Happened to me, the whole time i was asking the price, gave me no framework and then vacuum seal. Boom now you owe them because you vacuum seal it, it's suddenly used and you get pressured to buy it 😂

Seriously, I was just there and they were charging 1200tl in most shops at grand bazar. Hafiz mustafa was charging almost 1800tl or more. I ended up getting kg between 700-800tl if I’m not mistaken
I am Turkish I suggest to the people never shop from these shops at the bazars. They fooled me too once. I purchased pine nuts. I did not open the pack. They forced me to buy more somehow. When I came home and opened the pacakge, the pinenuts were not pinenuts. They gave us early harvested small peanuts. I thought, I forgot that, but next time, I will face the guys who did it.
These things when i travel to Turkey, i but from shops outside of Istanbul (Go to Izmit) and get them from shops that have the price posted on the items. I forgot the name of the shop but it's popular in Izmit. The Bazar in Istanbul is the worst place to shop

Funny thing is none of these guys are Turkish. They are mostly Syrians who work in that bazaar now since they speak Arabic and there are lots of Arab tourists in Istanbul these days.
I think that's how they run the business because when i was visiting Penang Malaysia, there's a turkey's sweet stall like this and the way they put all in fulfilling the bag just like that..even though i said i just wanted 100 gram... Kind of forcing you to buy more what you actually wanted.. It only when i said repeatedly that i don't have money than he gave up and reducing the weight
Im Turkish and this seller is for sure not an honest one but let me tell you what he sells is not that cheap normally even to us. He asked 800 lira which is around 22 dollars, if it was not a touristic place it wouldve been around 500 lira i guess. I dont like lokum at all btw, i dont know how it is so popular among to tourists that come here.

never buy anything from the shops such like this one. i.e. if you wanna buy baklava, then go to that city's most famous baklava shop which only sells baklava, not others. if you wanna eat kebab, don't eat it at touristic places. and do not forget that Turkey has 81 big cities (not a lie) and about 1000 districts (even except villages). everywhere has its own culture and goods. dont stick on only istanbul, antalya or kapadokya. also, dont hesisate to bother police depts, they have to do their job officialy, if you have any complain. Turkey is a safe country, if you are not an idiot. otherwise you gonna be free to get scammed. btw, turks are welcoming while other ethnicities are mostly greedy. if you hear any arabic/persian word somewhere in turkey, then it's time for you to go away.
