Finally a painter who sprays the top edge of doors and windows. It was so refreshing seeing John do that. It drives me nuts when painters skip those areas and I always caulk them in and paint them. Those top edges are dust collectors and a lot easier for the homeowner to wipe off while cleaning if they have a nice coat of semi gloss paint on them. A raw wood or MDF edge...not so much.

Question. I always mask off around the trim to prevent the oil based paint from flashing or building up on the wall. I never have done what you have done in this video but would definitely like to try it next time to save money and time. Also I only ever spray oil based paint on woodwork since i primarily do remodels. The wall paint is usually a semi-gloss with flat on the ceiling. I always just have a fear of flashing on ceilings. I only use quality paint as well. I love shooting pigmented laquers but in a lot of my cases the designer prefers oil based so I can't get away with shooting both. I shoot the trim then install it with touch behind. Can't touch up laquers with a brush of course. Love your videos they are awesome. You know your stuff. Do you ever run into this similar situation and if so do you mask? Do you think it will flash? It has to be perfect too because the homes i do are higher end and extremely particular about every little detail.

For interior repaints, do you always spray trim first? Also, is it harder to cover the semigloss paint with wall paint if you spray first and don't mask?
If your spraying your trim and doors I find it’s best to do it before painting the walls. The semigloss or satin will make it easier to cut in a straight line to the edge. Another option if your trim paint is cured enough to tape is to tape the trim with 2” blue scotch tape or better is the frog tape and mini roll the wall edge to trim. Yes it may take 3 coats for full coverage depending on paint/colour/thickness etc. you can use clear caulk on the wall edge of the tape to ensure no bleeding but wipe excess off tape and pull the tape while final coat is still soft.

I think you will find you have less of a cloudy finish this way.
Great video! If we have a painter grade cream color trim (likely oil based) and want to switch to a water based white trim paint color, would you recommend priming first? Want to make sure it doesn’t yellow over time.
I would like to sincerely apologize for the rude comment as my cousin and myself shared this RUclips account recently. I have since changed my password and would like to say how great your video was as this was the first time I watched it! Keep up the great work your energy is inspriring!! I would definitely like to get one of your paint life shirts!!
Thanks
Recovery time for myself as well! That's why I wanted to apologize for the ignorant comment that was sent by my cousin who I was sharing my RUclips account with until I discovered the comment my email. Thumbs up man!
I always check for adhesion, because paint definitely doesn’t stick to all surfaces.Ive found that emerald from Sherwin-Williams sticks very well to glossy surfaces without sanding or deglossing, but probably best to do anyways.
Thanks for sharing 🤙
Another great video!
they are all new tips the I bought when I bought the sprayer !
Now I want that sprayer 😂great work!
Great video. Thank you.
me and your boy have very similar styles when it comes to spraying I wish I could find someone that is decent at spraying but this is my 6th year owning my own company and have yet to find a good spray man but hell I don't mind doing it
Hey, great video. I like the caulking around the frog tape tip! What type caulk do you use. How do you (I) avoid the caulk from setting up before you can get the tape off or does it matter? I'll be doing this on pre primed mdf soon any other technical advice for this novice?
Nice work👌🏼 you can tell that your helper gets a little bit nervous when he was spraying the trim
jose galvan I think he showed no signs of nervousness until that built-in kicked his butt.
solo is the bomb painted some doors with it loved it
Amber Randall hey, saw your comment about using Solo paint. Did you spray or roll it? What was your reasoning for using Solo over Proclassic?
Great video, helps when you known what you're doing haha....
Thanks for sharing your knowledge ,it's very well appreciate it.
Thank you for sharing and watching🤙
