"Bad Love," which came out in 2021, is straight out of classic '80s - rock ballad/ electro-rock/ dance-pop. However, it mixes in '60s, '70s era sci-fi elements. Key said his personal style is like retro '80s/'90s MTV, so that's the treatment they used to come up with his previous solo concepts and styles. And he only dove in deeper with the retro concept after he came back from the military in 2021. Since gaining artistic control of his solo releases with his Bad Love album, he building a whole world based on retro sci-fi TV shows/movies and comics, etc. Therefore, the storyline from his Bad Love album to his Killer album, and all the MVs in between, are connected. Each MV is telling another part of the story like you are reading a graphic novel series or watching another episode of a retro sci-fi movie or TV show. Even all his "Bad Love" and "Killer" merchandise and album packaging that was designed to look like vintage toys and games, etc. were all conceptualized by Key. I mean Key lives in the world of vintage-cool. He knows how to take a style and concept and own it. The person in the mirror in "Bad Love" is the woman who is haunting him with her bad love. He is thinking of her and remembering what she put him through during their relationship, so she appears in the mirror like a memory that won't go away. As Key has explained, the storyline in his "Bad Love" MV is about how his character is going crazy, trapped in his mind, and while watching TV he projects himself into the scenes on TV. Every time the channel changes, his character is shown in a different scene in the MV. (And it's not modern-day TV programs, as you can see from the aesthetic, it's supposed to remind you of '80s/'90s international/U.S. TV programs.) That is why at the end you see him haggard and worn out looking. The TV goes fuzzy and he is pulled out of his crazy warped fantasy world and brought back to reality. Where he is recovering from the "Bad Love." "Killer" is his title track from his repackaged album that came out earlier this year, which is a follow up to his previous "Gasoline" MV and album. I interpret the "Killer" lyrics to be about how he is telling his former lover to "remember that I am the Killer," and I warned you that I was no good. Their relationship was like an action thriller, it started out as fun and full of excitement, but along the way things went wrong. Key was the one who ended the relationship and he is saying that he is the cause of all the toxicity. In other words, he is the bad guy and he wants the girl to remember that he is no good for her. They had their fun, but now he is done and he doesn't want to go back. He is also saying that in order to preserve all that is good about the girl they need to end their relationship because all he will do is cause her pain and ruin her life, etc. "Stop looking at me with those innocent eyes," you are making it hard for me to leave and I warned you before we even got started that I was no good. He can't help being bad because he is like a killer who is incapable of reciprocating her love, etc., so before things really go bad, they have to end their relationship. And in order to get over him, she needs to remember that "I'm the Killer." In other words, you might think you love me, but if you keep trying to hold on to what we had, you will only get "killed." He is saying he is incapable of giving her the love and affection that she deserves, so it's better for her to think of him as the bad guy and to end things before they get worse. I can see how in his "Killer" MV you might think Key is harkening back to Michael Jackson with his "Thriller" reference and the one glove, etc. However, I don't think the one glove, etc. has any real symbolic significance beyond the fact that it was a style choice that Key made because he is always on trend, if not one step ahead, with everything he does. I'm sure the main reason he made the choices he did was because he thought it looked cool and went well with the aesthetic of the outfits he was wearing, as well as fit within the retro style of the whole project. (Wearing one glove doesn't always have to mean that that person is trying to be like MJ, Michael just started a fashion trend that happens to still be cool today.) "Good & Great" is the title track from his newest mini album Good & Great, which just came out Monday and, including his Japanese album and repackages, this is Key's 6th solo album. "Good & Great" is the beginning of a new style and concept for him. How I interpret the "Good & Great" lyrics and MV is that Key is experiencing the monotony of life as an average person who spends every day doing the same things. Like most people, to keep motivated he keeps telling himself, "I'm good, I'm great ..." I should be grateful because I have a job and I'm getting paid. But as we see in the MV, life is a never-ending loop like a character in a game or the robotic life of an office worker. We see him smiling, looking happy as he tells himself that "I'm good, I'm great," but everyone he is interacting with just keeps nodding along until their heads fall off, representing how they are not really being fully engaged in the conversation or whatever task they are trying to complete, etc. Day in and day out life is always the same, we just keep going through our tasks, trying to get ahead, with little to no recognition from anyone except ourselves. Which is why we see in the choreography that he pats himself on the head, because the only encouragement he gets is from himself. The cute fuzzy red, pink, purple and blue monsters you