Make sure you pay your toll. I'm from there, a literal stone's throw from the tunnel. Visiting last year, after having moved away many years ago, I went throught the tunnel and found all the booths on the north side gone. You had to pay online within 24 hours. I genuinely completely forgot, until a couple of days later when I phoned them up. The lady on the phone told me I now had to pay 35 quid, rather than the 3 quid or so originally. But she couldn't deal with the payment, and she could either transfer me to another agent, or send me the bill in an invoice to my home address in Germany. I had travelled to the UK in my own car. I preferred to sort it out at home rather than giving my details over the phone. What she failed to tell me, was that by that time, the fine in the post was now closer to a hundred quid. She didn't mention that on the phone, the sly robdog. Make sure you pay your toll....

They did this by design so they can abuse people that forget and to rob the elderly. It both makes traffic flow faster but at the same time its a malicious way to get more money from the consumer. I question why this was allowed? Where is consumer law? Where is the cash payment option at a booth? I have not used it since, I use the A1 and with all the added exhaust fumes.

I worked on the maintenance teams at the beginning of the 80's and have been all over the various components including the pedestrian tunnel.

You pay to go under the Tyne but nothing to go over any of the Tyne Bridges

You do “technically” now if going into Newcastle and have a very old car, van or lorry with the clean air tax. I bet they extend that to all cars in the future. Also the “old” Redheugh bridge used to have a toll on it, the toll house is still there today.

Not to worry it has since been changed :) a much quicker faster and new intro will be in the next video.

Two and a half minutes wasted on an intro that had nothing to do with the tunnels, then 7 minutes of a monotone voice

@redkevful thanks for the input. I aim to improve my speaking skills the more I do this.
