- A rather rare version of Bachmann's overland limited 4-8-4. Not only is this the early tooling type that used the shell from their Santa Fe 4-8-4, but this unit features the rather good plus drive. Enjoy the sights and sounds of this pseudo Early FEF 1 in action
I just got one of these recently and before it came in the mail, I watched this video multiple times, love your layout 🤓 subbed!
Oh very epic. Probably my favorite Bachmann northern
Thank you for posting this! I had one like this with the Overland Limited trainsets as a Christmas gift as a kid. I loved that engine. I think I painted it black (horribly) and put a Preiser engineer figure in it. I put many, many HO scale miles on running the 4x8 layout I had long ago.
Ah yes the Santa Fe 4-8-4 substituting as an FEF-1, a smooth runner compared to more recent DCC models. Great video!
At least it ain’t a New York Central Niagara that’s been lazily painted! Seriously, Bachmann needs to work out these prototypes.
@@daylightman8459 I just question why they just made a FEF. They will get a ton of sells
Very nice. Very, very nice.
This looks better then the new one, doesn't look just like a Niagara
It is a Niagara that has just been repainted without the smoke deflectors.
I have the newer one that got the chassis redesign, the newer ones no longer have split chassis and split axles thank god
Good show
Great runner. Does the 4-8-4 have can motor or pancake ?
Where did you find such a beauty? How expensive was it?
Been watching your videos for awhile, have 12+ Rivarossi's, so I'm partial to your collection. I did go back and look at a few of your layout videos, but I didn't catch the actual size. It appears wider than my 4 x 8, as your track layout has more options than I could fit. If I had to do it again (and I might, I started mine in 2017), I might opt for track on plywood vs. going on foam, since I'm more a "run the trains guy" vs a scenery artist anyway.
My layout is just barely larger, it’s a 6X8
@@gopernoperstrains3160 oh those 2 extra feet do make a difference! Keep up the videos! I've got to get back to working on mine, and the roster of loco's.
I really love this version of the overland limited ,sucks that bachmann changed the design for the modern sets
Got this for Christmas im using my chessie system GP40 to lead the train
I have the same it 806 it struggles freight trains on hills it kind suck.
Because it Bachman. Bachman model are known for being light and little to no grip. I recommend to find a order model that not Bachman. They are more powerful.
Are these more reliable than the normal split chassis locomotives?
In general yes the Bachmann plus chassis is more reliable than earlier pancake versions.
@@gopernoperstrains3160 but still not worth buying right
@@Texas_and_Pacific if you know how to properly maintain your equipment these are absolutely worth buying. If not then these aren’t for you
