    Thank you, I didn't think that 6013 could be used for vertical up. I had been using low amperage settings . A big thumbs up.

    • @tandemwings4733
      @tandemwings4733 3 года назад +3

      Of course 6012 & 6013 can be used vertical up. UP - is the ONLY way to weld vertical. Down is only any good for cosmetics. With the exception of pipeliners of course, and that's an entirely different discussion.

      @@tandemwings4733 I'm glad you said that. Uphill for 3F position is the norm...and for any vertical. Not really is "secret trick of the trade" lol.

    Just know that this is a "Cover Pass" technique and not meant for the "Root Pass" especially on a fillet. You need to use the Whip N' Pause, Inverted "T", Inverted "V" or Triangle rod manipulation to get any kind of root fusion since E6013 has low penetration characteristics.
    The "U", "W", or "Z" weaves are fine for uphill covers and stringers work equally well with a circle motion. Any other position requires you to stay on the leading edge of the puddle to keep the slag at bay.
    Like most stainless steel electrodes, E6013 requires some type of weave motion with a slightly longer arc length to blow the heavy slag back to make the puddle visible. The increased arc force also helps prevent wormholes too. Remember, E6013 is a slow deposition electrode hence you need to spend more time on the toes and go a little slower than E7018 😉

    I always understood that you should go low on amps when welding vertical up because the heat rises ahead of where you're welding. But 150 is nothing like low on amps. And it still looks really nice!

    You need to go up to get root penetration and then across as you are doing but with longer pauses at each side to avoid the slight undercut you are getting. If you break that weld, you will find low root penetration with some slag inclusion pockets

    the rule for finding the setting is (diameter of the electrode -1)x50 for example 2,5-1 equal 1,5
    1,5x50= 75A
    then you should add 20% in downhill and internal corners, and minus 20% in external corners or uphill.
    It's not 100% accurate but it gives an idea of where to start

    Im new to welding and have a hard time figuring out the puddle distance ive been told roughly 1/16 or 1/32 of an inch away but thats about it. Is there more to it than that or do you also have to do additional steps to keep your puddle flat. (Mine rise like a mountain and finish like a bb size. ) any criticism or help is appreciated

      Came here to comment section, cause i saw the arc was low. And wantes to see who else thinks the same.
      That is 10mm steel plate, he is going up with about 90-110 max.
      6013 3.2 is burning with big arc already with 125amps...

    • @tandemwings4733
      @tandemwings4733 3 года назад +2

      @@robylv5720 I agree with the amps figures you mention. Welding machines are not consistent when it comes to indicating amp settings. If I ran 3.25's on 150 amps, I would be dealing with some serious edge undercutting. I run 3.25 - 6013 at around 115 amps for vertical up, using a Fronius Transpocket 1500.

    • @Ютубцензура
      @Ютубцензура Год назад +1

      От аппарата, зависит тоже многое.
      На производстве, сжёг тысячи электродов уони 13-55, трансформатор ВДМ 1200, производства 70-х годов прошлого века.
      Пол тонны ржавого железа и пыли, металл, идеально сваривает тройкой, при 60 А на баластнике
      Попробуй на любом бытовом инверторе поставить ток 60 ампер, электроды уони, будут тупо залипать.
      Дома, есть 3 фазы, поэтому ещё лет десять назад купил трехфазный аппарат EWM 300, производства Германии
      Он, промышленного класса, работает идеально с любыми типами электродов.
      Но стоит довольно дорого.
      Все хорошие источники сварочного тока, стоят прилично.
