My Racimir is addicted to picking sticks. He's on year 20 and a rich CEO responsible for almost 200 villagers, but the first day of every season he runs around his settlement picking sticks and cleaning up peoples yards. :)
@@OhnoCoho I'm sure he is muttering something about the young people sitting on benches watching him work. I'm sure his saying something about when he was young and how hard he had to work.
27:33 Yes, Ohno, the mechanic has changed! Now once you cut a tree into pieces, the sticks and feathers go automatically into your inventory, so you don't have to worry about looking that stuff on the ground. Greetings from Mexico!
Make sure you build the resource storage and the food storage before you get ppl for your village... The feathers are auto collected now :) And something I just found out about... you can change the way your house is set up inside by changing the place the front door is. When you place the building outline down, go to the door opening and hit E to get options.. change the door to a window or wall and you will be able to place a new door site anywhere you want to put it :) One more thing.. when you go to upgrade your houses or businesses, you do not need to destroy anything anymore. Just put the new one on top of the old one and the old one will disappear and the new frame will be sitting there. LOL hope you understood that  Thanks for the fun day Ohno :)
Yeah, good point about the resource and food storage. I've taken care of one but still need to do the other :) Indeed! I've heard about the interior rearranging when you move the door now! That is so cool :) The ability to upgrade buildings in place will be so much more convenient too. So many nice changes :) Thank you Karrane!
It's very old, but as long as you put food, water and either firewood, logs or sticks in the chest in the house your villagers lives in, it's fine. This is something that is easy if you have just 1 or 2 houses (your house is only needed if you have a wife), but almost impossible when you have many houses as distribution would be a nightmare and take forever. So build 2 houses. You live in one, invite your future wife, after you marry her you can invite a couple in the other house. 2 houses is managable. But I would definatly get the food storage and the resource storage up before I expand with a third house.
I don’t know if you come back through these older videos for comments or not but, for gathering sticks the best place I’ve found for them is to the west of gostovia with the sticks in bunches (not the ones on the ground) there is a lot of spawn locations there, I brought home a pretty full inventory of over 500 sticks on my last trip which should last a little while with my smithy working away 😁. Enjoying the series so far, I’ll be catching up soon enough, quite a few days worth of videos to get through though which is nice to see. Greetings from the UK 😁
I do indeed see old comments :) Hmm... I wonder if that is on purpose regarding the sticks near Gostovia? Perhaps intended as help on day one? Interesting! Thank you and I hope you continue to enjoy the series!
@@OhnoCoho Very possible that it is on-purpose, same as the reeds just north of gostovia probably to teach the new player and make sure they don’t miss out on the reeds then suffer for it later searching the whole map while freezing to death in winter 😂 I have to say, I did neglect my health bar a few times in the first 2 winters while out hunting without a torch 😅 I only just recently learned that the broadleafs are very useful 😂 same as dandelions I seem to be hauling them everywhere with me now, now that I have the donkey, maybe it isn’t the fastest but it’s much faster then being over encumbered walking back from the cave near the ranica’s 😂
There is just something very satisfying about building, or watching someone build, a settlement in this game. I wish the game gave you more to do with the settlement once built, but I think this game has the best settlement building of any game I've played.
@@OhnoCoho only just started to watch this. But it was making me laugh cz you could see you was getting feathers in top left. Im on esp 10 now. Love ur series. Helping me through my first walk through of the game
I think the fertilizer issue is that it's not counting the fertilizer you already had on the ground by your house that you picked up, only what your bought after the quest started.
Wow... I have a lot of catching up to do... Let's get to it then hahaha. Love your videos, your play style and the way you are constantly laughing about stuff, it's just so much fun to watch you have so much fun!!
Great progress today. Lots of work gathering and building, but soon the workload can be shared once you recruit some villagers 👍 Really enjoying this game so far, great video OC!
Oh yeah, I'm looking forward to getting some help from a few villagers. It does make management tasks go up but the benefit is still worth it :) Thank you!
Not sure if someone else told you but when you pick up qticks and Stones from the ground it goes way faster if you have a 2handed item in your hands (like a shovel or bow) u dont do the pickup animation that way and can just zoom around the forest, vacuüming everything up as fast as u can 😅 Also, u do not need a resource and food storage if you put the items in their chest in their house, for the early game i tend to put food, water and firewood in their houses so i can use the 2 building slots for the storages on something else, later on i add them so they are more automated and i dont need to fill their chests anymore (for the start u are really limited with buildings and i prefer having more buildings for extracting or hunting or production)
I do remember being told about having a 2 handed item in your hands when harvesting sticks and stones but that was quite some time ago and forgot ;) I can see the advantage of prioritizing extraction, hunting and production but in the end I don't really worry about going as fast as I can. Thank you Sammy!
I think this is the best stage of the game. You are settled, thinking about expansion, ready to recruit, thinking about required skill set, the “thrill” of getting new villagers, matching them with partners, or not, thinking about your village layout etc. I am interested to see how you shape and develop your village, and if you stay where you are! I usually do, but then I also have second and third mini villages dotted about.
Once I pick a spot then I tend to try to make it work so I will probably keep my main location in the current place. That said, in my first season I had a mini village up at the mine so the mining family had a place to stay. I'll probably end up doing that as well :) Thank you Gavin!
I'm enjoying the different approach you're taking with this play through. Eager to see how it goes. FYI, it is called the 'Memorial Tree.' Interesting story; the devs honored a particular fan with it.
No video glitches for me - I'm running a MSI GeForce 2060 RTX Nvidia card, on the Ultra graphics settings. Loving the series - interesting to me that there are elements of my run through that are going different - not the quests, but the loot and random things around in the world.
Yep, I do think it is an AMD issue... oh well, it was what I could get and has been pretty awesome other than this one case :) My understanding is that the loot and some of the loot spots are somewhat random. In other words, there *could* be stuff in a certain place but not necessarily :)
I started to play again yesterday. You might want to look in the mine. Both of them seem to have the same ore. I think there is something you have to do to get a different ore. By the way, If you are straight across the river from the creek to the mine. Then head up past the cleared field in the trees. You might find an empty camp. It may or may not have nice things there. I don't know if the camps show up in different spots at random. I have found five now, never found a bandit, but it might be too early in-game for them to be there. I decided to make my town in the same place again :D. One of my villagers has diplomacy as her level 3 and gathering is a level 3. She said she was only using this valley as a stepping stone on her way to greatness. She works my well. The one thing I feel bad about is I have two female villagers and one male. He never sleeps. The people do count toward quest at least. I spent 10 hours playing yesterday. I did a lot. I also made the season 5 days each. thinking I would change back after the first year. But once the changes are made that play through they are set. I checked with a new game and I could change things for it as well. Like an update that but you can play any version. you will need a knife a bow and arrows for the hunting lodge to work and assign the work in the management menu of the building. Feathers go automatically into your inventory now when you make the tree into logs. the little trees that turn into sticks, give you 3 to your survival and .3 to the building of the hunting tech skill. The sticks on the ground give the same. The hunting tech skill brings up your ability to make better bows and arrows. An animal kill is worth .3 also to the tech. I have a cook and she is making soup. I can tell because she is using the bowls. But I have not seen one stew in the food storage. I think the villagers are eating them first and she is only making enough each day for them. I am going to have to check that tomorrow. Somehow boost the total made when I get more carrots. The bushes you can not make into sticks might be nightshade. Hint: what is the new thing you see in gostovia? Why is it right in the middle?
