I lost my 12 year old teacup long hair chihuahua from CHF, she initially was diagnosed with a bad heart murmur. I miss her terribly, thankfully still have her mother, who is 15. My heart goes out to those battling this, or lost their baby. It's so heartbreaking.

My 13 year old beloved cross breed dog Jimmy died on December 30 2020. His heart murmur diagnosed 4 years ago, started medication Cardisure and Frusemide in 2019. Also on medication for seizures Phenomav since 8 years. He developed cough 4, 5 months ago prior to his passing was put on Nuelin tablets too. On that day after dinner around 5pm he started coughing but normally his cough stops after a while. But that day he coughed continuously and when the cough stopped started panting heavily. So I took him to the emergency hospital around 8.30pm. the vet immediately took him to the treatment room and gave him a needle on the report said mild sedation to calm him but he had seizure and his heart stopped then she performed CPR and he came back to live but was struggling to breath the vet said he needed oxygen but to give the mask need to sedate him again but there was a risk he might get heart attack again and die. So put him in an oxygen box first but he was suffocating in that box. then she took him out and gave a second needle to sedate him his heart stopped and she couldn't revive him. My precious boy died on the table. It has been more than 3 months and I am still grieving with guilt with so many unanswered questions. Like if I had taken him immediately to the regular vet would he have survived? The emergency vet did everything correct to save his life. In his medical report the vet said cause of death Dyspnea. The images of him suffering in that oxygen cage and his tiny dead body on the table still haunting me. Please help.

This sounds very similar what happened to my 12 year and 5 month old Pomeranian! One dat I got home and his two front legs spread open and he fell face first to the floor. He then tried to get back up and fell on his side while he chocked on his own blood. I picked him up and rushed him to the vet! As I was getting close to the vet he was starting to come back. But the vet took him in and sedated him and his gums went back to pale. They recommended hospitalizing him overnight with oxygen but the next day he was still panting heavily and gums still pale! The vet said his medications weren’t responding anymore so I had to put him down 😭😞😞😢😢 idk if what the vet did was right or if what I did was right! I’m the same as you living with guilt and grief this happened 12 days ago I miss my buddy 😞

How is your dog doing??? I am going through the same they put my dog on three meds two weeks ago. He's a 14 (15 in four months) Maltese and was diagnosed with CHF and gallstones. The vet says it's best to put him down, but he seems normal (still eats, barks, and plays ) other than his breathing hard sometimes and gallstones. The vet says without the meds he would have passed within a week. I don't know what to do. I love him so much but I don't want to be selfish and watch him suffer get and worse.