see in the "Good & Great" MV, which are called BOK-SILLee, have sort of become Key's mascot, ever since they were first introduced as part of his Gasoline album merchandise and concept. (You can actually purchase those monsters as little stuffed toys.) In the end of the MV, you see Key dressed like a BOK-SILLee as he tries to break free from the boring life of the working class. From his outfits to the backup dancers looks, to the set designs and story concepts, as well as the song lyrics, and the whole album -- including the album packaging -- was designed or chosen by him. Key is involved in the entire creative process when it comes to his solo work and everything you see and hear is what he envisioned for these entire albums/repackage concepts. Every aspect is all part of his design. Key is our fashionista of the group, who is SHINee's stylist for a lot of their MVs and stage outfits. He is known for really paying attention to detail when it comes to fashion. To Key, fashion is about being unique and looking for ways to stand out, without being outrageous. So, everything you see him wearing will be very trendy and fashionable. Many people in the industry look to Key when it comes to fashion trends. That's also why SM has made him its director of fashion. SHINee is also known for creating fashion trends, so designers really covet a chance to work with any of the members of SHINee -- but especially Key -- because SHINee will give them street cred and undoubtedly make them more popular. And on top of all of that, Key is SHINee's fluent English speaker, and he is almost as good as a native speaker. (In middle school he studied for a short time in Australia and New York. Plus, his grandma had a English tutor when he was growing up.) That is why his pronunciation of the English lines in his songs are so crisp and clear. As a member of SHINee -- which is one of SM's top vocal groups, who were vocal coaches and mentors to several of the EXO members -- Key's amazing vocal range and dance skills shouldn't be surprising, that's just what the members of SHINee are known for. And, not only is Key an amazing singer, but he is also one of SHINee's rappers. How often do you see a rapper with that type of vocal range? That's why SHINee are so highly respected in the industry because almost no one can do it the way SHINee does it. As SM Entertainment's experimental boy group, everything SHINee does is meant to be the first and they are expected to set the trend. Everything the members of SHINee release should be a sound and style you have never heard in Kpop before, because they are the ones who are supposed to introduce the next style and sound to the industry. With every new song SHINee produces it's expected to be different than the last -- including the members solo work -- so you will never hear the same style or sound from Key. SHINee are known for having some of the best singers in all of Kpop. Therefore, if you were to listen to Key singing a cappella while performing this intense choreography, he would sound just as flawless as in the MVs. That is why, even as rookies, senior artists would stop what they were doing to watch SHINee's rehearsals on music programs because SHINee's vocal talent is that impressive and nobody was performing the way SHINee was doing it. When SHINee debuted in 2008, all 5 of the members were teenagers -- Key was only 16 -- and they were one of the youngest groups at the time. However, even then, they were shocking everyone with their talent. SHINee was the first group to demonstrate how it was possible to sing live while performing intense choreography and still maintain stable vocals. Before SHINee, the thought within the industry was that it wasn't possible to sing live and also perform high intensity choreography at the same time. At that time, most groups would either sing live and have simple choreography, or they would have crazy cool choreography but lip sync to their recorded vocals. Now you have to check out Key's dance practice videos for "Bad Love" and "Killer." As the title of the song indicates, this choreography is killer, and when you see it without any cuts or edits you will die. LOL
I remember when Key was trying to release Bad love he was so frustrated. He would have meetings after meetings because his company would disagree with his vision. They gave him hell and did not believe the auidence would like it. He kept pushing and would not let him be to the point that he was rushed when they finally gave him the green light to do what he wanted he was running out of time. Originally he wanted to release Helium as a music video instead of a teaser video but SM company wouldn't give him the budget. Key even put money into his whole release because SM were tight with the budget. He was so overwhelmed by it all he broke down after shooting his music video. All to say that Key really cares and doesn't put out music just to put out music. He takes really careful care into his misic and vision and it matters to him. Side note if you like Key you will love SHINee. They have an album called 1 of 1 and its all throwbacks to 80s 90s that even their album was released as a cassette.
He is so creative. Alot of what you see are his ideas. He is very involved in every aspect of his music even his album designs which are so unique. He also writes some of his songs. Every album he has an all English song. His bsides are insane. He has some crazy and outworldly tracks that take you to outerspace like Another Life and Helium. He is so unique with his music. You should really see his bsides.
