【Synopsis】The story tells the legend of the QingLuan mirror and Lican sword, which is said to be able to reunite the country when possessed by the owner. These items were once formerly owned by the Dragon Sect and are now lost. Before the demise of the Dragon Sect leader, the information regarding the location of these heirlooms, is handed down to the only remaining maiden: Yuan Qiao Suo. She is told by her master that she is not to give away the location to anyone as it could end up in the wrong hands and bring about chaos.
Upon the death of her master, she goes in search of the lost mirror and sword, under the disguise of the high official from Northern Zhou Court Si Kong's wife's niece. During her journey, she comes across the Prince Gao Chang Gong (a.k.a Prince of Orchid Hills) and Yu Wen Yong. Her romance blooms with both and she must choose who to help and who to love.

Can't believe the writers would end this great drama with an ending that makes no sense. Disappointed that there could have been a better ending. Sad!
I totally agree. Even if fourth brother loved her. it was Yong who did most for her. when she got shot first yime by channgong's mother, he didn't jump after her. but Yong did. between a man who needs a mask and one who want to trade his kingdom for a woman that is worth it, Yong is always best. If she has a conscious, Yong and his emperor brother did most for her. Makes no sense this kind of ending. she was one lucky woman if historical records are right. Anyway, this was unfair to the one who I see as the hero; emperor og Zhou. What a BAD ending!

The ending seems really confused. Lian still had the scar on her ear at the end. Quinso didn't have the scar. Lian NEVER left the place she was waiting for Changong for 3 years to come back.. So is very confusing. Lian at the end is not Quinso.

The ending made no real sense to me. Yong ended up alone when I felt he deserved to stay with her since he was willing to give up anything and everything. She felt so guilty over Changgon that she left him and went to find Changgons mother. Next thing you know we see Yong as always alone except it is said he died of illness after a war with the Turks yet rumor has it he ran into a beautiful woman accompanying a mad woman and just pretended to be ill??? Then we see Changgon goes back to where she grew up herding horses and there she is with the scar (a previous episode showed that the scar was removed by his mother after she rescued her to use her as a spy) thus making him think there were two women who looked alike when it was clear that she had all of the memories of their time together etc... It does not show us that he is dreaming and it never shows Yong finding her etc... Both her and Changgon were rescued by others so they ended up alive but neither of them went with the ones that rescued them. Just made no sense to me except that the storyteller must have been focused on the two of them when they were young and in love but cruelly torn apart due to Changgons mother. Thus I am assuming the story is about how they came back together in spite of things not making sense according to previous episodes. Gee, if they were going to show this ending it seems they should have also showed Yong end up finding her with the crazy woman and also living happy ever after. Just saying..... Then again I was so partial to the Yong character. Lol, I never like sad endings anyway and she did not wind up with my favorite guy so it wasn't good for me.

N binggung Krn dia maunya sicewe bersama raja Zhao.Ini sebenarnya mengisahkan kisah si jenderal Langling yg kisah nyata dia dicurigai raja, akan mengambil tahtanya. Kasihan kerajaan tidak bertahan lama. Kayaknya sekarang aku mengerti perasaan reinkarnasi aku yg dulu si gadiss kuil.
This is a beautiful ending. Yong was destined to be king, like a king who had to sacrifice a lot for his country... he couldn't just think about one woman. Lian also realized that he couldn't be selfish in having Yong just for himself. This is a win for all. Yong became king with extraordinary power. Lian lives calmly and happily with people from her past, who only love her, and have no burden of responsibility to others. Live freely and happily without war, jealousy and other worldly things.Enchanting ending.
I rather have seen a happy ending with the Yuen’s Yong and Qongsuo. They were a better couple and he loved her better.

this was not the ending of this story, the lanling king die 4 year ago how can he still be alive in the grave? if the lanling king was with qingsuo? why there were no rumorns? yuwen yong ues illness as an excuse to escape with qingsuo both live togather forever with the mad wonmen. the writer think if he end it this way it will make sence but the explaination at the end of the story was all clear for us to understand.

