On the first level, couldn't you cheese it by using a shell to get a red coin?
Ooh yes! That probably would work. Grab one or some of those shellmets from the goombrat part and throw them to get each of the coins. Not sure if it'd be faster but that would work. Lol. Damn, I kinda want to try that.
