- With plans for the Wife and I's Las Vegas trip needing to be cancelled (due to the Mother in Law breaking her leg) I found a bargain cruise from Southampton to Barbados with P&O on their fantastic new ship...Arvia. I decided to take up the offer and travel solo as my Wife's limits on ship travel is the Isle of Wight ferry!!
Join me on this solo cruise as we travel from Southampton to Barbados via Gran Canaria, Tortola, St Kitts and Martinique.
Plenty of clips of the ship, restaurants and their menus and some of the varied entertainment onboard.
Part 1. Southampton to Gran Canaria. 4 nights and 3 full sea days.
Late to the party on this one! Claire would defo appreciate washing and ironing facilities onboard didnt realise they had that. Nice video mate👍
That was lovely, such a beautiful ship! Your cabin looked amazing as did all the food! Great job at filming as usual. Thank you. Joanna from Canada 🇨🇦
I love your travel vlogs! So excited to watch this now. 😃😃
I was on this cruise my very first cruise and on my own( I lost my wife 5 months earlier and wanted some time to just switch off hence why I chose a transatlantic crossing. Thouroughly enjoyed, met some very nice people who understood my position. I will definitely do this again and didn’t find it too rough although I won’t do an inside cabin . Food ! 6 out of 10 I did expect better
Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed it. Food was hit and miss and not of the standard of Royal Carribean's Anthem of tbe Seas.
Great vlog!
Looking forward to the rest of your adventure Matt.
I didn't envy you on the storm days though 🤮
Always nice to see a friendly face on RUclips x
Thanks Claire...it was pretty rough but did it without any pills as it doesn't seem to affect me...apart from.some very weird Poseidon Adventure dreams 🤣
Looking forward to your new series starting tonight!
Hi again, great video 👍
We've just subbed and we're catching up on some of your older videos too.
The blackout cake gets a 10 from grumps! 🙌🏼. Food and drink all looked top notch, I bet having a decent drinks package can be quite dangerous - got my first ever cruise in April and I can already feel the hangovers. Did you play any slots in the casino? 👀
Hi Kev, yeah played a few nights, they were pretty tight though. Still some guy won the Major on Huff and More Puff at over £2.5k on a £5 bet!
I put on 11lb on this cruise 😳
I enjoyed the drinks package but probably wouldn't bother again as drinks ate reasonably prices on P&O and a couple of "hangover days" I didn't drink much lol! I will do a summary video of costs and stuff at the end. Series will probably be about 3 parts.
@@GrumpyDad Look forward to it! Yeah I’ve read/seen that the % are much lower on cruises than on land as they can do pretty much what they want, but still great to hear people can win decent amounts
Takes me back, I actually got sea sick on the Sunday had to spend the day in bed
We were on the same cruise, virtually under the gangway on deck 5.
I was grateful that we were on such a large ship while crossing Biscay, done it a few times on ferries and it wasn't pleasant!
How did you find the app? We thought it was quite erratic.
You were probably just down the corridor!
Biscay was choppy (roller coaster feeling that Saturday night!) But I was fine as don't suffer from travel sickensss (worked in travel and transport for 40 years!)
The app was fine for me, my biggest issue was the noise from the state of the art stabiliser which was midship and very audible on Deck 5. It groaned all though the rougher seas, sounded like a Orca! Kept me awake so many nights!
Yes we were 8 cabins down from you, also "upgraded" from deck 11!
Looks a bit soulless
It's like a Airport departures in places. It's nice but they have missed making it something special.
