So the Garlic Jr. Movie in this video happened before Raditz and the Garlic Jr. that happened before the Android Saga was after that. That time Garlic Jr. esacped from the dead zone he was sent to in this movie. So while this movie was made after that episode, it happened before that episode chronologically.
Some of the oddity with release schedule of the specials/movies was that they would give a early viewing at a anime convention in Michigan around Halloween.
14:59 this is still one of the best choreographed moments in the DBZ movies. It’s like right on the cusp of Goku the martial arts master before he became Goku the planet buster.
The Krillin Counter is only for the Abridged episodes, not the movies. The creators would've included it in movies too, but unfortunately, they came up with the counter late in the game.
When they started DBZA they probably didn't even have a notion of doing the movies until after they were well underway. World's Strongest and Deadzone would have been the first two films in the series if we're going by time but they were well out of the first season already before they had a notion to do the films. It was actually the prospect of working on Bojak that had them decide to put a pin in the series. They were uninspired and had little to no material to work with in the film to make it funny up to their standards and it led to a feeling of burnout. In the official DBZ universe, none of the films are canon and it gives some room for them to fool around with concepts and characters that don't have much of a place in the show. Like young Trunks giving Hitler the finger. Within DBZA though it's all absurd anyway so it really doesn't matter, especially when things can be done to make events irrelevant such as Goku telling Gohan the story of Bardock, which was all just a dream anyway.
Regarding “there’s no repercussions to wishes,” depends on what you think is canon. In GT, every wish built up negative energy in the dragonballs which would usually dissipate over time between wishes. Bulma’s radar made it easy enough to find them that the energy built up until they corrupted.
Yeah, the King in Ox-King isn't part of his name, it's his title. He's a literal king. He has a kingdom. He's also pretty strong, being one of Master Roshi's students.
They're not interrupting anything with this movie. The Garlic Jr. Episode they showed, is supposed to be a "continuation" to this movie, it even refrences it. This movie takes place before Raditz even arrives to earth (it would've if it was canon which it is not) seeing by Gohan's outfit, Goku and Piccolo's rivalry, and Goku not having Super Saiyan yet so this movie is not taking place during the android saga when it was uploaded.
Important to remember that Abridged content uses primarily original footage. It looks old because it's adapting older DBZ content, but TFS's overall production quality (sound, writing, editing) lines up pretty neatly with the androids saga.
3:14 Ok, time to correct both you guys AND the comments, but mostly the comments this time (woo-hoo!). Team Four Star has gone on the record *multiple times* that they canonically have two separate DBZ:A Canons, one that is only the main series and the other that is only the movies. All the stuff that happen in all of the movies happen in the same universe, but that universe is separate from all of the regular DBZ:A episodes. As a comparison, in regular Dragon Ball, there is the original manga canon, the anime canon that includes filler episodes, and each of the separate movies that have their own movie canons. Meanwhile DBZ:A has their "main canon" and then their "movie canon." I hope that makes sense b/c no matter what it always sounds crazy, lol.

@10:38 In the actual show the dragons are actually pretty cool with not fucking you over with the wish. I can even think of at least one time for each dragon where they did a little extra because they're nice.
The closest I can think of the dragon not accomplishing a wish the intended way was after they wished back everyone killed by frieze and their forces and that one village Vegeta killed stayed dead because he didn't count anymore
I love how just confidently wrong they can be about what is canon. It both amuses me and slightly peeves my pet for my love of both the actual show and the abridged. ... Buuut it's still funny, plus they're entertaining.
For the actual show they got it right now though. None of the movies are canon. The DBS movies are canon but not the DBZ movies. Battle of Gods and Revival of F used to be canon but then DBS retconned them when it did them again and the DBS version is now the canon one. So the rule of thumb is, DBS movies are canon, DBZ movies are not.
@@EskChan19 I agree, DBS movies are canon. I was mostly referring to the comments about the movies and specials thus far and claiming Icarus is canon. Even TFS makes a joke about Gohan getting a dragon for Christmas but due to it not being canon he wasn't allowed to keep it. Though I would say as far as abridged movie canon at least cooler is a thing if not his movies due to weird time placements the TFS crew themselves have mentioned. Maybe garlic junior for the one episode and wheelo as a passing joke by Bulma when mentioning all scientists know where other scientists labs are. Long story short TFS seems to pick and choose what is canon based on what fits with the jokes/story but it's not an "it's all canon to dbza" situation. I will admit I might be forgetting something here or there that may invalidate my argument in which case that's my bad. Edit: I forgot to add Bojack to the dbza canon movie villains.
Don't listen to commenters... except me... the movies aren't canon either way, whether or not they reference what happens or happened in the main series. It's not that complicated. Most of the movies are so bad they just fuck around with them.
The Garlic Jr. Movie was actually done first before they became Team 4-Star. I remember watching the prototype version. It wasn't as good but still not bad!
