and then I shoot loooong distance to mentally prepare for long shots and then when I have a 20-30 shot I automatically have a mental fortitude that it’s a chip shot. Great video. 💪💪💪💪💪
Awesome video i love a good friendly tournament i like to practice from a tree stand and different angles with brush. Looking forward to season. And good luck to all of you on the team
I like to mimic terrain scenarios and even shooting positions to make the uncomfortable comfortable. As well as watching videos and learning how to get better 🤘🏹🦌
I usually just start getting out and shooting in the summer. Generally between 20-60 yds. Before season I like to practice shots out of stands I have to different trails to make sure I’m good and to check for branches.
It’s my first year drawing a bow tag was lucky enough to get early dear in New Mexico , Don’t really know how to prepare just been trying to shoot As much as possible and exercise to get in shape. Love the videos.
That’s a great way to prepare right there. Check out MTNTOUGH if you really wanna test yourself and prepare. Code “muleyfreak” will get you 6 weeks free. 🆓
Im not an archery hunter ……yet. But I would just be thrilled to have that harness and hydration pack for rifle hunting. And my work outs have been mostly walking. Get up. Get off the couch. And get walking. But my #1 work out is walking the puppies
Just discovered your channel. Great content, keep it coming!!! I prepare for archery season by shooting lots of 3D and paper targets. Big believer that picking up my bow as frequently as possible leads to the best habits/form/consistency.
Awesome vid. I shoot everyday but I usually practice different things on different days. Some days I really focus on my anchor, some days I really focus on my release. I came from an athletic background so I almost treat it like drilling different aspects. Some days I only shoot 2 or 3 arrows at different yardages. And, I shoot long ranges, a lot.
Keeping good health to begin with, ill shoot every distance from 20-80 wont leave that spot im at till i have 4 arrows in a 3in dot, try to scout every weekend i can, most importantly is building confidence in my abilities to execute a perfect shot
I am currently shooting a bow that is older than I am. Since my dad is only a rifle hunter I stick with him. Once he gets to old to hunt. (A couple years) I plan on hunting more archery. with that being said I am focusing my practice right now on thee mechanics and being consistent with an older bow. that way when I upgrade my bow in the next year or two, the mechanics are there and I can focus more on setups and awkward shots.
When I am being "serious" ! I prepare by shooting enough arrows to be grooved into the current form and fit enough to shoot All the shots I need to well ! Rather than finishing barely able to draw !
Kyle said it all. To prepare for hunting, practice practice practice. I try and put myself it hunting situations the best I can. Get your heart rate high and then shoot. Try to replicate buck fever.
New subscriber, just getting into archery with my grandson, and I really enjoy it . Right now, we are shooting 3D at our archery club. Hopefully, someday, we can go bow hunting. Enjoyed the video.
My prep for hunting season is all year as both my boys travel and shoot archery ternaments all year, so I practice with them, and to be honest, the pressure of shooting ternaments is way more than hunting and it has greatly improved my shooting
I shoot 3d tournaments here in Colorado all year indoor and out to get ready for hunting and keeps me sharp for competition and then i shoot at home every day at 20 yards.
Great video man! New to the channel but loving the content. When i get ready for hunting season i like to shoot out of my tree stand and I like to shoot daily. I make sure I retune my bow each season just to make sure there isnt anything that could go wrong in the moment. Love this style of vid!
Thanks, Colin and welcome to the channel. If you're hunting out of a treestand then practicing shooting out of one makes a lot of sense. We don't hunt out of treestands in this part of the country. At least not very often!
Daing now that’s a sweet backyard setup toys for the boys, i personally prepare here n az by going to range at high noon when its super hot have the public range to myself and always start at 80 to 120 before i swing for the 30 to 70, alwys put in the reps w my bino harness on and full quiver w field tips to match what im shooting
Love the content and clothing! I rock your shirts everywhere! To prepare I do the mtn tough workouts. Scout my ass off, and practice practice practice!!!
For me, 3D archery season is to prepare for hunting season. The hours I work limit my preparation for 3D, but by the time hunting season is in ready to start, my bow and arrows are set, I have had time to shoot under pressure and for me, it isn't about winning tournaments, it is about becoming a better shot for more ethical shot placement.
I try to shoot every other day after school. I can only shoot in my friends back yard so I have to ask permission every time until now they just let me. My back yard isn’t big enough. About a month in advance I am packing all my gear to make sure I never forget anything. It’s a lot of work but I love it. Love the video too👊
I shoot 3d during season ASA and NFAA/IFAA I also shoot indoor leagues over the winter so that way I’m always on top of my game especially during hunting season. Constantly being under pressure during these tournaments helps tremendously during the hunting season and when it comes down to that one shot it is just second nature to make that nice clean shot. I don’t even think of my shot process anymore.
How I prepare for the hunts is I go scout out the type of area I’m going to hunt and try to practice or put myself in that same terrain so when it comes to shooting I’m a little more prepared and confident. Plus I practice as much as I possibly can and try to analyze every shot to help minimize my mistakes.