Crazy ending. I’m glad at least one couple is together forever. Now if only Yong’s mysterious friend can bring a reunion for them. I’m an optimist and hate sad endings.

I reject sad endings and my Fav CDrama (Costume) is less dramatic compared to this one. It's: "New Life Begins". A Fictional one but more centered into Life Lessons.
I think this drama is my favorite of everything--writing, acting, costumes were incredible, and if one counts these shows by the tissues used this is tops! Thank you for sharing this.

This end it's a disaster! She didn't have a definite felling for the two of them. She messed up the lives of Changgong and Yong. She staying with Yong for a while and, then decided she wanted live with Changgong. Confused!😢

I think the writer is confused how to end the story so he/she just make a vague ending for yong and the possibility of 2 girls (Lian and Qingshuo). If there are two girls, the story line just doesn't add-up to qingshuo's journey from beginning to end. :(

That's why the screenplay brings us a hopefull, beautiful yet sad scene, the best ending of the drama! Actually, a metaphor! Min 51:55/ep 47- we can see the embrace/ their reflection in the water, but where are they (CG/ML)?! Because, they are not on the bridge ... 🍂 As for Wen Yong, despite the historical fact regarding his death, they suggest a new beginning together with Qing Suo, leaving behind the throne for love. That's my opinion 🍂 I also believe that, of course, Qing Suo/ Mu Lian is the same person. 🖤

Interesting that the story gives you 2 endings........... one for those who prefer Yong and one for those who prefer Chongong. If they intended to do alternate endings they should have said so .............. otherwise this ending makes absolutely no sense at all
This ending was some what confusing and lacked the feel good factor. On reflection I see that I was more concerned with having Yong's love and hard work being rewarded with the women he loved against the fact that even though she did end up having feeling for him she stayed faithful to her first 😂
I can see no one understands the ending. Changgong is dead. He was not rescued from his grave,, this was part of is afterlife he died and is that he thought he was rescued, he knows that this is a dream, do you notice he does not mention his mother. During the show he always mentions his mother, however when he woke up from his death he never mentioned his mom. This was his heaven where he met Lian the way he remembered her. So he did die. And yong found quingsuo with the old lady who was her master and pretended to die of illness to live with her.
I have read the real story, explanation at the end was the real story ending, after the story ended the director think the lanling king deserves her, but is not the princess have never been the princess, whatch the end of the story and listen to the explanation carefully

Es el primer drama que veo qué me daba igual con quién de los dos se quedara ya que los dos la amaban profundamente y vivió su historia de amor con cada uno de forma diferente pero justa, aunque me gusto mucho con quien se quedó, con su primer amor y no tenía que compartirlo con otras mujeres mientras que con el emperador si y es lo que no quería ella, aunque es un final un poco confuso se puede entender de muchas maneras.
No conocía a ese Actor Andy Chen pero quedé fascinada por sus rasgos que se destacan de entre tantos Actores Chinos. Mi Actor Chino Fav es Wu Lei/Leo Wu pero en el caso de él también valoro su Profesionalidad.
En este Drama yo quería que se quedara con éste aunque concuerdo en que el Final es confuso! Sigo leyendo Comentarios para ver si se aclara algo de todo ésto.

He is forced to drink poisoned wine by order of the emperor. He is 32 years old when he dies and is the most handsome Prince in Chinese history. To hide his beauty, he wore a mask in battle. Yuwen Yong united Zhu and Qui. He dies 4 years after Gao Changgong. He is 35 years old, when he dies.

This ending is really bullshit!! !I could have understood that Qingsuo chooses to leave the emperor she loved because she couldn't forget her childhood love. But no, it was too simple. Then, 10 minutes before the end, the authors give us an abracadabra story with 2 different women Lian and Qingsuo !!!! Who was Qingsuo then??? Maybe it's a dream of Changgong but anyway, it's horribly done. Chinese series are often good at giving us silly endings. I give a 5/10.

I was captivated by this type of movie but when I saw the ending, it's a sad story because the emperor's love for the girl is wasted.