Yeah in DBZA the movie are explicitly non-canon. Watch TFS’s reaction to any of their movies and eventually one of them, that is, the creators, will bring it up. They even have a running gag where Icarus, the dragon, dies in every movie he’s in.
tbh, Dead Zone and any movie not explicitly shown to be a "movie" I consider canon to dbza outright. Dead Zone specifically only because it's an exception directly referenced by Garlic Jr. and uh, the only movie that both has and doesn't kill off Icarus.
The dragon is movies and anime filler only ✌ So he's only canon to the anime The movies themselves are neither canon to the show nor the normal DBZA episodes, they're "what if" scenarios (or made up by charas in-universe sometimes in DBZA)
The movies are in their own timeline where the events of the shows happen but they just happen differently. Also some movie can fit into canon no problem like Bojack and wraith of the dragon but they’re still not canon. They can be head canon because how much they don’t effect the story though 😂
The correct order of the movies : 01 dead zone 02 world's strongest 03 christmas tree of might 04 lord slug 05 reveng of cooler 06 revenge of cooler part 2 the reckoning the why boner with a vengeance. 07 android 13 08 broly You kinda mixed up idk how
yes the playlist your using has too be out of order, this movie was definitely supposed to be watched way before this and before the garlic jr episode, because in that episode we see pop kill him off, and also garlic junior references the end of this movie in that episode, so yeah idk what happened but this movie defiantly wasn't supposed to be this far into the series lol
Producer Nappa in Hollywood makes this fits perfectly as Killin's flashback story. That it happens to be told after Popo took care of Garlic Jr. is a nice way to remind people who that was. Maybe this should be one episode before? but we know it happened way back so if ya cut the ending phone call it does work then too before Raditz
The Movies are not canon in DBZA because the timelines just don't make sense. They still have references and call backs between them and sometimes in the series (like the bird named Toriyama from Cooler). The creators say they are their own mini canon... except Icarus dies in all of them, like Kenny from south park,.
Okay to explain it in detail, in Dragon Ball Z, the movies aren't Canon, up until Dragon Ball Super. At that point the showrunners or or the owners of the license or whatever. Decided to use the Super Dragon Balls to technically make all the movies Canon by putting them in alternative universes. By wishing them "back" with Android 17's wish, because the omni King had "erased" them beforehand making them quote "Non-Canon". So now technically the movies are Canon they're just taking place or took place in Alternatives universes. Yeah it makes no sense it's stupid, but they did it so they could make more something I don't fucking know.
They don't fit at all. DBZ movies aren't canon, neither is Garlic Jr arc. The only one canon is the one about Trunks but that's classified as special episode (Like Bardock) and not as movie
Yep. All DBZ movies except for Battle of Gods and Revival of F have some kind of reason why they can't work, like Cooler beeing post-Namek but Goku can't freely use SSJ yet, Slug being Pre-Namek, but both Goku and Piccolo are alive which doesn't happen since Goku died to Piccolos Special Beam Cannon against Radditz and then only got revived to fight Vegeta where Piccolo was already dead, or in Broly which would have to take place during the time they wait for the Cell games but Goku and Gohan don't have their mastered super saiyan form. Every movie has a detail to it that makes it impossible to fit into the canon timeline. Except as I said Battle of Gods and Revival of F. Which were considered canon until DBS retconned and redid them.
The movies are there own cannon and each take place at different point in time like this takes place around raditz and cooler takes place after the frieza fight even tho they contradic certain aspects of the actual story
There's still some reasons why it won't fit in the timeline (not really privy on them tbh) but yeah this is supposed to take place before Raditz even shows up
It kind of does have some monkey paw to it. Your wish has to be specific. Take garlic, Jr. for example. He wishes to be immortal so great his power level is still trash. A better wish would be "I wish to be the strongest there is." That way, he can beat everyone and get the dragon balls again, then wish to be immortal. There's also other consequences like the big joke with bulma and wishing to be 5 years younger periodically to match her husband's and gokus aging rate. Well he consequence is she's not just wishing to look and feel young she's forever young. They kind of make sly mentions to this by having future trunks, world bulma be so much smarter and wiser. You see this by trunks, bumla, making better inventions, including the time machine. It may be hard for some to understand, but asking consistently to be that age also means that her mind stays trapped at that age she's requesting.

"Was that real?!" "I don't think so..." No, it's real. Gohan does piss on Krillin in the original movie.
This movie happens before everything you have seen. 1 way to tell the place of each movie relative to timeline is based on Gohan's outfits
Regarding “there’s no repercussions to wishes,” depends on what you think is canon. In GT, every wish built up negative energy in the dragonballs which would usually dissipate over time between wishes. Bulma’s radar made it easy enough to find them that the energy built up until they corrupted.