Glad you love Key! this is probably the best detailed shinee guide at the moment: DEEP DIVE INTO SHINee - Get to Know the Princes of K-Pop // Updated SHINee Guide (2022) by SHINee space. I also would recommend getting to know them through some of their shows/ interviews because it can help with their personalties more than guides can (one fine day, road trip comeback show etc.) Shawols are always welcoming to new fans and always excited for more people to get tho know the group, don't hesitate to ask questions or ask for recs!!
Key is indeed amazing..all his release are good & great 😊👍 Check out all his album...i wanna be, bad love, gasoline, & good and great. 🗝️ #KEY #Kpop #KimKibum
Glad you enjoyed this, Key's older albums were retro and you can really feel it in his new one as well. Key is really into retro scifi movies I remember him mentioning alien as one of his favourites, i love that you can see that in his music videos. I really love CoolAs from his new album. It's fully in English and his voice is great in it. Taemin also does songs with a retro feel sometimes, I think you would enjoy his music. Same with shinee, they did a retro hiphip beat for their last comeback HARD. Glad you enjoyed Key, he has a great voice! Also i'm disabled as well, I want to check out silver bullet now.
Nothing like discovering Master Key for the first time! He is absolutely the King of concepts with great attention to every detail. No one does that like him. Please check out his song "Gasoline"...its epic anthem territory. I also highly recommend his songs " Easy" and "Bound". I'm not sure if its ok to react to the stage performance of " Bound", but please check it out on your own (maybe ok to react to the dance practice). He has a lot of really good songs on his albums and they are often no skip albums. I'm subscribing with the hope that there will be more Key reactions and eventually SHINee. I recommend solos of other members as well. Definitely Taemin. There are reasons he is called the Idol of Idols.
So glad you enjoyed Key’s mv. He is an incredible talent. If you want to check out ShiNee, start with their phenomenal debut song Replay. They recently released an mv called Hard and a performance video called Juice. They are both incredible.
Also, you will surely love SHINee and their music. Their music as SHINee is also superbly amazing, plus each member’s solos too. All five members are also soloists. What a group really..
There is a guide that is a fan protect if you will it is updated and very well thought out is called a deep dive into shinee, the b-sides are really another level with this mini I personally recommend can’t say goodbye and I also obsessed with CoolAs hope this helps :)
Thanks for the Key reactions! KEY IS THE ALL-ROUNDER CHAMELEON OF KPOP!! Did you react to Key's Gasoline yet?? If you ever do whole albums reaction that would be awesome!!
His first two albums are vintage 80s vibes all the way. I am still waiting to receive the latest one (it's in shipping) but I expect more of the same. But yeah the special edition of the Gasoline album is so retro it comes in a VHS case. I would particularly recommend his b-side, Bound it is basically Depeche Mode by kpop.
You love Retro??? You are in for a treat.. Bad Love and Killer is part of Kibum/ Key’s Retro Trilogy Series… along with Gasoline. And Key is sooo detailed too.. his album versions match the retro too.
If you like retro, you’ll LOVE his albums! He had a retro trilogy - bad love, gasoline (the title track isn’t retro but the album itself is top notch), and Killer. And honestly he said he was done with retro but the b-sides on Good&Great deliver the retro synth vibes as always! You’ll really like Another Life, I think.
It was so fun watching your reaction and seeing you get excited about discovering our retro king Key!! He helped design his retro trilogy albums and had so many creative ideas like releasing them in VHS covers, floppy disks, game controllers and so many more! He really loves the 80s and 90s. Please keep going with your Key reactions! I think you’ll also love I Wanna Be and One of Those Nights which are more chill songs or you can check out his big stadium anthem Gasoline. Please also check out Shinee as a group too! Maybe it would be fun to start with their retro track “1 Of 1” to continue with the retro theme and definitely check out their debut song Replay too. Best debut ever in my opinion. There’s a super long and detailed Shinee guide out there but I don’t recommend starting with that one because it spoils too many epic moments from their live performances and songs. It’s more fun to experience those as you go on your journey. Maybe you can start with a shorter guide first like this one: ruclips.net/video/4oOT-ht5tZY/видео.htmlsi=Vrfx1Y-J70dqn0HB All the Shinee members have released solo albums so if you decide to really go on a Shinee journey here’s a playlist with all of their group and solo MVs in release order: ruclips.net/p/PLGDu7sAVejJ9QmTuI1OazxL8Tolx-PulB&si=XkqOJcjkiC3idauN (It’s missing Minho’s Chase MV which came out before Key’s Killer MV but it’s otherwise accurate)
discovered your channel cos of key! thanks for this amazing 3-part reaction. you'd absolutely love his discography if you're into 80s pop culture and music. I'd love to watch your album reactions!