Oh, I understand now. Just the dream at the end of the shadow in the water has the heroine standing alone.
Changgon asked Yong to swear he would only love her in that one lifetime. Yong bled for that oath and swore on the divine. He didn't know Lian but knew Quingsuo. She became different people (like 2 living in the same body). She feels the death of Changgon as the firefly crosses her path *That inner part of who she really is reminds her that it is still there. At the end, it is like we are seeing different timelines. Yong finds Quinsuo living with Changgon's mother. He dies of an illness. We could presume that maybe years pass and that Quingsuo dies too. Changgon is reborn from the grave symbolically. He then meets Lian in his next life because Quingsuo only existed as a result of memory loss. The story comes full circle. Lian became who she always was and she has been preparing her wedding dress --As if Quingsuo never was.
What happened to the king she married he loved her so much. There was no ending like this before. She was not found till the king passed away

Yes The author of this story is pro the king, so it's not clear. N is confused because the creator writing wants the girl to be with the king of Zhao. This actually tells the story of the general Langling, whose true story is that he is suspected by the king of taking his throne. It's a shame the kingdom didn't last long. I think now I understand the feelings of my former reincarnation as a shrine maiden. Sebenarnya enak hidup gadis kuil ya 🤭🤭tapi komplain ya gak biasa sama penderitaan kalii ya 🤦🏻♀️🤣🤣🙏🏻ampun God 🙏🏻. I hate, hate, hate this ending. She was stupid to not go with the emperor. He did soooo much more for her ungrateful bod. Did I mention that I hate this lousy ending.
Well, that certainly was an ending all right... I haven't watched any Chinese dramas before, but I admit I wasn't expecting an overall tragedy. It felt like they wanted all the possible endings to somehow co-exist. He's dead; he's not really dead. They're together; no, the other couple is together. Maybe there were two girls, but we have to follow history, but we want all our viewers happy. And ultimately, it just feels like everyone is worse off by far than they were at the start. So many people dead, no one with their true loves, everyone heartbroken and alone and confused and miserable. Thankfully, we are allowed to use our imagination and make our own endings, which I shall do at once as this one is silly to me. Edited to add that I still really enjoyed the drama overall. The costumes were sumptuous, the music lovely, the actors and actresses did a great job, and I enjoyed wondering what would happen next. It also kept reminding me of a book I enjoy, so I am happy I watched it.
Well, that is one mess up ending. A good show all in all, too bad the ending was so ridiculous.