The actual First DBZ Movie, that has a pretty somewhat believable placement between DB and DBZ.
Yeah, the King in Ox-King isn't part of his name, it's his title. He's a literal king. He has a kingdom.
He's also pretty strong, being one of Master Roshi's students.
"Vegeta survived" "Should've never been a sentence."
Even in their commentary videos they had said that their abridged movies take place in their own universe that's why there is no Krillin owned counter
HFIL stands for home for infinite losers
15:00 Had me in effing stitches! :D
"Oh, come on, guys! I can't pull swords out of MY body!"
"Stand still and you will!"
How have I missed this? I probably skipped this abridged movie or forgot. Likely the latter.
Yeah Krillin getting pissed on by Gohan was not edited in and was actually in the real movie XD
None of the movies are canon with regards to the main series. Thus why there is no owned count for Krillan.
@@self-proclaimedanimator Yeah but a completely different Broly who (thank god) has pretty much none of the traits of the really really stupid DBZ Broly.
“Don’t question my fuckin methods, Fk it I’m takin your dad” 😂😂😂😂😂😂
The movies exist in their own bubble. So there is the normal canon, and a movie-canon
23:00 it was placed here because you guys just got introduced to the concept of Producer Nappa.
6:58 Gohan eating that apple whole is irrefutable proof he is Goku's kid!
"Let's hope that's a leak." Yes, but not the kind you meant.
The best way to look at it is, the movies are their own timeline, and the show is the main timeline.
All the movies that TFS do have the theme of Piccolo looking for a house.
The animation for this movie goes so hard
The only reason I see this movie being placed in android saga in the playlist is because of the wrist joke
The movies are NOT canon, (hence no Krillin owned counter). Don't take them too seriously. Forget what these people be saying.
This movie takes place earliest in the series. Goku still uses Nimbus and doesn’t even know the Kaioh Ken at this point.
The dragon is movies and anime filler only ✌ So he's only canon to the anime
The movies themselves are neither canon to the show nor the normal DBZA episodes, they're "what if" scenarios (or made up by charas in-universe sometimes in DBZA)
Oh DBZA movies are their own canon, separate from DBZA main canon.
Some of the later movies, are peak DBZA.
The movies are in their own timeline where the events of the shows happen but they just happen differently. Also some movie can fit into canon no problem like Bojack and wraith of the dragon but they’re still not canon. They can be head canon because how much they don’t effect the story though 😂
The correct order of the movies :
01 dead zone
02 world's strongest
03 christmas tree of might
04 lord slug
05 reveng of cooler
06 revenge of cooler part 2 the reckoning the why boner with a vengeance.
07 android 13
08 broly
You kinda mixed up idk how
Because they're going by release order not chronological order
Ya veo
yes the playlist your using has too be out of order, this movie was definitely supposed to be watched way before this and before the garlic jr episode, because in that episode we see pop kill him off, and also garlic junior references the end of this movie in that episode, so yeah idk what happened but this movie defiantly wasn't supposed to be this far into the series lol
Yeah the Gohan pissing scene is real
oh they explain why we dont see Icarus anymore in one of the movies...... XD and this movie originally takes place before the Saiyan Saga in DBZ
Yeah, the movie should have been placed before the Garlic Jr. episode ... so the episode makes a little bit more sense xD
These movies aren't Canon but they tried to place these in the time-line better. All movies are canon together but not for the series itself
Although there are references to some of them in the main show... But yeah, they probably don't fully fit in the canon.
They don't fit at all. DBZ movies aren't canon, neither is Garlic Jr arc. The only one canon is the one about Trunks but that's classified as special episode (Like Bardock) and not as movie
@@diocavallo8736 i meant the tfs versions
Deadzone is before Raditz showed up.
This movie would fit in pre-Raditz if it wasn't for Krillin knowing about Gohan.
I love the fact that they are completely oblivious to the fact that Goku ATE that dragon 😂
The movies are there own cannon and each take place at different point in time like this takes place around raditz and cooler takes place after the frieza fight even tho they contradic certain aspects of the actual story
There's still some reasons why it won't fit in the timeline (not really privy on them tbh) but yeah this is supposed to take place before Raditz even shows up
None of Goku's friends knew about Gohan until just a few minutes before Raditz showed up, so there's nowhere it could go.
Yes, it was real. And the apple was like getting drunk
the Dickfast is a mix of dinner and breakfast.. goku has mix all of the 3 big meals of a day all movie long
17:10 always gets me. Lol😂
This is like the first movie before the Saiyans arrive. It's Dead Zone, then Tree of Might. Team Four Star fucked up the order of their releases.
Bottom right guy got my favorite joke
Oh god your fathers goku
The movies are in their own timeline.
When will you guys react to the other Garlick JR movie?
Look, I know I haven't covered all of DBZA, but I'm certain that *this* 5:41-5:51 is my favorite moment in the whole show XD