Best thing I’ve found for my training coming up on bow season is at least 10 shots when I get home from work in the morning only focused on making a fundamentally sound shot not to worried about accuracy just yet
As far as prepping for archery season one thing I do is practice shooting in my garage at my target. To try and create shooting under pressure I go over to my friends house where he has a really awesome 3D Archery set up kind of like the one that you and Kyle did in this video. We will compete against each other and have loser buy drinks or other things of that nature. I also have been doing the stair master machine at the gym to get my endurance up for the long grueling hikes that are coming up.
Just discovered your channel with this vid. Hats off to you guys and awesome content! I prepare by setting up targets and trying to replicate a real life hunting shot in all different kinds of angles. Bc we all know we won’t always have a 20 yard perfectly broadside shot! Keep it up!
Welcome to the channel, homie! Appreciate you being here with us! Hope you stick around awhile and check out some of the content. Thanks for your comment!
Practice, practice, practice. Doesn't matter if it's hunting season or tournament season. The more i shoot, the more confident i am with my equipment and myself.
My money is still on Kyle for the next one! 😂 Every time I shoot, it's with intention. I am working on something, dialing in or fixing something, or testing myself and my setup shooting competitively!

Thanks for the feedback, Brett. Erik will take him on the next shoot! :)
This is my first archery season ever. Just been shooting a ton. Walking. Getting in better shape. Nebraska time is almost here!
That's a fun way to get ready for hunting season. I like doing TAC events and local 3D events. A little side bet always adds a little pressure!
Erik didn't want to lose either, but the pressure got to him. Thanks for watching!
To prep I hang a stand in the backyard to shoot from a platform and spend a lot of time at our local range judging yardage on the fly. Also get my daily workouts in. Thanks!!
Work outs are key!
Enjoyed the video! My preseason practice consists of only shooting one arrow, pulling the arrow and changing distances rather than shooting groups. Best of luck this season!
Would have should have could have. Practice practice. Now is the time. Thanks for the reminder!
Lots of practice. Verify multiple ranges!
It's been years since I've shot a bow. Had a shoulder injury, but was thinking of getting back into it soon
I prepare by shooting at least 12-15 arrows a day between 20-30 yards. And of course watch muley freak video love the content
Best answer yet! :)
Def helps shooting out at distance as it makes the closer shots seems REAL close!
Excellent video and what a fun shoot glad you guys made this video! Both shoot great!
Thnx for watching!
Rucking around my neighborhood, lots and lots of practice in the backyard, and studying maps/onx where im gonna hunt.

@@MuleyFreakwhen are y’all going to pick a winner for this?
Im not an archery hunter ……yet. But I would just be thrilled to have that harness and hydration pack for rifle hunting. And my work outs have been mostly walking. Get up. Get off the couch. And get walking. But my #1 work out is walking the puppies
Just discovered your channel. Great content, keep it coming!!! I prepare for archery season by shooting lots of 3D and paper targets. Big believer that picking up my bow as frequently as possible leads to the best habits/form/consistency.
Welcome to the channel and thanks for watching!
Building confidence is definitely key 🔑 in my opinion to success in the field. Ans you can’t build confidence without reps?
Good video boys! I prepare for hunting season by shooting a bunch of random distances and from different angles and shooting positions.
I used to sluff school and go to Smith and Edwards. Awesome store!!!
Haha. Thats awesome!
That was awesome!! Eric can’t believe you put 2 in the dirt on your home turf.
Bro. Turns out my sight was out of whack. No excuses tho
@@MuleyFreak figured something was off cuz your usually money from the back deck
The last target of the gopher at 93 yards is insane, I mean just to be able to hit it at that distance says a lot!👍
My prep for hunting season is all year as both my boys travel and shoot archery ternaments all year, so I practice with them, and to be honest, the pressure of shooting ternaments is way more than hunting and it has greatly improved my shooting
Love the vids keep up the good work! I shoot as many 3D shoots as possible and lots of reps when I have time.
Thnx for watching! Kyle is a killer, but Erik is not one to back down!
Practicing all the time. At different times of the day.Exercise and in shape for the long hall.
I shoot 3d tournaments here in Colorado all year indoor and out to get ready for hunting and keeps me sharp for competition and then i shoot at home every day at 20 yards.
Lift, ruck, and shoot. Keep hammering!
I prepare for archery season with TAC, e-scouting, lots of cardio and strength training.
Fun video, way to go Kyle. Never to much practice
Love the content and clothing! I rock your shirts everywhere! To prepare I do the mtn tough workouts. Scout my ass off, and practice practice practice!!!
Dedicated and smart man right here! ^^
Thanks for sharing!
Practice makes perfect! Thanks for sharing!
Shooting bow daily, setting up and checking trail cams, scouting, and E-scouting! And shopping for new gear!
Shoot everyday and practice how you play. That will get it done! Thanks for the opportunity!
🔥
Same way you do brother! Practice often!
I prepare for archery season by practicing every day of the year even in winter. And I shoot about about 140 arrows a day.
140!?
Shooting your bow year around is how I avoid feeling unprepared. Kyle is a stud
Kyle is a great dude indeed. Thanks for watching!