This is the first time I had really read the whole viewers comment after watching any movie drama. Majority of the viewers was disappointed about how the movie ended and respectively they have a right to express themselves but by just focussing on how disappointing the ending was (to which i had to watch episode 47 about three times to gross an understanding of what the writers was trying to convey to its viewers to which you will read later) truly is a disservice to the ACTORS. All the actors in this movie was SUPERB. The actress who played the character Qingsuo/Lian did an awesome job , uncertain sometimes, bold and courageous the other times and trusting, selfless not really understanding how devious and wicked some people's heart are to gain power and thus she was targeted by them and was use as a pawn. Zhang Hanyun acted her roles as Qingsuo/Lian wonderfully. Both characters she played had experienced that true to do anything for deep love. Most people today has never experienced such a love but blessed those that had. As for Peng Guanying this actor did a phenomenal great job. His role had so many different fascism to it. Not only that he had to win the heart of the woman he loved but he had to pretend to not love Qingsuo knowing the many danger that will befall her if he did not only from the jealous women that was surrounding Youweh Yong but the vicious power grabbing people surrounding her. Imagine loving someone immensely and pretending not to swallowing the facts that they are in love with another, while having to protect that person from unforeseen danger who is sometimes stubborn as well (as we all be at times) The love he had to hide not only from the one you love but from those who are around you., the fear of rejection from the person you love, being force to marry someone who you have never met just to keep peace, hurting the one you love and Don't forget losing someone you love. The love he had for his brother His Majesty the King ( The actor who by the way did a great job playing his character ) Peng Guanying character role had to display so many different emotions and expression in this movie i really don't think that most the viewers understands the depth an actor has to reach inside of themselves to play these roles. The actor who played the Langlin King was excellent. This character has never ever weavy from his love he had for Lian. Not once. This man never even pretended to love someone else even when his mother lied on Lian he still loved her. Changoa character role reminds us of our early youth when we are smart, rash, bullheaded and a little naive. This is our first love so most of us do be torn apart by those that are grown and who we respected whether it be our parents or guardian. But in all of this the Langlin King never ever stopped loving Lian/ Qingsuo . Now, i dont know if the writers forgot that they had projected from the beginning that both men wanted a peaceful quiet life with the woman they loved. As for the viewers don't forget it was Qingsuo who mocked Changoa , why shall she want just a fourth brother when she can have an Emperor'. It was Changoa mother who was greedy for power who want her son to rule the whole world. That was never Changoa desire. I agree with a viewer it seems like the writers had a disconnect in this movie but let us reflect on the historian keeper those in authority had a way of threatening them with losing their head and their family heads if they dont alter from real facts. So i think there was more than one reason the writers had such a lenghty scene in the historian library. The other was you can tell me after mouths of the Langlin King was in prison, the Emperor did not heard about this? Yes he had won the battle of Qi but if he had heard that why didnt he knew that Changoa had submitted himself to be imprison along with his for insubordination. Yet his mother was release and him poison. (Smiling) The writers did a great job because they had lift the viewers wondering about many things leaving the door open but one mistake was made, the writers was not looking at this movie through the eyes of most viewers, viewers dont like to feel their way through a movie or be left not understanding why or an unfinished thought. Plus most viewers looks at a movie straight forwarded and they have a sharp memory. The theme song told alot of the story but most of the viewers never noticed it. The reason why i watched episode 47 three times was to be sure listen to what Lian said three cyclones she waited and Changoa touched the scar understanding something at that point. The narrator said Youweh looke for Qingsuo for about four years. I always was saying why did they had Qingsuo looked younger than Lian. All the memory scenes with Lian she looked more mature older except for when they were children. The writers did not expect the viewers not to get the jest of this movie i think they wss hoping for a more positive response from the viewers that most didnt understand the difference. Some viewers said it was Changoa who died what about Lian? Was it both had experienced death? Or only Lian remember Changoa knows both Qingsuo and Lian who met at the place he had builded for her. Lian have only one memory . Yes i will rate this movie a 8. The writers did an excellent jobs. Very creative . The producers directors cast members staffs, camerawomen and cameraman, the war scenes and the sets was GREAT. I truly enjoyed this movie . I will LOVE to see more of these actors in other movies . I truly think the viewers really have to revisit watching this movie to have a better understanding. Peng Guanying great acting, Langlin king actor great i will check out your movies and the actress who played Qingsuo /Lian the same. Thank you all for doing a great job. Audit team great job. 4/30/2024 "Thank You very much" for explaining your opinion about this movie. This is the second time I watched it. Yes, I too am a movie lover & I spend most of my days binge watching Asian K & C Drama Movies. They're Outstandingly very nice to watch especially Romance & Custom period movies. I've been watching them for years & every once in a while, I bump into movies I have already watched in the past years. At times while watching it again, it brings back to memory what I had watched. Your Comment might be very long but I love details because I too am a meticulous person & I am very detailed. I write "Books" not messages & Letters as my family tease me that I'm a Writer whenever I write comments. HAHAHAHA! I too appreciate very much the Producers, Writers, Cast Members & Crews. Its very hard to make a movie especially Custom Period Movies & I can understand they deserve the Millions they make for movie-making because its very costly especially when we think about the Place, Clothing attires, Foods, etc. etc. Thanks so much to those who were involved in making this Movie. Its one of the Best of the Best-est I've ever watched. Wow! 47 Episodes. I too, am going to check out the ML & FL in other movies. I don't think(in this movie)the Lanlang King has made a lot of movies so I won't be surprise when I don't find movies to see him in. ☺
so wait, was Lian always there waiting? Why was Quinso able to get the mt open if she wasn't lian? Did yong meet quinso and master(aunt) somewhere and escape with them to live? I didn't like Langling king, he was arrogant, yet it seems he was rewarded at the end, and his poor fiancé.