3:37 so attentive to details! I didn’t notice that!❤ pls check out more SHINee video! I recommend Juice, married to the music, replay, don’t call me, why so serious, tell me what to do, sherlock, etc. their live performances are insanely gd, pls react to their Ring Ding Dong +Lucifer remix from SWC5 concert, Dear Name @ IU palette ❤😊
Love your reaction❤Key and his group SHINee have been in the game for 16 years so they have quite a huge discography but it's definitely worth checking out!! If you wish to learn more about their works and journey, here is an informative guide which is probably the most up to date: Deep Dive into SHINee - Get to Know the Princes of Kpop// Updated SHINee Guide (2022) ruclips.net/video/LiYLVmCqazg/видео.html
TAEMIN is a South Korean singer, dancer, rapper, composer, choreographer and producer. He reacts to these songs in that order if you can and want. Hopefully your reaction video includes all the songs and not separately. (An opinion just to be able to enjoy it better🥰🙂) 1) Taemin DANGER MV. 2) Taemin WANT MV. 3) Taemin ADVICE MV 4) Taemin DRIP DROP PERFOMANCE MV. 5) Taemin CRIMINAL MV. 6) Taemin IDEA MV. 7) Taemin PRESS YOUR NUMBER VER.2 PERFOMANCE. 8) Taemin MOVE MV. And also the Singer Key To his song titled KILLER Thank you very much in advance, greetings 🥰
Check out shinee's entire discography and solo work. Key's new mini album is awesome. Plus he will be doing a concert at some point. Taemins will be out in October with a concert tour. Minho Will be releasing his new song around then too. Onew is still on hiatus due to health issues
key has such an amazing discography is amazing
You need to react to his B-sides. You will never be disappointed with the quality of his albums.
Where he is recovering from the "Bad Love."
"Killer" is his title track from his repackaged album that came out earlier this year, which is a follow up to his previous "Gasoline" MV and album.
(Wearing one glove doesn't always have to mean that that person is trying to be like MJ, Michael just started a fashion trend that happens to still be cool today.)
"Good & Great" is the title track from his newest mini album Good & Great, which just came out Monday and, including his Japanese album and repackages, this is Key's 6th solo album.

Key is so talented ❤
I remember when Key was trying to release Bad love he was so frustrated. He would have meetings after meetings because his company would disagree with his vision. He kept pushing and would not let him be to the point that he was rushed when they finally gave him the green light to do what he wanted he was running out of time. Key is an amazing artist and most of what you see in his MVs is his idea!

Amazing Key from the legendary group SHINee 👑💯💎 All 5 members of SHINee are amazing top tier soloists. Subscribed for more SHINee video reactions.
I love me some Kim Kibum appreciation 👏👏👏👏👏

Maybe you can start with a shorter guide first like this one: ruclips.net/video/4oOT-ht5tZY/видео.htmlsi=Vrfx1Y-J70dqn0HB
All the Shinee members have released solo albums so if you decide to really go on a Shinee journey here’s a playlist with all of their group and solo MVs in release order: ruclips.net/p/PLGDu7sAVejJ9QmTuI1OazxL8Tolx-PulB&si=XkqOJcjkiC3idauN (It’s missing Minho’s Chase MV which came out before Key’s Killer MV but it’s otherwise accurate)
OMG a new Locket/ Little freak? (Key fandom) I really love your reaction ❤
discovered your channel cos of key! thanks for this amazing 3-part reaction. you'd absolutely love his discography if you're into 80s pop culture and music.
Bad Love(2021), Gasoline(2022), and Killer (2023) is the retro trilogy by Key
More Shinee and the members solos, please!💎💎💎💎💎
Love your reaction❤Key and his group SHINee have been in the game for 16 years so they have quite a huge discography but it's definitely worth checking out!! If you wish to learn more about their works and journey, here is an informative guide which is probably the most up to date: Deep Dive into SHINee - Get to Know the Princes of Kpop// Updated SHINee Guide (2022) ruclips.net/video/LiYLVmCqazg/видео.html
I think you will enjoy SHINee’s Married To The Music and 1 of 1 MVs.
